Don't listen to the thumbs down comments. Your pace and tempo are wonderful. Your phrasing is fantastic! The performance and tone are splendid! It's a great rendition, and the negative comments come from people expecting at tutorial. Keep playing!
Love the beautiful melodic line you’ve brought to life in this piece which has made me look at it afresh as a teacher. Well done! Ignore the negative comments, you’ve done a great job on this excellent example of Grusin’s craft.
There are many nasty misplaced comments in here. This is a nice interpretation of a piece by one of the great modern piano composers. I suspect those with the negative remarks could barely play chopsticks because any genuine musician will never put down another person's playing unless it is pretending to be something that it isn't. Keep up the good work, would love to see other postings
MrSeppie, I have seen many artists and videos such as yours get down votes as part of a UA-cam glitch. A buddy of mine who is impeccable in his Grusin covers got hit with a bunch of them one time overnight, years ago. Don't let it affect you, it's a malfunction. More importantly... excellent job!
Excellent job! I love your style. Although the ending is a little dull compared to the rest. Keep posting! Try to position the ZOOM HDQ3 above the piano using a microphone stand (check out my video's). This results in a richer sound and a good view on the keys and chords.
@Voodomania Good question, but I have no clue, neither do the dislikes affect me. However, for your interest, I believe that I haven't received any of them for at least a month, maybe 2.
I can't get the original version, it's not sold anywhere. These guys seem to improvise all the time, it's annoying. I got some copy of this piece and don't understand if it's a simplified copy or not, cannot compare, on the second part they just go mental and it doesn't match my music material.
Sammy4949 2 oh fk yes it is, but it isnt played emotionless. Its just an interpretation i wouldnt have chosen for, but he plays it well, just the fast part is true. And since ray's blues is a slow blues/ballet, it is indeed meant to be a bit slower.

Music sheet with minor improvisations.

Great job, record some more Grusin :-)

What style of music would you call this?
blues
Michael Kelm jazz/slow blues. It's a subgroup of blues.

I like the uptempo but a metronome would help keep on time
I don't get where the negativity comes from, I'm a pianist myself and I genuinely thinks it sounds very good

Written on the original sheet says improvise on the repeat, so that's basically what it says to do
Tanner Bowls
That's interesting, I will know now.
yeah man i know what you mean
It seems someone on youtube holds a very personal grudge against Mr Grusin. Go figure...
You should really perfect your performance of the original before you start riffing on it. You've certainly got the chops.
dude its far too fast listen to the original or watch the movie. feel is totally lost
to fast.. and no emotion
Teddy Kim it's jazz, not meant to be slow and emotional.
