the monkey king yeah, let's be honest, the city trial was absolutely amazing, and I wish the options were in Smash Run for the events and final battles, as well as just being able to play the final battles by themselves, such as run, jump or stamina
Kirby Air Ride is so good! It's super simplistic, but it's genius in it's simplicity. It is my absolute favorite kart racing game ever made. City Trial is actually the highlight of the game since it has infinite replayability due to the random mid-trial events and the post-trial competitions getting more varied as you complete more City Trial challenges.
This game is probably one of the best games to do during a party, or you stream it with friends! As a child this was so much fun with my brothers that I basically knew the city my heart. Like when the volcano exploded and you go on rails to the cloud area! Hahaha so many memories!
I think you should do a mini-series with this game, as air ride mode is designed to learn the controls, as city trial has many more events, possibilities, stars etc. City Trial is the main one, so you might want to watch the tutorial online, as it is super important. (Also: any old payers of the game see that his city trial was near ideal, 2 swerves, lots of concentrated boxes, manageable event, and 2 confirmed legendary boxes, if it had dyna blade or the UFO it would've been perfect)
This game is one of the few I kept when I sold games I don't/didn't play anymore. City trial is always so fun; you should play some more of it and get used to it. :D Cool events happen (like that super speed thing) and Dyna Blade (that huge bird) appears for you to defeat and get a ton of powerups, and even a big UFO flies over the city for you to fly on top of with more powerups to grab!
in my opinion this game is all about the City Trial mode. It's just soooo much fun building up your stats searching for vehicles and do a random race afterwards :D. And i would love to see a full let's play of you doing this game.
scykoh in this game there is a legendary cart. you can get the cart by obtaining the 3 pieces usually located in red boxes. not all the time thought. also by the tree in the forest if you see something signal a box then go to the grass patch. hit a a buncha times and you will fall in the whole. open the box. it will always be a piece for the kart. btw you have to spin your main stick so you can do a spinning attack. when you have the electricity plasma fore ability hold a and spin the crud outta the main stick to charge it up. then once the diameter is red press a to send off a huge blast
I... **Sigh** ... You know, I'm sorry I need to educate you real quick. The grey powerups in City Trial lower your boosts. Only the bright ones raise it. In City Trial, you can break a lot of things. Some including that rock wall underground, those rock circles near Wispy Woods, and those rectangular grey structures. This is how the plasma power-up woks. You keep moving left and right to charge it. The more you charge it, the more bigger and powerful the attack is. Just like in Kirby Super Star Ultra. What happened with the super speed boost in City Trial is called an 'event'. Every once in a while something crazy, helpful, or just plain absurd can happen. Like there will be an event where Dynoblade comes out and you need to defeat him to get goods, or you have to pass through a glowing hoop on a pillar and you'll get mad power-ups, or what just happened with the speed boost thing. You know it's about to happen and what happens when the siren goes off, and something on the bottom will appear notifying you on what's happening. Phew... That's it. Also, I would love to see more Kirby Air-Ride! :)
Scykoh, do like a mini series on this game!! This was one of my absolute favorite games as a kid, and it still is! I was actually playing it just this morning, it's so much fun. Here's a tip if you do. Red boxes are your friends cause you can find legendary machine pieces in them, blue boxes are your best friends but avoid the grey patches, and don't listen to anyone that says the compact star is bad. (That's the car you start off with in City Trial) Oh, and for next week.... How about some Spyro Enter the Dragonfly?

