Thank you so much for the video! We live in eastern Iowa and have just started looking into ground source heat pumps. The only vendor I've been able to get much info out of is Water Furnace. They're trying to find an installer closer to me - nearest one so far is 60 miles away. Because of the layout of our lot (we're on a hill with a walk out basement) Water Furnace indicates we'd need a vertical closed loop wells rather than a horizontal ground loop. When you were talking about that one system losing water pressure that scared the crap out of me. My greatest fear is putting in several hundred feet of tubing into multiple vertical wells only to have a loop develop a leak a couple hundred feet underground. At least with the horizontal loops you could always bring in a back hoe, dig up the leaky section and patch it. The few people I know who've put in systems with horizontal loops haven't had real good luck with them. We have dense clay soil here and it's relatively impervious to water. Consequently, I don't think the heat exchange between the horizontal ground loops with the soil is very good? The few people who've put in vertical wells, where you're going down into the water table seem to have better luck. All of them around here are closed ground loop systems - no open systems due to hard water and resultant heat exchanger fouling. Do you know how often these ground source water loops develop leaks? Is it more prone to leaks with vertical wells or horizontal loops? Any information would be appreciated. Tom D.
Homeowner here with a couple questions live in lower Michigan with a older unit installed in 2013 the last couple years I’ve experienced the pressure in the loop drop and fluctuate through the seasonal change but my loops have lost all pressure Today Once I filled loop back up to 35 pounds system off the loop will continue to lose pressure back down to zero within a few hours. This problem has never happened but we are experiencing crazy weather with the ground, freezing and thawing throughout the day and night
I got hi pressure lockout on split system for upper level yesterday. Filter in air handler put in a few weeks ago, checked today and looks new. I had cleaned my spin down rusco filter which has some sediment. There was a good amount of icing on the filter. Lower level unit ran fine last night with no issues. I can’t seem to get upper level unit to blow any air thru vents whether in heat mode or cooling mode.
If that filter had icing on it it’s possible your fan is going out which is why you’re not feeling any air, if that evaporator coil doesn’t get airflow it will freeze as well. that or it could be low on refregerant.
What about If the breaker is on and the power still isn't on? Had a guy come and he didn't know whT he was doing and said he needed a piece and still waiting
The one thing i can say about water furnace is there warranty is fantastic and everything is very easy to work on and change I’ve worked on water furnace for more that 10 years
How do you verify circulator pumps are moving water why would I have very high suction pressure and normal discharge pressure I'm talking 500 psi suction 325 psi discharge
My WF primer 4 ton normally kicks off if my air filter is dirty, I just reset it power off then back on again, This time nothing, the board seems dead the relay and compressor works if I push in the manual. To test changed the 2 -10 amp fuses still nothing.is there a way to test the low and high sensors like jump them. To see if that is the problem. If so I can order an adapter kit sensor to connect either high or low inlet. if need be. Otherwise great unit scroll just purrs along.
Hello, home owner here hoping for some advice. I have a slow leak around the threads of the PT port fitting. I tightened it some but I dont want to over do it. I can see that there's dope around the threads. Does the whole fitting need to be removed, re-doped, and put back, requiring a full drain and refill of the loop, and if so, is that something I should attempt myself as a home owner, or should I just try to tighten it more? Thank you.
Do not tighten it more, especially if it has a bluish greenish color around the threads, the fitting may break off spewing all the water out If you could tighten it, that would be the best option but I wouldn't risk it if it's been there a while
@TaddyDigest it was installed two years ago. I think I'll call the installer, i'm afraid of tightening it more. I just figured that's what they were going to do anyway.
@giannicarrero4516 if it's only two years old, you should be able to tighten it unless it's cross threaded I would give it up a quarter turn and see what happens
Hey man, I'm having issues and my pump is not kicking off, there's a bladder tank thing on it that has busted twice now an started leaking. Shouldn't the pump kicked off once the system is primed?

Water furnace pond loop installed in 2013. I've had to juice the loop twice in 8 months. I'm suspecting a loop leak somewhere. It's about 50 yards from the house to the pond. For immediate monitoring, would there be any way to attach a Bluetooth pressure gauge to the water inlet fitting, or anywhere else (if so, where?), to monitor the system with an app? The installation is in the crawl space.

Either your filter is dirty or your furnace is out of free-on. Our furnace was 32 years old and we just replaced it with a new Geo furnace. We were not taking a chance on repairing our old one as something else may have gone next. Good luck with yours.
My 5 series was installed in 2013, in 2021, the waterfurnace dealer added pressure to loop for $250. The pressur islow again and they said it is from the pex stretching with hot loop. They said it may have air in line. They installed it in 2013 shouldn't they have gotten the air out then?
I have a high pressure lockout pulled the disconnect to reset after I added in water. Waited for the unit to come back on but as soon as it does the high pressure lockout comes u Wonder what's going on never been worked on before because the unit was taped off

Thank you for Watching I have found several loops out of water and after filling have no problems for years but every time it leaves me with questions like how
In my opinion absolutely no.just like a refrigeration system or car radiator if you loose, refrigerant, water, anti freeze ect. In a closed loop you have a leak ,sometimes if you just fill it and don't get all air out your pressure will drop from air vent bleeding. Thats my opinion that water didn't magically disappear, sometimes leak is in ground ?

