Just bought me a 2020 and am going to use your affiliate links to get the parts needed to do this.. the question I have though is will this deactivate the Ford Pass usability? I don’t believe my system is a sync system either…
Since it's not specifically covered in the video. Attach the Blue Center channel wire to the black radio ground, and the backup camera of a Non-Sync Transit 2024 will work. I just finished this install myself. It works. Otherwise all you get is a black screen. So while youre building the harness just make that connection and it will be fine. Great video! Very helpful.
Dear friend, what a great job, you took me away from a mega job. I'm working in Canada and believe me, this job is super awesome. What you're really doing, you're really a badass, like Simos in Mexico. I've been doing this for 17 years and I can't finish learning and more here it is more complicated because I don't speak English nor do I read it, I'm barely learning
Thanks for the video! I have spent the day installing the radio on my 2020 350HD with components I bought thru the affiliate link. I have one issue. I can’t seem to get the rear camera to work. I have a sync system and everything seems connected properly, just can’t get that camera to work. Any thought? I saw another short online talking about grounding the rca outer ring directly and that didn’t work either.
If you have sync, you need to use the Sync Video retention harness (AXBUCH-FD1) which plugs into the video input of the radio, not he video input on the axxess harness (AXTC-FD3) that connects to the radio side. The Sync module powers the camera which is why in your specific trim, it's needed. Non Sync models you may have to ground a wire in the radio harness as there is no sync module to retain.
Im installing a powered subwoofer and im wondering where i should tap onto the speaker level lines for the input. Is the harness on the right side at 2:27 the speaker wire output?
Looks like that's it from what I found on FordTransitUSA Forum. Colors at radio harness are: Left front + = White Left Front - = White/Brown Right Front + = White/Violet Right Front - = White/Orange
Awesome video. One thing I’m confused about- is there a reason an idatalink Maestro module is not needed on this stereo to retain factory steering wheel settings? Is it just not compatible with the Transit?
also, the bit about "pinning" the blue wire is a little confusing? Does it infact just connect with pin 24 on the radio harness in order to ground it? How does one do that? and what does one do with the black wire in that case? Thanks
Great video! Im a little unclear on the USB function though; for non-sync vans, do the adapters suggested attach to leads that go directly into the factory usb ports? Or do they just become "new" usb ports i need to mount elsewhere? and if so, what happens to the factory usb ports? Thanks
If I buy all the stuff that I need to do it. how much it would cost me the installation service. Doesn't have to give me an exact number, around how much would be? Thanks! Excellent video!
Hello, thank you for the great tutorial. I’m having a couple pf issues. First Issue: I had two harness connectors for the AM/FM antenna so I just guessed and hooked one of them up but now I don’t get any AM radio. In your video there was only one connector. Second Issue: I cannot get the back camera to work. I am sure I hooked it up correctly and I hooked up the blue wire to ground it but I only get the black screen with the red and yellow guides but no image. Hoping you can help because it’s a pain to reverse without that camera. Thanks in advance for any help you can give.
I’d you have sync, you need the sync extra harness and will not sure the one on the primary harness. The am / dm is usually a larger cable, as the blue is for the screen, and yellow is for the xm sat antenna.
Hey, is there anywhere I can check which cable corresponds to what signal on a 2015 Transit 250? Color matching sounds wonderful but, if it’s not always a direct fit, and the battery has to be disconnected, how can I check for signals? Like let’s say reverse, or battery positive ?
thank you very much for the great video. unfortunately the picture of the camera was not shown. Is the camera over the full screen and the guidelines/pdc are still active? Thank you for your response
Yes, the dynamic guidelines and image was full screen. Remember, we had the factory SYNC system as well. This radio simply just displayed the camera's image, the image processing and guidelines were still produced by the vehicle. We did show the reverse image @18:40
Sensational video.. May I ask. Does hands the factory hans free hardware work with all of the plug and play or do you need the mic supplied in the box to be installed? Thankyou
How did you retain the factory USB sockets ? In you parts list you indicate the USB-GM1, but in the video you mention they are a hub from the SYNC system and can only be retained for charging ?
If you have Sync, they are not retainable and remain as charge only. Non-Sync would use the Pac USB-GM1 adapters that allow you to plug those cables into the new radio for use of CarPlay, Android Auto, multi-media, etc.
Any downsides to replacing my factory 2021 Sync3 with this unit? I like the wireless (Apple?) Car Play. Will all my steering wheel controls will still operate correctly (including the Adaptive Cruise Control)?
It's a solid unit. Huge upgrade over factory, but depends on how ambitious you are for the install. All factory steering wheel control buttons were retained, and audio buttons to the new radio. Only downside is the issue with the USB ports, but if you keep the Sync module connected, they will become charge only. Outside of that, we retained everything. Everything should be linked in the description!
good morning im saw your videos and im think maybe you can help me,ive a ford transit custom 2019 with 4'' screen and ill replace it with the original full radio sync 3 8'' screen. im boughted already apim, acm and display but i need the wires to connect it plus my van looking do not have the apim. can you please help me? do you sell parts? do you have any video? im desperated, thank you for any help

Hi, I recently installed an aftermarket head unit. Not the same one but similar procedure. I was wondering if its possible to retain the Ford microphone for calls and if so which wire is it, and is there an adapter for it. Thanks!
@@ProvoBeastAudio thats a bummer, but also explains why excess googling for microphone adapters comes up short. Thanks for answering and great video! Helped me out a ton!
Great video! Question for you. Would it be better to order a Transit with or without SYNC if installing a similar radio? One of the many delays with the new Transit is the 12 inch touch-screen I've learned.
You can do both. The benefit of Non-sync is you can repurpose the USB ports for the new radio where as the SYNC version, they can only be used as charge.
Great detailed video - One question: one of your parts from Amazon, the PAC USB-GM1 adapter shows that it's for General motors and Chrysler. Is that still the same part for Ford?
Works great for the Ford. The harness adapter is simply a female mini USB adapter to male type A adapter. It's branded as GM, but works on any application.
I have notes in the description for those that don't have sync. You may either have to increase the video voltage of the camera, ground, the camera shield in a different location, or a combination of the two.
By default on this radio there are no cameras activated when you first install it. Go into the radio settings and you can select your factory camera. Even if the wiring is correct, you won't have a backup camera until you do this.
@ProvoBeastAudio I'm moving into my vehicle soon and will be looking at a transit, but with having to be aware of it having a sync 3 and so many other features prior to buying it used I'm wondering if this upgrade is a little too much NEED THIS NEED THAT.