Great video Scykoh. City trial is actually the main attraction of the game. The event after the 5 minutes is random and you happened to get unlucky and get demolition derby but usually it'll be a race.
An LP of this would be something that I'd watch, but there's some things to note about the game. -The game is more about completing all the records than playing all the tracks or all of the stadiums, which means that there would probably be a lot of repetition of content. The LP would probably be very editing heavy. -City Trial is probably the most time consuming part of the game if you're going for all of the records, because in order to have a chance at some of them, you need a really great start to it. A few tips, with some added vagueness for avoiding spoiling things that are in the game, for if you decide to make a series on this anyway: -If you're not sure what a power does, try rotating the control stick; notably for tornado and electricity. You'll get to know the stars and powerups as you play. Powerups are based on time, not uses, except for the Gordos. -You can re-watch tutorials at the menu screen for the game mode. "How to Play" -City Trial is a lot like smash run, but the gray power ups are negative effects, and you lose stats for having your star destroyed. Generally, you also want to replace your starting star for anything else by getting off of it and onto a new one, which randomly spawn in the map. -Red and Green boxes are almost the same, except that when NOT in the city portion of the map, red boxes can have secrets. Blue boxes almost exclusively hold stats in them. You can spin attack to help break them faster. -The boost you got in City Trial was a random event, prefaced by a warning siren. Other messages that hint at your stadium event can appear at the bottom of the screen periodically. -If you hear a high pitched ring when you finish a course, that's you getting a record; good job. Records unlock new stadium matches, new air ride/top ride courses, new Kirby colors, new stars for air ride, and are like if there was 300 achievements in one game. They range from just playing a course for the first time, to getting like 15 or 20 kills in a single destruction derby. Some records give you a purple block, which counts a record as cleared, but stick out like a sore thumb if you complete the entire board. -There's a lot of destructible things in Air Ride and City Trial. Super secret shortcuts and areas.
I loved this game as a kid, mostly for city trial. It was cool discovering all the hidden secrets and taking part in the awesome random events, and of course unlocking everything. I would like to see more episodes of this, and maybe you could play it with a friend to make it even more fun.
The most fun game mode is defiantly city trial and you can have a goal to complete all of the achievements. I have had this game for years and it still hasn't gotten old, Kirby air ride is really fun to play with friends and you can race each other and try to kill each other
I know Masahiro Sakurai worked on both games and created both series, but holy crap does that game remind me of Super Smash Bros Melee! totofze47 Watching the menus I was thinking "that is so Melee", so I completely get where you're coming from. Just everything between the animations and box style and background are pretty much exactly the same.

I love this game, and played it like crazy when i was younger. holding L or R really helps with sharp turns and easy drifting. quickly tap the toggle stick left and right to spin out to knock kirbs away when you dont have any power ups.In city trial, the point is to find a star (ride) and collect items and make it bulky and fast for the game at the end. (like smash 4's run) random events will happen while playing like the speed boost you got, or sometimes meteors will come crashing down, or rail ways will be on fire! blue boxes will have power ups, green will have weapons, and red will be random. (gray power ups are bad and will power you down) look for hidden red boxes, some are under ground or far away they will some times drop pieces to a rare new ride! collect all 3 pieces to unlock it and you'll wreck everything! enjoy unlocking everything, oh, and before you hit start game click x or y to change your kirby color. if you have any questions about air ride, i can totally help man. have a good one. :DD

Ahh Scyhok, even if you don't make this a series (though I'd love you to do it). I really recommend you continue playing this game in your own time :)). As you hinted on, each track has soo many little secrets/shortcuts. Plus the amount of vehicles available and their differences gives this game much replayability. The City trial is what most people would consider the main attraction to this game. There are soo many secrets and ways to play, and playing with a really buffed out vehicle after 5 minutes of exploring/scrambling for powerputs and stuff is so rewarding :). When you pick up the plasma/spark powerup. Rotate your joystick and your meter should fill up, relasing more significantly more devastating attacks. Also on the city trial, when you went really really fast as you approached the lava, that was just a coincidence, it was a random event. Look towards the bottom of the screen and you can keep up to date with the "Stadium predictions" and "Random events". Looking forward to seeing more content w/e you think of doing next :D
You won't believe how much I love Kirby Air Ride, I spent almost all my time of the game in City Trial, I even completed the checklist for it, such a fun game. Also, you don't need to press A to use the sword, the sword copy ability automatically attacks nearby enemies and racers. And to use the plasma copy ability, to charge it up, just keep tapping the control stick left and right. AND if you need some advice for City Trial, I can provide all the information you need to improve. I would ask to see you play a Crash Bandicoot game, but a full LP of it is highly recommended.
If you spin the joystick, you do a spin attack. Hold charge and back to get off your car. In city trial, random events will occur, yours was a speed boost. Free run is really fun if you have friends. Top ride is top down racing, it's not my favorite. Also in city trial, there are a bunch of underground areas. In the normal city trial game, you can get the dragoon or hydra by breaking shiny red blocks in certain areas and collecting three pieces. You should play more of this game.
The wheelie scooter that you used during the second half is my favorite! If you go off of a ramp or an edge, pull back on the joystick to get some air.