So frustrating that I can’t find a schematic online so I can find and reset the switch on my own.
Yes, if this is a open loop system that requires well water, well needs fixed and reset unit. If you allow unit to try to run still in heat mode it will freeze up coax coil.
My name is Dan. I have had a Water Furnace since 1996. Untill January of 2022 the register heat temperature was 95 on the low speed and 104 on the high speed. A technician came out and he replaced a capicitor and said the rest of the furnice was fine. The temperature now at the register is 91 on the low speed and on the high speed is 97. I think the unit needs some freon. He did not use gauges to test for freon pressure. I am ready to call the company back and insist that they check the pressure. What do you think??
What was the tool you used for the pressure check. I keep forgetting the name. Lol. And I have a geothermal I'm working on that has high pressure and I'm thinking it's a flow issue

What happens to the water that was in the loop. Did you find a leak, or did you only fill the loop like a gas tank? What happens to the air when you added the water?

Hey Taddy! I have a Water Furnace kicking off all the time. It shows high pressure and my repairman says the unit needs replaced which i simply can't afford. Are there other problems that will cause the High Pressure fault other than low water? I think it could also be low water volume but not sure.
low water volume is the most common But it could be a restriction in the refrigeration side It could be a bad pump And it could be a few other things but I would need more details
@@TaddyDigest they are saying it’s the compressor. Is that possible? Most in my area don’t have much knowledge in geothermal and I think sometimes the easy answer for them is it needs replaced.
You are correct, it's much simpler for those who don't have any knowledge with geothermal equipment to just say it needs to be replaced A bad compressor can cause a high pressure issue But most likely that is not the case If you join and become a member level four, you can have my phone number I can walk you through what needs to happen

What do you think??
those temps are pretty good I would definitely call if the temp drops any more than that
What was the tool you used for the pressure check. I keep forgetting the name. Lol. And I have a geothermal I'm working on that has high pressure and I'm thinking it's a flow issue
loop gooser
Will that tell me the pressure when system is running on a non pressurized system
How do you charge it with refrigerant after replacing the coil? High side or low side?
low side
Do you u use a 1/16 or 1/8 th inch needle to repressurize? I have a 4 ton, 5- series water furnace with low loop pressure.
I have a geothermal training guide that you need. I'm gonna send it to you for $2.

At what age did you start HVAC, and how long have you been doing it?
You seem like a 20+ year tech.
Started when I was fourteen years old i'm thirty five years old now
@TaddyDigest I started at 26 going on 27 y/o, and I'm 3 years in. Your videos and tips have helped me continue to master this field, and I greatly appreciate what you for this community with you content. Keep goin 💪🏾 💯
My Waterfurnace unit has a blinking high pressure light on one unit (servicing downstairs) and a blinking low pressure unit on the other (split unit servicing upstairs). Not sure if this is the place to ask, but I'm not sure about what this means and what to do about it. :o

I have a Water-furnace red light says high-pressure air conditioner will not stay running
What I found was a blown fuse was not running the pump that circulates the water. A small glass 10 AMP fuse
Awesome you found the blown fuse on the main circuit board which controls the pump power
I would definitely check the pops make sure that they have been bled of air
And then also I would definitely check the water pressure
What happens to the water that was in the loop. Did you find a leak, or did you only fill the loop like a gas tank? What happens to the air when you added the water?
Just added water
Use the screws on the flow center to burp the air

wow no strainer y-saks on that water i understand it’s probably A CL sys but still seen too many cl still water never optimized for cl & kill the systems while mostly avoidable by strainers i stalled, its a $30 extra piece of mind
Have you had any experience with Geofinity geothermal systems?
nope

Air flow light blinking red after removing and cleaning filter- I blew out the water drain hose, refilled with water but my AC is still not working and air flow light is still blinking. Any idea why my air flow light would be blinking red?
Is the fan blowing
Is a geo thermal unit just a water source heatpump, as far as the unit not loop.?
That's right Richard
Hey Taddy! I have a Water Furnace kicking off all the time. It shows high pressure and my repairman says the unit needs replaced which i simply can't afford. Are there other problems that will cause the High Pressure fault other than low water? I think it could also be low water volume but not sure.
low water volume is the most common
But it could be a restriction in the refrigeration side
It could be a bad pump
And it could be a few other things but I would need more details
@@TaddyDigest they are saying it’s the compressor. Is that possible? Most in my area don’t have much knowledge in geothermal and I think sometimes the easy answer for them is it needs replaced.
You are correct, it's much simpler for those who don't have any knowledge with geothermal equipment to just say it needs to be replaced
A bad compressor can cause a high pressure issue But most likely that is not the case

@@TaddyDigest I get high pressure during hot weather, low flow during cold months. My unit shuts off and I find the Geolink circ pump very, very hot. I crack open the vent on the pump, steam puffs out. I reset unit, everything works fine for a few weeks. Repair technicians can't figure it out. Any ideas?

The Red lights just indicate the unit is not working right and that you need a service tech. My old unit was a premier as well. You can get it repaired at a cost of 3-4 thousand or buy a new one which l did.
the loop to the desuperheater on that second unit should be changed to copper
