That Mass Effect theme immediately takes me back to 2007; what an experience the first time playing that game was. I wish I could do it all over again.
Xbox in the past: While technological advances are impressive, they're meaningless without the users Xbox now: 4K, 4K, 6 teraflops, 4K, 8-core, 2.3 GHz, 12 GB, 21 twinkies, 4K!
Bob Saget No. My Wii and Wii U were dropped multiple times while playing Smash. (GameCube controllers are a pain at times.) The disc were perfectly fine without a scratch.
Drason Vender you could nudge it a little bit and it could fall to the floor, or something like that. Shit happens, it doesn't mean you're an idiot if the DVD drive on your console is technically flawed.
Did you know? She most likely never saw her original Xbox ever again. Microsoft were caught replacing people's consoles with ones they had previously replaced parts on just to be able to uphold the 3 week repair time.
Retards get there console repaired. We had 2 xboxs (ones power adapter thing broke) and they both had red rings but still survived even a full red ring not 3 or 2 but 4. Still worked if you turned it off and turned it onm
Moo5tar I'm glad you love your 360. It's good that you can enjoy the system. I personally despise the Xbox brand but I have no issues with people enjoying it. I seriously get sick of idiots throwing temper tantrums whenever someone says they love a game system. I actually knew a grown man that would ban people from his chat room if anyone said they loved the Xbox. Sorry for ranting. Lol. I just wish there were more people like you who could express themselves without man children whining about it.
1:16 Did you know? Despite showing the console in the upright position playing discs in promotional material, doing so could irreparably harm the disc and disc reader by the laser lens coming into contact with it.
If you're not a gamer that's used a controller for years, it's complicated. It's like flying a plane in good weather. For an experienced pilot, it's no big deal. For a non-pilot, it's freak'n complicated.
Who else remembers meeting so many cool friends on xboxlive with the same interests you had? Only to slowly drift away from each other and never speak to them ever again... *sniff*
That gen started so bad, you reminded me of all the furstration i had at the time, and that's why i got the Wii, it had what i wanted right in the box.
Fun Fact: The lowest display resolution that can be selected on the Xbox 360 console is 640 x 480 (4:3). But not all games supported the normal aspect ratio, by that time widescreen mode was already popular. To fit a frame with an aspect ratio of 16:9 into a resolution with an aspect ratio of 4:3, the Letterbox method is used. Thus, many games worked in a resolution of 640 x 360 (16:9). When choosing a resolution of 640 x 480, games such as Forza Horizon 1 and 2 will work in a resolution of 640 x 360.
xbox 2 was not rejected because "it was predictable", it was rejected because it felt like going back because Sony was already on PS3. this was said during an interview!
I loved the Xbox 360. One of my fondest memories, not just gaming but in general, was a nine-hour Halo Reach session. During the late 2000s, we didn't get any of the seventh generation consoles, so I didn't really play video games during that period. We got our 360 for Christmas in 2009, and I really began playing it in the Summer of 2010. The Halo Forge Epidemic regularly held playdates, and I got into one on a weekend in the Spring of 2011. I was there the whole game, roughly nine hours in all.
I got the Xbox 360 Christmas 2005 when it came out, and I remember the smell unboxing the box that morning plus the smell of PGR3 case. The 360 was loaded with a video on how they came out with and made the xbox 360.
The Xbox 360 and the Wii were the last consoles to be developed with passion and genuine intention to push the medium forward. They were the last consoles that took risks. Everything that came after was only motivated by profit and played it too safe
Microsoft was very lucky that their console was the only next gen console in the market for an entire year. If PS3 came out at the same time, they would have lost a lot of customers to the RRoD since they would have an alternative. Back then, it was either deal with the RRoD, or have nothing else.
I'm digging all the Nuts and Bolts clips/music in the video. Whoever put this video together has good taste. Edit: It appears my hat goes off to Luis Illingworth.
The xbox 360 was actually good. Not only the earliest, but also the latest in the generation. Lets just forget the red rings of death in those early years
Craft2299 I hate this thing for wireless controllers that forced me to buy charging wire for half the price of controller itself, and then another one to be able to connect it to pc. And the graphics looked horrible in later games - far cry 3 having the worst aliasing.