Modes you missed out on: Air Ride - 99 Laps - Damage on. Top Ride - This shit is like crack incarnate. City Trial - 7 minutes - multiplayer. Playing as King Dedede and Meta Knight. All the stages (except maybe the unlockable track) really show off Air Ride's mechanics.
When you have the electric ability you can move the stick thing and launch a giant electric blast. And of course I would really enjoy a let's play of this game! Love your videos!!!
Aw man, this was one of my favorite games as a kid, so I was yelling at the screen the whole time watching this. It's a really fun game once you get the hang of it, but City Trial in particular has a really steep learning curve. After you figure out the ins and outs of City Trial, it's some of the most fun you can have in a game. Personally, I really recommend screwing around in Free Play mode there for a while to get the hang of the different vehicles, how they handle, and the secrets that lie within the city itself.
Scykoh's Guide to Air Ride! 1. Ignore everything City Trial says at the bottom of the screen. 2. Lava makes you go fast because why not. 3. Throw Gordos and bombs then run into them. 4. When there's a picture on the screen in the exact same shape as the star you were just riding on, ignore it and go spend 20 seconds flying somewhere else. 5. Shout "ARRRGH!" as often as possible. 6. Never play Top Ride. In fact, Top Ride doesn't exist.
Scykoh let me tell you something. City trial is a great mode. In that mode you need to optimize your vehicle. Collect some powers that are inside of the boxes. There are 3 types of boxes: the blue one, wich it contains the powers that optimize you machine or food, the red one, this one brings powers like spikes, sword, plasma or it can give you legendary machine pieces, the green one, this contains special items that are fun to use. Some powers can be used by spining, like the tornado it can be charged and if you tilt right and left you can use it. The plasma is charged when you tilt right and left, like if you were spining, if you fully charge it you can throw a big circle of plasma that is powerfull but slow. Also, the speed thing you got it was an event that only happens in city trial, there are many of them and fun aswell. And there is one more thin for you to know, the game have records and a checklist that all game modes have, also i'd like to watch you complete them all is fun.
I would love to see you do more of this. Solely because I want to see how you learn the game as you go while trying to get all the achievements. Since, the achievements are really the only thing that counts for completing the game. It has no story mode or anything of the sort.
A little hint, in city trial there's SOMETIMES pieces of two rare machines called Dragoon and Hydra. You'll only find the pieces for these cars in certain places, they both can spawn sometimes, and the boxes they're in will not be affected by random events.
I really hope you give this another try. If possible I would totally play this with you. So much this game has to offer that is either hidden or takes time to understand.
Kirby Air Ride can be kind of confusing at first, Air Ride is just a race, city trial was my favorite as a kid because it has so much to unlock such as getting the dragoon and hydra vehicles from the red boxes. For the shock ability you have to keep moving the analog to charge it up and the tornado you mve left and right quickly to spin attack with it and theres so much more to explain xD
Scykoh, please make this a series!... Though do watch the tutorials. you did miss a few things. Tips: Don't pick up gray power ups. They are actually power downs. Another tip: if you flick the control stick in... I think it was a circle? Either way, flick it in a circle, and you do that spin attack. Great for Tornado Kirby!
I would really love it to see Kirby Air Ride as a full let's play, and the bonus episode could be you using an Action Replay MAX (it comes with it's own memory card, which you have to insert to Slot-B) and exploring Kirby Air Ride's debug menu, and every single one of the stuff that's in there, that you can't access otherwise. There's exclusive stages, vehicles, stages, you can even play City Trial endlessly WITH THE EVENTS TURNED ON! Normally, it can only be done without the events turned on. There may or may not be any "manual" on using that Debug Menu's ingame features, so I'll give you the scoop of Ice Cream, so you could lick it; Camera controls are the same as Melee (hold D-pad to the right, and use the C-stick to pan the camera, and hold D-pad to the left, and use C-stick up & down to zoom in, and zoom out, respectively), holding R +D-pad down makes some stuff appear. Press those buttons two more times to make the hud dissapear. Three more times to make it reappear, rinse and repeat. Pressing D-pad down will make a black box appear at the top of the screen, when used in City Trial. The last of the options are the best. You can make any event happen whenever you want to by your command, change how the sky looks, etcetera. Also, before you select the level "TEST", turn ENEMYREQ off. If you don't, you get an interactive crash screen (which is controlled with A, and the D-oad, not the Stick pad). Hopefully, the Debug menu inspires you to make another spinoff of the Fest Quest series; CodeQuest, where you use cheats and Action Replays, and Gamesharks, and Game Genies to access things that aren't accessable otherwise. Like for example, in Luigi's Mansion, the Game Boy Horror has a hidden clock app which can only be accessed by using Action Replay (there are two diffent ARs; One where the codes are [as an example:] FOUR-F0U4-F1V3S, and one where the codes are like the Action Replay DS [though I recommend using the Action Replay DSi], where the codes are 8 digits, a space, and 8 more digits, and library of usable digits are the numbers 0 to 9, and letters A to F). To quote James Rolfe, "We like to think outside of the box, and go exploring".

