You said that you’re currently focusing on messaging use, which was also mentioned in your blog post. But in my opinion this is not really the case. As when you’re a member in some public groups, private chats (and private groups) always get buried on the home screen by all the public groups - and that’s really annoying (and the filters are too cumbersome, because you have to activate them every single time repeatedly). Usually (I don’t mean developers here), you just need to view public groups on certain occations, so I think it would be way better if they can be shifted to their own page. What I don’t understand: This actually was the case in the past, but got regressed by these new pill filters. So please bring the three pages back, which we had in the past (1:1 messages, optional priv. groups, and public groups)! I don’t mean to abandon the pill filters, they’re nice, but public rooms should really be separated - private rooms optionally, too.
Good job, I tried Element but it was a bit slow and had poor public group features. Is Element X better for porting and hosting communities? Will be there a way to import chats from other messangers?
Element X is more focused on messaging (think WhatsApp or Signal) than collaboration (think Discord or Slack) use cases for now. But the collaborating UX will increase in the coming months :) There's not an import function out of the box, although the underlying tech supports it for some bridges.
@element_io bridges got my interest last year, but I couldn't study and test enough your product to see how bots and bridges works and to make it my new community home. Perhaps can you send me a guide to how to bridge FB, LI, and TG and a list of available bots? Furthermore, will a TG group bot be able to moderate a Matrix group member interacting via bridge?
Unfortunately i can't login. well it's probably very fresh. because errors allover the place. even reporting something is causing error ... good luck. hopefully better product soon. I have a question - is the core of a project is in Germany ( German ) ? it would explain some things to me...
It sounds like the default server (matrix.org) is being blocked wherever you are trying to access it from. Russia looks to have been blocking it since Sept: explorer.ooni.org/domain/matrix-client.matrix.org?since=2024-08-25&until=2024-11-01&probe_cc=RU - and it looks like connectivity from Ukraine has become unreliable too in the same timeframe: explorer.ooni.org/domain/matrix-client.matrix.org?since=2024-08-25&until=2024-11-01&probe_cc=UA. You'll need to use a different server - e.g. dcomm.net.ua or a VPN of some kind.
Amazing work guys, loving Element X.. Thank you !!!
Hare Krishna..... Really admire a lot of your hardwork that you all are doing it's just great ❤❤❤
I'm enjoying using Element X, cool to see it officially launch!
Does Element X collect metadata? If so, what are the main culprits? Eg phone number…
…and, is Element X 100% E2E encrypted?
No backdoors?
Thanks!
