This version was erroneously ported in Plug-N-Play releases in 2017. They should have used the SNES version of the game from _Hello! Pac Man_ instead because it sounded accurate to the original.
This is the actual licensed version by Namco. The unlicensed port was released by Tengen in 1990. A what if scenario: What if Atari and Nintendo finalized their deal at CES 1983 to make Nintendo Advanced Video Game System instead of making the NES in 1985. If so, Japanese firm HAL Laboratory (creators of the NES ports of Joust, Millipede and Defender II/Stargate) would've make a better port of the game than that of Tengen and Namco's and it has beginner and expert modes, and it would've been shipped for late 1983. Had HAL's version being made rather than Tengen or Namco's, the title screen music would've been same as Joust, Millipede and Defender II/Stargate.
@@wizzgamer Only in Japan, as the Famicom. It wasn't the Famicom's release in Japan that stymied the deal. It was the following: Coleco's Adam computer showing off Donkey Kong (even though Atari had the rights to port it to PCs) The Atari 7800 (which was only delayed to '86 because of Atari's financial troubles leading its consumer division to be sold to Jack Tramiel who put the 7800 on hold for two years) Ray Kassar (who spearheaded the negotiations between Atari and Nintendo) was terminated. The video game crash of 1983 The only thing Atari got out of the deal was the rights to port Mario Bros. to their platforms.
Man, this must've been a really cheap game for Namco to make. It's pretty much just a hack of their Pac-Man game (note particularly the multiple bananas from 10:43 onward - the programmers just swapped the key sprite for a banana.) Also, is it just me or is the first fruit from the banana onward ALWAYS a banana (and only the second fruit randomized)?
1993? No wonder this version flew under the radar on the NES. The 16 bit consoles were at their peak at the time, so by then people must've played the SNES and Genesis versions.
I have this version on my bootleg psp that's a nes clone named "Slim Statin" and I gotta say I personally like this port of the game. And it runs fine on my bootleg psp.
Both Pac Man and Ms Pac Man Namco variants will run you quite a bit of money as both came out in 1993, during the NES dying days. Oddly enough I paid less for the Namco Ms Pac Man (a shade under $20, purchased locally, the store owner gave me a ton of great deals on more expensive NES games) versus what the Tengen version sells for on Ebay now (the Tengen one sells for over $20, has for years), and this purchase of the Namco one was made locally close to 15 years ago when the Namco variant was still around $100 on Ebay. In other words, it's been expensive quite a long time, but seems to have settled around that $100 mark.
Pax Humana. Yeah in 1993 Nintendo was pretty much pushing for Super Nintendo and trying to retire Original Nintendo by this point. Super Mario Brothers 3, Ms. Pac Man and Kirby's Adventures were some of the final Original Nintendo games.
Yep, and the same exact game was also one of the first Famicom games and the quality shows! Wrong maze colors, character sprites clipping through the mazes, slow speed, etc.. The Tengen port is much superior and has a ton of great extras as well.
well it technically was as the Famicom is the NES and vice versa just the NES was released under the Famicom name in Japan so they could have imported it same as the Sega Mega Drive/Genesis are the same console just go by another name in different regions.
My favorite version of Ms. Pac-Man, along with the Game Boy port. Certainly better than the overrated Tengen version, especially in the sound department, in my opinion.
@@KiwiTheRetroGal You’re mixing up two different versions. The Arcade version was based off of the original Crazy Otto game, which was converted into Ms. Pac-Man.
I got quite used to playing a speedy Ms. Pac-Man, never found a cabinet with a normal speed version till the cabinet released with Galaga (Ms. Pac-Man and Galaga Class of 1981), that also had Pac-Man hidden as a bonus, Pac-Man unlockable by a simple joystick cheat.
Twice I have made it to the same level after the stork scene and then the replay of the chase intermission scene which the arcade differs but replaying the stork intermission scene over and over instead. I hate how the mazes are totally wrong on this game. Puke green instead of red for the cherry level? Yuck! 😝
This actually got ported to a plug n play game in 2017
And the My Arcade Mini Cabinet game as well.
lol this game is available about everywhere
I can’t believe they chose this version

?..
Or the tengen Ms pac man for nes
Except it didn't, it just used the Pac-Man sounds with the exception of the music

It was too late in 1983 the NES was already finished and released that year.

💾 I have been waiting forever for this

Its so sastifying to watch I really want a ms Pacman plug and play
Have this game on regular ninendo and on 64 game never works for me as ahown???
How many levels are? pac man miss
I believe 32 for the Tengen, could be off by a little though. The Namco one may be 256 levels before a possible killscreen.
Good job finding this through UA-cam search engine

Independent Loner This game also has a Sega Master System port.
The evolutionized one for download off of the PSN is the best.

What Are You Talking About.
Joel Johnson That’s your opinion. Don’t try to pass it off as a fact.
The Arcade Hit From Namco Is Now On Your Nintendo Entertainment System! Ghost Monsters Can Run, But They Can't Hide From Ms. Pac-Man!
Did anyone noticed how off Blinky's start position is?
also Pinky and Inky just swapped spots.
19:31 LOSS ALL LIVES
This is for winning.
I'm having trouble finding the namco version for NES. Only see 1 listed on Ebay for $100!?!?

Wow, so it was one of the last NES games, right?

videogameobsession This game was never released for the Famicom. It was released exclusively in North America for the NES in 1993.
The last Nes Game it's "Wario Woods" from 1994
well it technically was as the Famicom is the NES and vice versa just the NES was released under the Famicom name in Japan so they could have imported it same as the Sega Mega Drive/Genesis are the same console just go by another name in different regions.
The tengen version of Ms. Pacman is better
np ms pac an is best and pac man
Your Right. Both Versions Are Good. Namco V.S Tengen.
That's a fact smack!
Only for the speed hack in it, the sounds are far worse than this version though.
super
0:11 3:10 7:29 13:27 19:05
This port is overhated.
Damn can't see xervious
The worst part is that it's claimed by a company that is a MUSIC STREAMING SERVICE.
Tengen version is much better
But the sounds are absolute ear rape, and going for high score is pointless since the game only has 32 levels in it before it ends.
the music sucks in this version also Some of the sound effects are not exactly right ... other than that great game
NINTENDO!! Release this on the Wii U Virtual Console before the NX comes out or your GROUNDED!!
Fat Chocobo oh wow you’re right! I forgot I even made this comment. I remember the days before the switch was revealed. 2016 was a great year for me
And also I still watch goanimate grounded videos
damn this comment is old old

Isn't the Tengen version the one built off of Crazy Otto?

The arcade version plays the stork scene over and over once you get to it and beyond. Namco's screw up here on this version.
“The chase” too much spice; too many wrong notes? PWG
I'm probably old school, but I can't understand why anyone plays these 'ports' instead of the original on MAME... I just don't get it.
The tengen version is screwed up bad
