I think I should apologize. Cos I was one of the viewers in the stream who kept on saying 'chess' in the chat. And I did it specifically BECAUSE of Ame's previous chess match with Kiara. And I'm apologizing on behalf of perhaps 99% of the audience who did the same thing.
I really don’t think people get how hard some of this stuff is. Many of the clips of Ame or Gura or any of the others making mistakes are just mistakes, not them being stupid. They aren’t stupid. Most things are harder when you are in the middle of a stream and on the spot, like when they mess up the simple addition and stuff. And stuff like this, this is a first time for a lot of this so it only makes sense that they aren’t masters. Even in connect 4 and stuff, it’s way harder to see that stuff when you are playing it. Viewers have a unique view of everything from an outside perspective and they notice things much easier than the ones playing in the middle of a stream. Nah, lots of people nowadays actually know how to play Chess. It's considered a fun hobby since it's so easy to access, all you need is a board and pieces, and it can be played on basically any console or virtual device. It's a popular trope in many TV shows and Anime, so people pick it up, and it has this feeling of being smart and cool.
the funny part about kiara vs ame is that kiara claimed she used to be part of a chess club, yet she didn't even remember the coronation rule and she was defeated by a total noob. Beyond that, is completely normal that a game between two chess noobs shows this level.
It hurt my soul when at 11, no matter what Gura did Ame`s next move could have been checkmate. And then after the transition Gura had somehow gotten out of it. I'm sure there are probably a lot more but that one was the most obvious to me.