*takes deep breath to prepare for long comment* Tips: Don't use your A Button boost unless you're going around tight turns or pressing a switch on the floor. Instead, ride DIRECTLY behind the person in front of you. It will trigger a different kind of boost. Some of the Power-Ups will fire automatically (like the cannon), some are triggered by pressing A (Fire), spinning (tornado), being near an opponent (sword), or just give you speed (Wheel). Sorry for the long comment. I used to play Kirby Air Ride a lot (Okay, I still do...) and it pained me that I couldn't give you advice while you played. I'm a new subscriber as of Super Mario World Ep. 3 and I've been addicted to your videos since. I hope you do a LP of this game too!
Some more notes: a you hear a high "bling" sound, you've earned an achievement. This is most apparent when you complete a race. You can change options by pressing Z. In Air Ride, you can change between laps and time mode, the latter of which is necessary to earn some achievements. Lap numbers can also be changed, as well as the addition of health. You can change your color by pressing X or Y; some colors are unlocked by achievements, and only work in certain modes. For example, if you earn Green in Air Ride mode, you can't necessarily use him in City Trial mode. I'll talk about Top Ride another time, once you play it. As for City Trial, you can change which event will occur at the end of the 5 minutes instead of having it be random; this can help with earning achievements. You can also change the time from 5 minutes down to 3 minutes or up to 7 minutes, the latter of which is most preferred. We could talk about the Dragoon and the Hydra (the former of which you may know about because of Smash Bros.), but I don't want to overwhelm you with that, or get you side-tracked. Generally if you keep looking for those pieces, you won't be getting many stat increases. Now, random events. They occur during City Trial (at random, obviously). Some are good, some are bad. The ones that are good, you should do something with. These are entering the lighthouse lights, destroying the giant pillar, attacking TAC (he hides underground for your sake), boarding the UFO, and attacking Dyna Blade. For the last one, get on top of a building and make sure your vehicle can fly decently so you can hit her head. Bad events are fog, bouncy items, fake items, flaming rail stations, and a meteor shower. Avoid the meteors, fake items, and rail stations in their events. The others, well..., good luck. There's one more event, in which "all" boxes have the same item. This can be good or bad, depending on what item it is. Boxes will rotate during this event. however, some boxes will not (they are always red). This means they have a Dragoon/Hydra piece in them, but I will not elaborate much further. When I feel you're ready to find those parts, I will educate you. One last thing. You can omit some of the computer players if you so wish; also, you might want to change the port you're using. You're in Player 4's port, so you might want to go to Player 1; but maybe that's just preference. Enjoy the game.
If you do a full lets play of this, try walking around without your warp star on some of the bigger courses, it's fun to explore as if it was a main series 3D Kirby game :)

