  • The Minack - A wonderful place for a wander! We spent a few hours losing some time in one of the most beautiful settings in Cornwall.
The Minack Theatre clings to the cliff top overlooking Porthcurno Beach. It was created by Rowena Cade for the local amateur dramatic group to perform theirs plays with the first production in 1932. The open air theatre with its unique and stunning backdrop soon gained a national reputation. With annual performances becoming a full program, attended by many thousands today.
Sarah is looking for the perfect composition of the Minack, preferably with Pedn Vounder cove peeping above the Theatre itself. So how easy is it to sketch and paint the Minack? Are there any straight and true lines?
We also nip up the coast to Penberth, used in Poldark as Sawle Village, it is one of the most photographed coves in Cornwall. After taking a clutch of photographs, which one will be used to create a stunning mixed media textile project?

    The standard description bit…
We are Sarah and Andrew and we film our walks around Cornwall and publish on UA-cam, usually weekly. Sometimes we stay in accommodation in Cornwall and upload our vlog. Sarah is fascinated by sea glass and likes to collect it so there may be the occasional sea glass video too. The channel is a hobby and we both have normal day jobs!

Best time of year to visit Cornwall?
We love May, June for flora and fauna, July and September for spectacular scenery.

Watching the ease with which you create these gorgeous works of art continuously amazes me. I'm sure it doesn't hurt to have Cornwall (Paradise) as your muse, but the talent is all you!

Hi Sarah and Andrew another great video, My wife and I stumbled across your channel at the beginning of the first lock down, since then we wait for new content every Friday and you never fail. We have visited Cornwall several times since the late 70`s until 2000, we are long overdue another visit. Our Ruby wedding anniversary next year so we will see you then. We cant do the walking bit but can lean on a gate all day, have drawn up a long list of places to visit and re-visit. Thanks for all you do.

What a stunning back drops. The Minack and Penberth. Both equally beautiful. The weather was gorgeous for October and start of Autumn with the Autumn colours that gave you a wonderful opportunity to paint a truly stunning picture. Your eye for detail is amazing - a lovely video - well done.

Hi Sarah and Andrew. Thank you for your video of The Minnack and Penberth Cove. Penberth was my late mums favourite place in Cornwall so has a very special place in my heart. I live in New Zealand now and love seeing your videos of all the places I know so well. Your picture was beautiful Sarah, well done. Keep the videos coming. Gail

Hi Sarah. I watch all your shows, but normally on a TV so I can "like" them but can't comment. But I loved this one so much I had to turn on the PC to tell you. I lived in Porthcurno for several years from 1967 and loved it. I even worked at the MInack and helped Rowena Cade sort out a rockfall. You always bring back so many happy memories, but this video in particular certainly stands out. I'm keen on photography too so your demonstrations of that are also of interest. And I love to watch your verys skilful drawing and painting work too. I could go on, but I'd be echoing most of the comments below. Of your previous shows I thought your Penzance walk was among the best due to amount of detail and history you and Andrew talked about.

My first time at The Minack was to see The Beauty Queen of Leenane! Such a romantic setting. Can't wait for next season and a reason to go again. Great video and fab picture!

What a beautiful view of the ‘Minack’ really spectacular to quote Andrew, I always wanted to visit, a dream of mine you have just made come true, thank you, ‘Penberth’ looks an artists paradise, it must be one of the most stunning spots in Cornwall, Andrew is correct again! You are a remarkable Artist Sarah your finished project is just fabulous as always, as Andrew pointed out the more you look the more you see, can I see a scattering of sea glass from your beach cleaning last week? well thank you again Sarah & Andrew, all this fresh sea air has given me an appetite, so must put the kettle on and make a fresh cuppa ☕️ give your faithful companion a big hug 🤗 from me, meaning the four legged one of-cause! 🤩

You really have captured the essence of Penberth Cove. I think this one has got to be one of my favourites you have done Sarah. Attention to detail is fab. You can almost hear the sea. It's such a lovely cove & was perfect for the Poldark series! Gosh, wish I was there now! We visited on a sunny day & it was just lovely. One of those places you can sit for hours just looking.....and always your scrumptious doggy sitting faithfully by your side! x J x

Penberth is one of those places that make you go WOW when first seen from the S.W.C.P. such a sunning place and makes you get the camera out. We have just got back from the Cornwall and from winds of storm Arwen. We had good weather with some great sunsets over the Helford River. We done the same as C.W.T. and caught the charabanc from Marazion to Penzance ( using the bus passes ) and walked back, by this time the water had gone off the causeway, so we went up to St Michael's Mount . We even looked for sea glass another day at Durgan, that's the effect your channel has on people. Stay safe.

Both are breathtaking sights, but I think I prefer Penberth as it is such a picturesque haven. Though beautiful & fascinating, vertigo would get the better of me at Porthcurno! ~ though, I'd love to see a spot-lit night performance at the Minack, when there's not the distracting vista of the sea drama to compete. And yay! ~ another art project! Particularly love your needlework and complimentary jewel-like colours bringing the foreground into dynamic focus :)

Those are two amazing places, and I am so happy to have visited both of them. Also really interesting with the preparation for a play at the Minack Theatre. We just saw the stage as the empty and tiled round deck. It would be wonderful to be there during a play. If possible, I am even more amazed at your skills Sarah. Wow! This was a fantastic piece of art you made! So detailed, and I guess one will never stop finding new details. You even managed to catch the sunshine in Penberth cove, and I can spot the coastal path further on towards Lamorna Cove :-) Torunn.
