I use windex inside the grip. Once it dries the grips will not come off. Ive never had a grip come anywhere near coming off. No glue, No safety wire, No clear coat...Just windex. Hate all you want but thats how i do it and it always worked for me.

    Hairspray works just as well.

I tried the clear enamel and the end of the grip disintegrated and fell off. Seemed like it melted through the grip. I used very little spray and was using Pro Taper grips. Fastest $20 I have spent in a while.

Hair spray works well too. Just not so awesome if you dunk the bike

Splash of gas into the grip works great never had good luck with paint if you don't replace your grips every 2 weeks wire just jacks em up

I also always tuck the end of the wire twist under the wire, after an errand twist end ruined my $40 fox gloves.

You know the most important thing he says that he didn't emphasize. Right before he pushes the grip onto the bar, he squashes it "to remove as much air as possible". Some bars aren't open through the center so when you push the grip on you end up with a ton of air trapped and it just pushes the grip back out. You'll never be able to push the grip on all the way unless you poke a hole in the end of the grip. Or maybe next time I'll try this method.

Just regriped my bars using grip cement recently which doesn't need safety wire to hold it on. I like the idea of being able to easily remove and replace grips, but my grips stay on for long periods of time which might allow rust to build up on the safety wire. Is there a benefit to using spray paint and safety wire other than it being easier to remove and replace grips?

are the safety wires necessary for an atv grip considering there is much less twisting the grip?

So use some clear coat spray paint to bond the grips to the bars? Also does it matter which side each grip goes on? or is there a grip for throttle and a grip for clutch side

    • @MRGOAT289

I tried the Pro-Taper clamp on grips and never could get the clutch side tight enough. Grip started to come off on first ride.

If you watch the whole video you would know that at the end he says the rider prefers the donuts to be glued to the grip, thats why he cut it.

Paint doesn't work for shit! Comes loose and spins on the first ride even with four rings of safety wire... Use medium cure CA-Glue or Renthal Grip glue.

    • @toadamine

You've never had a grip come off when you've went to pull a wheelie obviously... Spray paint comes loose on the first ride even with four rings of safety wire, I use medium cure CA glue and four rings of safety wire... That's the only thing I've found that keeps the grips from spinning or sliding.
