If my kid wants to explore other religions at this age with a genuine mindset to understand it and explore them, I’d be supportive too. Not be controlling like his mom is. I'm a grown man now and it still affects me in a way where I see it on a scripted show I never feel better until they get schooled. Only then do I exhale. In the best way for me to describe it, I have ADHD, so mom got me on medication when I was a kid. Spent my early childhood in rural East Texas just like Sheldon. This is a pretty accurate representation of the religious indoctrination that goes on there. IMHO, religion should not be foisted upon children until they reach the age of 16 when they can reason for themselves.
On the contrary, children should be solidly catechised before the age of 7 as after that their concupiscence starts to blur their discernment, and they can only make a properly informed decision later if their mind is properly enlightened by a solid education. Sadly nowadays proper catechism is lacking to most children, so they are never able to reason for themselves; for only in the Lord is man truly free, and the only way to raise a free-thinking child is giving them a solid doctrinal foundation; otherwise, the cavemen and savages, who had no tradition to fuel their reason, would never have been free.

What part, in context, did you take issue with where God was not clear on how to be saved from the issues, issues we cause ourselves and others(sin)? Scripture is filled with accounts of cause and effect. It's not based on our imperfect reasoning but Gods all knowing reasoning. The greatest consequence we choose is separation from him and all his goodness. Things like depression do not exist in the presence of God. Few know how to get into it, few even want to get into it. They fear God because they fear letting go of what they know causes harm. I have heard people say they didn't like a part of history in scripture, such as how God killed the first-born child in Egypt, first, that wasn't God who did that, it was the Egyptians that rejected God's plans in favor of their faith in their government. If you want to reject scripture as a history your going to. However I have never seen anything in history reject scripture even if it's written from a very Godless perspective, such as the Ipuwer from the Egyptians perspective or the Dead Sea scrolls that show the scripture of the Jews and Christians holds up completely once non-scriptural teachings are removed. God does not make anyone sin, when you sigh over evil in creation, so does God. Scripture simply says God knows and allows. Even when we pray, we are to first seek God's will of what to pray. Yes, there are consequences in the rejection of God for some and sometimes this can even be an answered prayer to others. Pharoh chose a hard heart 10, or more, times. Finally, God gave him what he wanted, such a hard heart that nothing could penetrate it so others could have what they cried out for and be free. Sorry, this got long. I have also been up all night. I really hope you did take the time to read what I wrote, but my point is- I don't think the issue is children knowing scriptures about an only good God that is both merciful and just. Most of the time when people take issue with God, it's not God or even scripture, but added teachings that are not in scripture but repeated by religion. It also tends to be that most children are exposed to non-stop religion outside of scripture from paid influencers to only getting to hear some scientists and what they are allowed to say. Most people would do themselves well to study and do what scripture says. Our family works in what you would respect, and we also believe in God, the Holy Spirit, and Jesus that was, and is, and is to come. Jesus was the promise to the whole world, not just the Christians, he was the "Word" rejected. This is so true. See John and scripture references in John. Science is simply seeking Truth. First seeking with questions, repeated tests, humble observation to try to know and write a law on what the truth is. Faith in God is the same. First seeking with questions prayer and repeated scripture study, and humble observation to know and proclaim who God is and how you got to observe the truth of him. God is real, I know the Lord, he speaks when we humble to listen.

I used to have strong faith and live unhappily but now, I don't follow any religion anymore. I feel less burden in doing so. Not because I don't believe that there is a possibility of a higher being exist (I'm more agnostic than atheist) but I'd rather live a full, meaningful life at my own will and without having people to tell me how to. As humans, we are born with empathy and we can attain wisdom, thus we should act on that. I don't need the idea of heaven and hell to encourage me to do what's right because it's simply choose what you think will not harm others and yourself. We all live and die anyways. Whatever religion we follow, it won't change much. Place me in hell for not following your religion? alright as long as i live freely and happy in this world. It's an uncertain opportunity for me to waste on believing something I'm not even sure of. I do know some people need religion because that's what they're holding onto tho and I respect that. Spent my early childhood in rural East Texas just like Sheldon. This is a pretty accurate representation of the religious indoctrination that goes on there. IMHO, religion should not be foisted upon children until they reach the age of 16 when they can reason for themselves.
On the contrary, children should be solidly catechised before the age of 7 as after that their concupiscence starts to blur their discernment, and they can only make a properly informed decision later if their mind is properly enlightened by a solid education. Sadly nowadays proper catechism is lacking to most children, so they are never able to reason for themselves; for only in the Lord is man truly free, and the only way to raise a free-thinking child is giving them a solid doctrinal foundation; otherwise, the cavemen and savages, who had no tradition to fuel their reason, would never have been free.