How about The Stanley Parable? I doubt many have heard of it, but it's actually quite interesting and might be good for this format. I don't want to sound like a guy who's pushing his "favorite game" on everyone, so it's not my favorite game, and I implore you to just spend three minutes watching the game played. Quite the interesting premise.
Here's a couple of tips just cuz Spining the controller skin gives you a sort of attack and that also how you use Torando and break wall, as well as certain other things The boost should be used more as a break than anything else, so don't hold anything when the race starts, you where unintentially giving yourself a disadvantage To use Plasma you need to build up enegy by ether no using it or spining the controll stick lastly for city run the gray icons are power downs don't get them
Love this game, but it was clear you had no idea what you were doing. I remember not knowing anything either, took me a while to figure out everything. I only ever got the vehicles you need to find pieces for like 5 times. This makes me want to play this again.

please play this more. I loved that game so much when I had it and I really do miss seeing it. I worked so hard on that game I even had the 2 legendary vehicles as well. if I were you I would go to the city again and go to free run. best way to test out all the vehicles in the game.

I'm wondering if there's something out there that might be a little better than what I have currently which is Hauppauge's HD PVR 2. If you flick the control stick back when you go off a jump you rump higher. If you hold A and pull the control stick back you jump off your car, and if you tail gate people if front of you you go faster. And you can change your kirby color by hitting x or y after you selected your car.
You should do a full play through of Banjo-Kazio Nuts and Bolts!! Also just wanted to tell you that I accidentally found you and you sir are Amazing! Keep it up!

Great video Scykoh. City trial is actually the main attraction of the game. The event after the 5 minutes is random and you happened to get unlucky and get demolition derby but usually it'll be a race.
An LP of this would be something that I'd watch, but there's some things to note about the game.
-The game is more about completing all the records than playing all the tracks or all of the stadiums, which means that there would probably be a lot of repetition of content. The LP would probably be very editing heavy.
-City Trial is probably the most time consuming part of the game if you're going for all of the records, because in order to have a chance at some of them, you need a really great start to it.
A few tips, with some added vagueness for avoiding spoiling things that are in the game, for if you decide to make a series on this anyway:
-If you're not sure what a power does, try rotating the control stick; notably for tornado and electricity. You'll get to know the stars and powerups as you play. Powerups are based on time, not uses, except for the Gordos.
-You can re-watch tutorials at the menu screen for the game mode. "How to Play"
-City Trial is a lot like smash run, but the gray power ups are negative effects, and you lose stats for having your star destroyed. Generally, you also want to replace your starting star for anything else by getting off of it and onto a new one, which randomly spawn in the map.
-Red and Green boxes are almost the same, except that when NOT in the city portion of the map, red boxes can have secrets. Blue boxes almost exclusively hold stats in them. You can spin attack to help break them faster.
-The boost you got in City Trial was a random event, prefaced by a warning siren. Other messages that hint at your stadium event can appear at the bottom of the screen periodically.
-If you hear a high pitched ring when you finish a course, that's you getting a record; good job. Records unlock new stadium matches, new air ride/top ride courses, new Kirby colors, new stars for air ride, and are like if there was 300 achievements in one game. They range from just playing a course for the first time, to getting like 15 or 20 kills in a single destruction derby. Some records give you a purple block, which counts a record as cleared, but stick out like a sore thumb if you complete the entire board.
-There's a lot of destructible things in Air Ride and City Trial. Super secret shortcuts and areas.
I loved this game as a kid, mostly for city trial. It was cool discovering all the hidden secrets and taking part in the awesome random events, and of course unlocking everything. I would like to see more episodes of this, and maybe you could play it with a friend to make it even more fun.