I got my Xbox 360 in the Summer of 2006 and was having a great time with games like Oblivion, Marble Blast Ultra, PGR3, Call of Duty 2, Perfect Dark Zero, and Ghost Recon. I mainly got it that early so I could have it ready for Dead Rising (why I wanted the console). I got it at the perfect time when there were so many games coming out; I was still fresh off of playing the original Xbox (still play it to this day with over 150 titles in my collection). I miss the old Blade dashboard, too.
Did you know? No? Well, let me tell you: I know something that you probably don't know. So therefore, I know that you don't know what I know! So now you know what I know!
I remember going with my brother for the release of the 360. I also remember coming home, playing it for 20 minutes only to get the RRoD. He proceeded to blow it up with firecrackers. That was a fun day.
Tj277 It really didn't. It has a pretty strong string of first and third party games, and it's been leading the console market for the past 3 months in terms of sales figures, with nearly one-to-one sales for BoTW
Man, I miss my 360, played a lot of great shmups with that wonderful little machine, Raiden IV, Otomedius, Akai Katana, Dodonpachi, deathsmiles... MICROSOFT Y U DONT BRING SHMUPS TO XBOX ONE?!
That's a pretty cool explanation for the Xbox 360 name, honestly. VERY curious to know what their thought process was for Xbox One, Xbox One S and Xbox One X... Also, why did you use freakin' Nuts & Bolts so much? That's not a memorable or even good game for the 360 Oo
AzureDarkGod The "one" in Xbox one relates to that you'll only have "one" device for all your media related purposes, The "s" obviously means slim and the "x" is basically 'xtreme'
my xbox360 red ringed 4 times making me send it back meanwhile my release ps2 and ps3 are still running well with huge play times on them. The 360 maybe did not soil everyone opinion of xbox but it destroyed mine.
My favourite piece of trivia for the 360 was that the very early "development kits" for the console were just Apple Power Macintosh G5 computers that Microsoft advised their partners to buy to development for the PPC architecture. The games shown on the first E3 for the 360 were running off Apple computers, their graphics weren't very good due to the weaker GPU in the Power Macintosh, so the games looked better when they were released than when they were demo'd. Microsoft now use high-spec PCs to show off their Xbox games.
I own and still play the original white Xbox 360, I red ringed several times but thankfully never needed to repair. I haven't red ringed in 5 years! Love this console.
I think it's down to the direction Microsoft originally was taking when the started showing it, TV TV TV, now it's more a media center system, not a games console. Also the UI doesn't work so well for a console.
I think the downfall of Microsoft was seeded during the Xbox 360 years. Kinect was enough of a success that Microsoft felt they could do the TV stuff and charge an extra $100 for the Xbox One because they were including Kinect. Plus, Microsoft focusing Rare on Kinect killed that developer. Also, it was during the Xbox 360 cycle that Microsoft began cutting first-party production and relied on Halo, Forza, and Gears. At least back then, though, they also had Fable. Still, the early 360 years were great, but later in its life, that's when Microsoft began laying the foundation for Xbox One, and we all know how that turned out.
Leighton Williams They have started focusing more on games ever since Phil Spencer was named head of Xbox. The previous head of Xbox fucked it up. That last guy was the one who ultimately fucked Xbox.
The Xbox 360 was the greatest console of its time it brought families together, got many into gaming, and all around achieved greatness. Rest peacefully my friend no one will forget your legend.
I miss my Xbox 360. I had a great time playing online with it more than any other console today. I also do remember sending my Xbox back for repairs like three times, then I noticed they actually sent me a different Xbox instead of actually fixing it. I want another Xbox 360 right now. Pawn shop here I come!!
Switch Speedster it's in its early years... and actually kinda shit because it's early. I'm not saying it'll be shit in the end, but it's not very good right now.
ChingBlingtheKing The Switch is working like a charm for many people right now and most of the hardware issues and those videos of supposedly broken Switches have started to fade.
I'm sorry but my 360 never reminded me of kissing on a ferris wheel lmao
Joe Bravo Are you related to Johnny Bravo?
The 360 was my first XBOX
Xbox 2 was too predictable? Well they did a good job with the Xbox one cause nobody predicted that.
Gengar60 It's an even worse name than the WII U!
TheManiacZach Or Atari 2600
They should have just called Wii U the DS U, would have made way more sense and prob caused less confusion.....
No, Wii II or Super Wii would've been better names if Nintendo wanted to keep the Wii branding. Calling it the DS U would've probably garnered the same kind of confusion as "Wii U" did.