Children know God, you have to get them to reject him by false teachings pushed. God is not a religion or building but right instead of wrong. Truth instead of lies. Reality over of our desires to create fantasy. The whole point of God is his ways are higher than our ways. No one can't create him, he created truth and goodness and didn't even create evil, evil is only created in the rejection of him and his ways, evil is our desire to be our own god. How many times did you, yes, in faith, open to insight as you read through your scriptures? What part, in context, did you take issue with where God was not clear on how to be saved from the issues, issues we cause ourselves and others(sin)?
Scripture is filled with accounts of cause and effect. It's not based on our imperfect reasoning but Gods all knowing reasoning. The greatest consequence we choose is separation from him and all his goodness. Things like depression do not exist in the presence of God. Few know how to get into it, few even want to get into it. They fear God because they fear letting go of what they know causes harm.
I have heard people say they didn't like a part of history in scripture, such as how God killed the first-born child in Egypt, first, that wasn't God who did that, it was the Egyptians that rejected God's plans in favor of their faith in their government. If you want to reject scripture as a history your going to. However I have never seen anything in history reject scripture even if it's written from a very Godless perspective, such as the Ipuwer from the Egyptians perspective or the Dead Sea scrolls that show the scripture of the Jews and Christians holds up completely once non-scriptural teachings are removed.
God does not make anyone sin, when you sigh over evil in creation, so does God. Scripture simply says God knows and allows. Even when we pray, we are to first seek God's will of what to pray. Yes, there are consequences in the rejection of God for some and sometimes this can even be an answered prayer to others. Pharoh chose a hard heart 10, or more, times. Finally, God gave him what he wanted, such a hard heart that nothing could penetrate it so others could have what they cried out for and be free.
Sorry, this got long. I have also been up all night. I really hope you did take the time to read what I wrote, but my point is-
I don't think the issue is children knowing scriptures about an only good God that is both merciful and just. Most of the time when people take issue with God, it's not God or even scripture, but added teachings that are not in scripture but repeated by religion. It also tends to be that most children are exposed to non-stop religion outside of scripture from paid influencers to only getting to hear some scientists and what they are allowed to say.
Most people would do themselves well to study and do what scripture says. Our family works in what you would respect, and we also believe in God, the Holy Spirit, and Jesus that was, and is, and is to come. Jesus was the promise to the whole world, not just the Christians, he was the "Word" rejected. This is so true. See John and scripture references in John.
Science is simply seeking Truth. First seeking with questions, repeated tests, humble observation to try to know and write a law on what the truth is. Faith in God is the same. First seeking with questions prayer and repeated scripture study, and humble observation to know and proclaim who God is and how you got to observe the truth of him. God is real, I know the Lord, he speaks when we humble to listen.

I used to have strong faith and live unhappily but now, I don't follow any religion anymore. I feel less burden in doing so. Not because I don't believe that there is a possibility of a higher being exist (I'm more agnostic than atheist) but I'd rather live a full, meaningful life at my own will and without having people to tell me how to.
As humans, we are born with empathy and we can attain wisdom, thus we should act on that. I don't need the idea of heaven and hell to encourage me to do what's right because it's simply choose what you think will not harm others and yourself. We all live and die anyways. Whatever religion we follow, it won't change much. Place me in hell for not following your religion? alright as long as i live freely and happy in this world. It's an uncertain opportunity for me to waste on believing something I'm not even sure of.
I do know some people need religion because that's what they're holding onto tho and I respect that. Hopefully they don't force it upon others to follow.