The most fun game mode is defiantly city trial and you can have a goal to complete all of the achievements. I have had this game for years and it still hasn't gotten old, Kirby air ride is really fun to play with friends and you can race each other and try to kill each other
I know Masahiro Sakurai worked on both games and created both series, but holy crap does that game remind me of Super Smash Bros Melee! O.o Anyway, I'm glad to finally see this, I've been waiting for it for so long! ^^

I love this game, and played it like crazy when i was younger. holding L or R really helps with sharp turns and easy drifting. quickly tap the toggle stick left and right to spin out to knock kirbs away when you dont have any power ups.In city trial, the point is to find a star (ride) and collect items and make it bulky and fast for the game at the end. (like smash 4's run) random events will happen while playing like the speed boost you got, or sometimes meteors will come crashing down, or rail ways will be on fire! blue boxes will have power ups, green will have weapons, and red will be random. (gray power ups are bad and will power you down) look for hidden red boxes, some are under ground or far away they will some times drop pieces to a rare new ride! collect all 3 pieces to unlock it and you'll wreck everything! enjoy unlocking everything, oh, and before you hit start game click x or y to change your kirby color. if you have any questions about air ride, i can totally help man. have a good one. :DD

Ahh Scyhok, even if you don't make this a series (though I'd love you to do it). I really recommend you continue playing this game in your own time :)). As you hinted on, each track has soo many little secrets/shortcuts. Plus the amount of vehicles available and their differences gives this game much replayability. The City trial is what most people would consider the main attraction to this game. There are soo many secrets and ways to play, and playing with a really buffed out vehicle after 5 minutes of exploring/scrambling for powerputs and stuff is so rewarding :).
When you pick up the plasma/spark powerup. Rotate your joystick and your meter should fill up, relasing more significantly more devastating attacks.
Also on the city trial, when you went really really fast as you approached the lava, that was just a coincidence, it was a random event. Look towards the bottom of the screen and you can keep up to date with the "Stadium predictions" and "Random events". Looking forward to seeing more content w/e you think of doing next :D

You won't believe how much I love Kirby Air Ride, I spent almost all my time of the game in City Trial, I even completed the checklist for it, such a fun game.
Also, you don't need to press A to use the sword, the sword copy ability automatically attacks nearby enemies and racers. And to use the plasma copy ability, to charge it up, just keep tapping the control stick left and right.
AND if you need some advice for City Trial, I can provide all the information you need to improve.
I would ask to see you play a Crash Bandicoot game, but a full LP of it is highly recommended.
If you spin the joystick, you do a spin attack. Hold charge and back to get off your car. In city trial, random events will occur, yours was a speed boost. Free run is really fun if you have friends. Top ride is top down racing, it's not my favorite. Also in city trial, there are a bunch of underground areas. In the normal city trial game, you can get the dragoon or hydra by breaking shiny red blocks in certain areas and collecting three pieces. You should play more of this game.
The wheelie scooter that you used during the second half is my favorite! If you go off of a ramp or an edge, pull back on the joystick to get some air.

