You should carry envelope trackers instead. As you spend, deduct the amount or at least write down the amount/merchant and keep the receipt for later. That way you can keep track of what you are spending and how much is “left” to spend. When you get home, you can move the money from the corresponding category to a “to deposit” envelope so you can take it back to the bank to pay off the credit card! Using credit cards for everyday spending is a slippery slope for sure. I use them too for the cash back and travel rewards. However, I have to say that if you are not consistent with tracking, it can get out of hand quickly. I always make sure track what category every expense is coming from and I make sure to pay it off every couple of days or every 2 weeks in full, no matter what! I have one credit card for everyday expenses and one credit card for all my bills on auto pay. Good luck Mery! Love all your videos 💕
Thanks love! Sounds like a good idea cause I definitely see how fast things add up on the credit card. I feel fine now cause we have the cash but since its going to be ongoing i do need to haveca system to track the expenses on it. Thanks for the advice! 💗
I would love to see the rough drafts to final drafts of your budgeting papers. I'm starting out budgeting and your method of organizational structure is by far the simplest and easiest way for me to comprehend, while still being effective. But as it's my first time budgeting I'm not sure your exact thoughts on the way you break this down. How do you add your paycheck in? What makes you decide your starting day for the week, is that the day the paycheck comes in? Do you withdrawal all of your paycheck from the bank? What about bank fees regarding if you have under like.. 500 in your account at one time? Do you track all this before the payments occur? Or do you budget after the week is over with everything you've spent? Is your ending balance the actual balance you had left over or was that just the plan? For example, lets say my ending balance was 900 when I budgeted before spending, but then when I actually continued spending money my balance fell past 900. Also what about cash deposits. Do you deposit before your budget week? At the end or the beginning? Do you include a little side note about cash deposits? Or if you don't get tips/cash very often without withdrawing it yourself, what would you recommend for those who earn tips or receive cash otherwise. I'd love just a super in depth video for a beginner's beginner on your thought process for budgeting. I watched your video "Using a notebook as a budget tracker" but it still left me with many questions. And it seems you've updated your method slightly since. Even if the video is 30+ minutes I will watch it! I've watched the majority of your videos here already and I have the gist of it, but there's still a couple things I'm confused about.
