I bounced for 10 years in some very rough cowboy bars. The first move with the wrist lock I have used successfully dozens of times and it has never failed me once, not once. I always get a kick out of guys who say this won't work or that won't work. It worked for me every time I needed it. In context, there were times where a shoulder lock was the right go to move. The wrong technique for the circumstance will fail but that isn't a flaw in the move, its the fault of the bouncer not knowing his craft.
Still has a free hand and feet. If a knife comes out or something else and your hands are tied up, well be aware that you may not like the outcome.
