I watch these clips in 2021, and, can say that they are just as funny and intelligent as they were in 1985. This was a comedy, written for intelligent people. The humour, acting and writing are timeless. That is such a rare commodity in television. Thank you!
I was in my 20’s when Moonlighting came on. All of my friends and I were saying ‘who is this guy’? So funny the studio people couldn’t see what the fans could. Bruce and Cyril were 🔥. Best show of the 80’s. Nothing else comes close. So happy it’s now available to buy on streaming. Can watch these episodes over and over. Perfection!
It's really annoying how people don't give Cybill credit as an actress. Just because she was and is so pretty and was so good in Moonlighting..she has comedic talent and is has taken on all kinds of roles since then As much as I love Bruce he generally has played the same action guy role for years.
I think what hurt Cybill is how she has had such a bitchy diva reputation and even before Moonlighting she was seen by the public as a frosty bitch which is why Glen thought she was perfect for Maddie and it gave Cybill a chance to show that she can laugh at herself with the physical comedy they gave her. She is very good though but let's be honest the show wouldn't have ever lasted without Bruce as David Addison.
@@kendallrivers1119 I have to say, if this show was cast without either Bruce or Cybil it probably would not have been the major success that it was. Chemistry is everything in a series of this kind, and theirs was off the charts. That is a very rare thing. One without the other, and I doubt it would have gone behind the pilot episode.
She was good in Moonlighting but sucked in her own sitcom called Cybill. Some actors can make any scene/material work - Cybill needs A-list material for her acting to work.
@@kendallrivers1119 I am a Cybill Shepard fan but in both her series - Moonlighting and Cybill - it was well known she was difficult to work with. In both series someone else got better reviews/more awards - Bruce and Christine Baranski - and I don't think Cybill's ego handled that well.
@@tracy2648 wveryone knows that to be true even hardcore cybil/moonlighting fans- years after the show ended cybil did some growing up and developed some mature reflection and admitted as much in subsequent interviews as did bruce in admitting his part in all the drama- to cybil’s credit some in the business don’t develop any self awareness enough to admit when they were wrong and mistreated people with their egos
My crush was Maddie especially when she got angry and start slapping Dave!! As a black guy I would love to say "I wanted that white lady so baddddddddd!!"
Wow. Cybill certainly inspired a lot of tolerance for her diva ways. Why wouldn't her character fall for him? Bruce was good looking and despite the furs she was never elegant.