Aw man, this was one of my favorite games as a kid, so I was yelling at the screen the whole time watching this. It's a really fun game once you get the hang of it, but City Trial in particular has a really steep learning curve. After you figure out the ins and outs of City Trial, it's some of the most fun you can have in a game. Personally, I really recommend screwing around in Free Play mode there for a while to get the hang of the different vehicles, how they handle, and the secrets that lie within the city itself.
Scykoh's Guide to Air Ride!
1. Ignore everything City Trial says at the bottom of the screen.
2. Lava makes you go fast because why not.
3. Throw Gordos and bombs then run into them.
4. When there's a picture on the screen in the exact same shape as the star you were just riding on, ignore it and go spend 20 seconds flying somewhere else.
5. Shout "ARRRGH!" as often as possible.
6. Never play Top Ride. In fact, Top Ride doesn't exist.
Your reaction to this game was priceless, city trial mode is definitly most fun once you learn how to play it.
Please make this a series.
City Trials is the Addicting part of air ride
Scykoh let me tell you something. City trial is a great mode. In that mode you need to optimize your vehicle. Collect some powers that are inside of the boxes. There are 3 types of boxes: the blue one, wich it contains the powers that optimize you machine or food, the red one, this one brings powers like spikes, sword, plasma or it can give you legendary machine pieces, the green one, this contains special items that are fun to use. Some powers can be used by spining, like the tornado it can be charged and if you tilt right and left you can use it. The plasma is charged when you tilt right and left, like if you were spining, if you fully charge it you can throw a big circle of plasma that is powerfull but slow. Also, the speed thing you got it was an event that only happens in city trial, there are many of them and fun aswell. And there is one more thin for you to know, the game have records and a checklist that all game modes have, also i'd like to watch you complete them all is fun.
I would love to see you do more of this. Solely because I want to see how you learn the game as you go while trying to get all the achievements. Since, the achievements are really the only thing that counts for completing the game. It has no story mode or anything of the sort.
A little hint, in city trial there's SOMETIMES pieces of two rare machines called Dragoon and Hydra. You'll only find the pieces for these cars in certain places, they both can spawn sometimes, and the boxes they're in will not be affected by random events.

Kirby Air Ride can be kind of confusing at first, Air Ride is just a race, city trial was my favorite as a kid because it has so much to unlock such as getting the dragoon and hydra vehicles from the red boxes. For the shock ability you have to keep moving the analog to charge it up and the tornado you mve left and right quickly to spin attack with it and theres so much more to explain xD

about the powers, with Plasma, you can charge up by moving the control stick back and forth. The Tornado you use by spinning/full boost charge.
Scykoh, please make this a series!... Though do watch the tutorials. you did miss a few things. Tips: Don't pick up gray power ups. They are actually power downs.
Another tip: if you flick the control stick in... I think it was a circle? Either way, flick it in a circle, and you do that spin attack. Great for Tornado Kirby!

Actually Scykoh, it is the beloved City Trial mode that brings everyone to revisit this game ^3^
I would really love it to see Kirby Air Ride as a full let's play, and the bonus episode could be you using an Action Replay MAX (it comes with it's own memory card, which you have to insert to Slot-B) and exploring Kirby Air Ride's debug menu, and every single one of the stuff that's in there, that you can't access otherwise. There's exclusive stages, vehicles, stages, you can even play City Trial endlessly WITH THE EVENTS TURNED ON! Normally, it can only be done without the events turned on. There may or may not be any "manual" on using that Debug Menu's ingame features, so I'll give you the scoop of Ice Cream, so you could lick it; Camera controls are the same as Melee (hold D-pad to the right, and use the C-stick to pan the camera, and hold D-pad to the left, and use C-stick up & down to zoom in, and zoom out, respectively), holding R +D-pad down makes some stuff appear. Press those buttons two more times to make the hud dissapear. Three more times to make it reappear, rinse and repeat. Pressing D-pad down will make a black box appear at the top of the screen, when used in City Trial. The last of the options are the best. You can make any event happen whenever you want to by your command, change how the sky looks, etcetera. Also, before you select the level "TEST", turn ENEMYREQ off. If you don't, you get an interactive crash screen (which is controlled with A, and the D-oad, not the Stick pad). Hopefully, the Debug menu inspires you to make another spinoff of the Fest Quest series; CodeQuest, where you use cheats and Action Replays, and Gamesharks, and Game Genies to access things that aren't accessable otherwise. Like for example, in Luigi's Mansion, the Game Boy Horror has a hidden clock app which can only be accessed by using Action Replay (there are two diffent ARs; One where the codes are [as an example:] FOUR-F0U4-F1V3S, and one where the codes are like the Action Replay DS [though I recommend using the Action Replay DSi], where the codes are 8 digits, a space, and 8 more digits, and library of usable digits are the numbers 0 to 9, and letters A to F). To quote James Rolfe, "We like to think outside of the box, and go exploring".

