Posture For Singing - Ken Tamplin Vocal Academy 4K
I've heard it said by one specific vocal coach that posture doesn't matter. Then he proceeded to flip-flop his body all over the place while "trying" to hold a note.
This same "vocal coach" touts that practicing and singing scales is "counter-productive."
This is nothing more than a used-car salesman technique, like telling you that eating healthy and exercising is not what it really takes to lose weight and be healthy.
AND
He's not a vocal coach at all, he is a motivational speaker, at best!
Here is why I am telling you this:
POSTURE MATTERS. SCALES MATTER. ACTUAL SINGING TECHNIQUES MATTER.
In my 40 years of singing, with 40 records out, touring the world for 35 plus years, 1,000 songs placed in film and TV (see my IMDb here www.imdb.com/name/nm0848745/), all the major music producers I have worked with (see my Wikipedia here: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ken_Tam..., AND studying with some of the world's greatest vocal coaches, I am not aware of a single coach that would agree with that utter, total, and complete nonsense.
I am not seeing these kinds of credentials from any other vocal coach.
Does it make me right?… Well, it says I have tried and true experience!
Guys, I have always been straight with you!
I have never told you this would be easy. I have never told you that you could take a pill that will make you great.
What I have told you is if you do the things I am showing you, it will help you get to your end goal.
My information did not come easy. It came at a big price!
I hope folks will have the common sense to recognize bullshiz when they see it, and utilize good info to achieve success.
Am I pizzed off? Yes!

I always found it fascinating how people’s posture is depending on how they sing. Lemmy with the upwards chin and head tipped to the side, then you have Geoff Tate with power postures, and then Halford somehow still doing what he does regardless if he’s standing up or half hunched over lol. Then, you have folks like Pavarotti with ram rod posture and clarity that’s clear as a crystal glass. It’s amazing and quite a science…thanks for sharing the video!
Just started back practicing vocals after a long journey of recovery.
I've found kneeling on a high back chair facing the high back, bent knees sitting straight up and straight on is working for me as standing for periods of a time is coming back slow paced. And sometimes sit or stand. You Rock, Ken 🎶 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉 thanks for your lesson of the day always with a Happiness that fills the room!!
I also have found that if,while singing, you engage several people in the audience even briefly makes many in the audience to feel that you’re singing to them

Would say that practicing while seated helps strengthening our diaphragmatic support more than standing ? (due to the extra "challenge" added)
when you're playin guitar and singing, this posture is kinda of hard to take (you have to look to the neck of the guitar, and all the pedals) hahaha
