I remember my mother buying me that AWA wrestling ring with the Fabulous Freedbirds 3-pack, The Road Warriors 2-pack ,the Jmmy Garvin ,Precious , Steve Regal 3 -pack, and Baron Von Raschke, man i miss those days! also i never put the full cage together on any cage ring, i use to leave one side open so i could have easy access, good video as always!

This whole concept of a cage for ljns was awesone - but my mind was puzzled by the not having access to your figures part of it... (I had a makeshift one with top section too so no access at all lol)

      To the post:
      VERY SMART OF YOU!!
Leaving the front part open you're playing in while putting the cage door on one side, you're "GENIUS'Y" like Dusty Rhodes R.I.P.
While still having the corners of the cage to dive off of as well

I always loved the bump sound this card board battle royal ring made. My ropes are stretched out now, but its still in pretty good shape. I used this ring with the WWF Thumb Wrestlers quite a bit. And YES Jason, my Battle Royal Playset came with 2 belts.

Those Remco AWA rings were THE GOAT!! I didn't have the 1st AWA All-Star Wrestling ring, but I did have the Battle Royal & Steel Cage set. They were awesome rings. The sound that both made, especially the cardboard ring, was dope!! The ring mat/skirt added to the sound & made it unique. I WISH I COULD FIND ONE OR BOTH OF THESE RINGS!!

I have great memories of the AWA Remcos and rings except for my brothers breaking them on me. I had the cage ring first and then years later the first one. Remco was so awesome I wished many times that the LJNs were made in a similar scale and form back then. excellent review

What a blast from the past. AWA figures were my childhood also. I had the regular and steel cage rings. I would spend hours playing with the figures . The Rowland Warriors. Fabulous Ones , The Long Riders, Hansen and Blackwell , the free birds. I had em all. During Halloween I’d buy fake blood to have some great grudge matches.

Loved seeing that awesome ring and playset. Those are some pretty nice items to have in your wrestling toy collection. Love it.
on a side note...I had that same Pound Puppie when I was a kid. The brown one with the black spot on its face. Its name was Brownie haha. Pretty original for a 7 year old kid.
God I love this channel some much. Thank you Jason The new 80s revolution for everything you do. It's a blessing looking forward to your videos after the everyday grind of life. It's a nice getaway if you will (In the great Dusty Rhodes voice). Cant wait to make it to one of you and Avi Kleins new podcast live and join the chat. I have had to work the first couple but I will make soon enough.
Thanks again. Signed A fan 4-Life

That is an outstanding set! The battle royal play set! I would get that today if I can, a 80’s wrestling kids paradise, did not know the figures were included, you figured the Ljn’s would have had something like this, with the wwf at the time being the symbol of excellence of sports entertainment🤔

I definitely liked the remco rings better than the ljn ring, the cloth ring apron was much better than the cartoon stickers on the sides of the ljn ring.

These are great sets. My younger brother had the steel cage match playset and I had the ljn one. I now, however, make my own rings and cages for remcos, mattels, and jakks figures. Check them out at, "Custom Wrestling Rings" on Facebook!

Of all the wrestling ring play sets was Hasbro the only one that did not make a cage?

    • @mr.perksy

The New 80's Revolution I always thought that was so odd. Especially since Hasbro not only made a lot of figures, but also a lot of other non figure stuff.
Great video man, AWA was a cool line. If only we had more years of AWA Remco and WCW Galoob.

Warriors are substituted with Flair and Zbyszko in the second release. I'm not certain if this ring is cardboard though. I think this was a later release. wrestlingfigs.com/figuredatabase/third-battle-royal-gift-set/