*takes deep breath to prepare for long comment* Tips: Don't use your A Button boost unless you're going around tight turns or pressing a switch on the floor. Instead, ride DIRECTLY behind the person in front of you. It will trigger a different kind of boost. Some of the Power-Ups will fire automatically (like the cannon), some are triggered by pressing A (Fire), spinning (tornado), being near an opponent (sword), or just give you speed (Wheel). Sorry for the long comment. I used to play Kirby Air Ride a lot (Okay, I still do...) and it pained me that I couldn't give you advice while you played. I'm a new subscriber as of Super Mario World Ep. 3 and I've been addicted to your videos since. I hope you do a LP of this game too!
Some more notes: a you hear a high "bling" sound, you've earned an achievement. This is most apparent when you complete a race. You can change options by pressing Z. In Air Ride, you can change between laps and time mode, the latter of which is necessary to earn some achievements. Lap numbers can also be changed, as well as the addition of health. You can change your color by pressing X or Y; some colors are unlocked by achievements, and only work in certain modes. For example, if you earn Green in Air Ride mode, you can't necessarily use him in City Trial mode. I'll talk about Top Ride another time, once you play it. As for City Trial, you can change which event will occur at the end of the 5 minutes instead of having it be random; this can help with earning achievements. You can also change the time from 5 minutes down to 3 minutes or up to 7 minutes, the latter of which is most preferred. We could talk about the Dragoon and the Hydra (the former of which you may know about because of Smash Bros.), but I don't want to overwhelm you with that, or get you side-tracked. Generally if you keep looking for those pieces, you won't be getting many stat increases. Now, random events. They occur during City Trial (at random, obviously). Some are good, some are bad. The ones that are good, you should do something with. These are entering the lighthouse lights, destroying the giant pillar, attacking TAC (he hides underground for your sake), boarding the UFO, and attacking Dyna Blade. For the last one, get on top of a building and make sure your vehicle can fly decently so you can hit her head. Bad events are fog, bouncy items, fake items, flaming rail stations, and a meteor shower. Avoid the meteors, fake items, and rail stations in their events. The others, well..., good luck. There's one more event, in which "all" boxes have the same item. This can be good or bad, depending on what item it is. Boxes will rotate during this event. however, some boxes will not (they are always red). This means they have a Dragoon/Hydra piece in them, but I will not elaborate much further. When I feel you're ready to find those parts, I will educate you. One last thing. You can omit some of the computer players if you so wish; also, you might want to change the port you're using. You're in Player 4's port, so you might want to go to Player 1; but maybe that's just preference. Enjoy the game.

pro tip: you can increase the time limit by 7 minutes which REALLY helps with the hydra and dragon parts
If you change it to six or seven minutes, it randomizes where the parts spawn, so its not really useful to do that if you just want the legendaries

Here's a couple of tips just cuz
Spining the controller skin gives you a sort of attack and that also how you use Torando and break wall, as well as certain other things
The boost should be used more as a break than anything else, so don't hold anything when the race starts, you where unintentially giving yourself a disadvantage
To use Plasma you need to build up enegy by ether no using it or spining the controll stick
lastly for city run the gray icons are power downs don't get them
Love this game, but it was clear you had no idea what you were doing. I remember not knowing anything either, took me a while to figure out everything. I only ever got the vehicles you need to find pieces for like 5 times. This makes me want to play this again.

If you flick the control stick back when you go off a jump you rump higher. If you hold A and pull the control stick back you jump off your car, and if you tail gate people if front of you you go faster. And you can change your kirby color by hitting x or y after you selected your car.