If the average person can't use a controller I must be a genius
Yukiko best girl? Ah, I see you are a man of culture as well.
Yes my friend I do not have plebian taste for those such as Naoto Shirogane or Rise Kujikawa
A few months ago I played with an xbox controller, it took some time to get used to but it played really well for me. The ones who can't use the controllers are probably mentally challenged or they are babies who just came out of the womb
probably. Idk though I've played games since I was 5 so controllers come naturally to me. I've had some family members get really confused when using the switch joycon.
ive been gaming since the N64 (1st console I played was the Genesis though.) and I agree tht controllers come natural to me too. (I used to luv playing my PS2 but ive grown to the point where the PS controller hurts my hands so no more PS for me unless they release an emulator (ill buy the physical copies and give them out to anyone for free, just so it makes me feel a little better about using iso (ROMs) of their games. :P)

SO many amazing memories with my 360. Glad to say I've had mine for so long.
To top it off WeeklyTubeShow narrating it was A+
"X Box 2 because it was too predictable"
years later....
XBox one because we were High
The all in *One* console. Because they were trying to make the console do everything.
Couldn't they call it like the Xbox Nexus or something then? Xbox One is a terrible name either way.
The XBox One X is XBOX, they planned it all along...
Letonintendo dude fuck your profile pic don't get mad at me just because I don't want to be apart of your family
Xbox One X because we're as stupid as we are high
Ironic that the 360s Codename was Trinity
Years later the PSVR and PS4 Pro would have the Codenames Morpheus and Neo
The PlayStation and XBOX teams must like The Matrix
EspioTheTriforce whats next, the nintendo labo having a codename “agent smith”?
xD
Not irony but a fun fact
Sexual harassment simulator 2007 was a pretty sick Kinect game.
would love to have seen achievements for that game

Remember guys, DON'T move your xbox while it's playing a disc.
That disc will be trash if you do
Isn't that for everything tho?
Bob Saget
No. My Wii and Wii U were dropped multiple times while playing Smash. (GameCube controllers are a pain at times.) The disc were perfectly fine without a scratch.
My question is, WHO would be stupid enough to do that?
Drason Vender you could nudge it a little bit and it could fall to the floor, or something like that. Shit happens, it doesn't mean you're an idiot if the DVD drive on your console is technically flawed.
kinda forgot that was a problem then i remember my sonic 06 disk... my 360 saved me.
Given how poorly Balmer's reign over MS turned, it's kind of admirable he didn't hesitate to greenlight the budget for its recall and repair.
"360 reminded people of positive experiences like kissing."
... What?
The Xbox 360 still my favorite console ever made, I have so much great memories with it.
My sister's Xbox 360 got the red ring of death. She got it repaired and it still works great today.
Hello There, I'm Axolotl, Esquire Thats good dude, thats lucky of her lol my cousin got lazy to repair hers
Did you know? She most likely never saw her original Xbox ever again. Microsoft were caught replacing people's consoles with ones they had previously replaced parts on just to be able to uphold the 3 week repair time.
Well, whatever. If I got a working Xbox I'm not really complaining. It still does what it's supposed to do, right?
Retards get there console repaired. We had 2 xboxs (ones power adapter thing broke) and they both had red rings but still survived even a full red ring not 3 or 2 but 4. Still worked if you turned it off and turned it onm
GamerYT the 4 red rings just means there’s a problem with the AV cables or HDMI cables. The true red ring of death is 3 red lights.
"Xbox 2 was too predictable" which is why the subsequent consoles are xbox 1 and xbox 1 x
Instead they went absolutely unpredictable and often counter-intuitive... Great call, lol.
Xbox 360..the current peak of Microsoft's run in the game industry.
Glad Phil Spencer is running things now, though wish he knew that 4K means shit compared to 60fps...Especially to those not running on a 4k monitor.
I have good news buddy...
Oh the Xbox 360. That console was part of my childhood.
real fact: it was called 360 because the Play station was on it's 3rd console, and X Box 2 would appear as an inferior device
did you know the xbox 360 is still selling at $100 despite the xbox one selling for $200
Waited for this video for years. Seriously
Xbox 360... man the good times I had on mine...
:(
Kevin Contento exactly the same here, except I kept my xbox one so i could play a few back compat titles since both of my 360s got redringed.

