The glitter vinyl I purchased was specifically for applique but it has a rough, sandy finish on top. It kept fraying and breaking my thread. What are your thoughts on this?

This is not HTV this is sewing vinyl "faux" leather if that's how you want to look at it. It can be purchased in many places but the one she is talking about is mypunkbroidery.com they have a great selection of shiny vinyls (glitter, mirrored, mermaid scales, "patent" leather as well as some basketball, and football, and softball looking ones.
hello u know i buy the sheets at hobby lobby and i have not had any problems with glitter comming off that i have used the one you are using and you are suppossed to take that clear plastic off but now on that one there the glitter does comes off so i dont use that any more so i buy the sheets from hobby lobby thats what i use
MAKING THREAD PRETTY you must be thinking about a different glitter vinyl. This vinyl has a clear coat on top of the vinyl that does not come off. The glitter is under the clear coat. It's kind of like epoxied in if I was to describe it.
This is not HTV it's considered marine vinyl like vinyl seats in a car not heat transfer. This one she is using is from mypunkbroidery.com and is simply called black glitter.
Some great information, thank you.
great fresh idea, thanks!
Great video!
Good job
Awesome thanks
Thank you so much.....

Are you removing the film on the top of the glitter vinyl before using it?
With punkbroidery vinyl you do not have to remove a film because there isn't any.