The Mass Effect Galaxy Map theme being used throughout the video is a nice touch.
Xenon is the name the processor used in the Xbox 360, that's why it's was chosen as the codename not because it started with an x.
Christian Young It was also the name of the first motherboard revision
And the processor is called that because Xenon starts with an X
I don't care what other people might say or think:

Xbox 360 was a great console. Unfortunatly the same can't be said about the Xbox One.

Charli3_ Boii Xbox One is alright, but it had a horrible launch

So much animosity. What a great console it was and provided great memories. Self entitles children.
How exactly does the name "Xbox 360" remind people of kissing on a ferris wheel... like what?
I like how a lot of these console stories involve competitors either accidentally helping or straight-up creating their rivals.

I got my Xbox 360 in the Summer of 2006 and was having a great time with games like Oblivion, Marble Blast Ultra, PGR3, Call of Duty 2, Perfect Dark Zero, and Ghost Recon. I think it's down to the direction Microsoft originally was taking when the started showing it, TV TV TV, now it's more a media center system, not a games console. Also the UI doesn't work so well for a console.
I don't understand this "downfall". I have all of the consoles and the Xbox serves its purpose.
The downfall of the Xbox started the moment Don Mattrick walked through the door
Oh geez, now you got me thinking of the good old 360 days, filled with the first dark souls and halo reach and whatnot
The Xbox 360 was the greatest console of its time it brought families together, got many into gaming, and all around achieved greatness. Rest peacefully my friend no one will forget your legend.
I'm honestly surprised some people didn't like it
AceTrainerNoah I'd say ps2 is greatest of all time
Reinaldo Martinez This is a very subjective matter...everyone has favorite consoles based mainly in nostalgia
Reinaldo Martinez Well yeah I consider it the greatest in it's console generation
Mimu Mi Ha true I fixed mine on my own and I still loved it
I miss my Xbox 360. I had a great time playing online with it more than any other console today. I also do remember sending my Xbox back for repairs like three times, then I noticed they actually sent me a different Xbox instead of actually fixing it.
I want another Xbox 360 right now. Pawn shop here I come!!
Did You Know Gaming: Nintendo Switch?
Switch Speedster it's in its early years... and actually kinda shit because it's early. I'm not saying it'll be shit in the end, but it's not very good right now.
ChingBlingtheKing
what do you mean?
ChingBlingtheKing The Switch is working like a charm for many people right now and most of the hardware issues and those videos of supposedly broken Switches have started to fade.
Years ago, my Xbox 360 red ringed, I turned it off and back on, it was fine after that and hasn't screwed me over majorly since!
LOL i JUST sold my 360 2 hours ago (im serious). This vid seems like a good sendoff.
Jeremy Trigger how much did you get for it. what make and model was it?
RicksterGaming thats weird i just bought a ps4 i still got my 360 though but i still have gold so i got a xbox one too
Jeremy Trigger I sold my 360 as well in exchange for getting money for a Playstation 4.
I've been waiting for this video for about 2 years!
Can you do another video about TF2? The 10 Year anniversary is coming.
My first online console, had the greatest time playing Halo 3, GTA IV and Cod 4.
I am still a 360 gamer, and I am happy with it. But I have to say I have experienced 6 red ring of deaths.
6 RROD´s in 10 years. and 5 of them went to the warranty.
what the fuck... 6 times and you don't mind ? I couldn't ever trust brand again if it broke on me so many times
At least Microsoft dealt it really nicely. Unlike Asus, they sold me a broken router and refused to refund it.
love the mass effect music in the background xD
