What disappoints me is that shrines is pretty much just “get sanctum of all, then win with rage and fangs” It would be cool with a (dare I say) “regular” deck that isn’t all about shrines, but utilize them for their constant passive value? Like, Jeskai shrines or sultai shrines could be cool.
Managed to make a sultai mill deck in historic, psychic corrosion for milling, blue shrines for drawing, green for blocking and ramp, black for disruption and sustain not a full shrine deck but fun nonetheless :D could be possible in standard with the new teferi enchantment but a lot of oompf is lost with 3 shrines (honden) not being in the deck
needs a counterspell for those novas and ugins *edit* i have been using veto cuz it hits the cards that i worry the most about and its cheap and it works vs control decks

It's partly to work better with Sanctum of All, and partly so the green one can make mana in your main phase. If it made it on upkeep, you'd lose it right away unless they added a complicated rider. I believe this is also part of why they made Sagas trigger on main phase as well.

I would just like to say that we have successfully forced OPs to start running Return to Nature in their Bo1 decks because of Shrines. Achievement unlocked! Don't worry, we'll keep adapting it!
@@LegenVD I think what he means is that he believes you only showed matches that made this deck look good. Some creators do this. What his larger point is, I think, is that while this deck is a pretty good combo deck, you seemed to have the most trouble with aggro decks. Since you don't have any board wipes in this deck, it's just one cleansing nova or embercleave from being beat. It's quite focused but also vulnerable in a lot of ways that would probably be exposed if you played it in ranked. Maybe.

Depends if you want to keep some backups in hand in case they deal with the Sanctums in play. Also for Shattered Heights it's better to keep Lands and Shrines in hand.

I'm a little disappointed you saw the Sylvan Awakening coming, ngl. Also people usually concede before I put more lands on the battlefield with Risen Reef/leafkin to animate with SA. Although I could have just played another Tamiyo and return Rallying roar back to my hand to +1/+1 again. Thassa's oracle from the graveyard, Jace from the sideboard, repeated Inspired ultimatums and a vitu-ghazi with an embercleave send their regards as well. Thanks for the game! The shrine deck looks really neat.
Fortunately your Shrine Deck has an advantage to FotD! If I had these matchups all day long I definitely would have made a long arena break... :-D But thanks for your great gameplay!

by the time you put your first shrine. your opponent already has lethal on the next turn. at least thats what happened to me the first 10 matches i played
9:44 if you discarded the red sanctum to sanctum of calm waters, you could've reanimated it along with searching your library for another shrine, because sanctum of all mentions "and/or" which means you can do both or either I don't know if you just didn't know that interaction, but no hate towards you and thank you for your mtg content

So we wont know if you can get 2 shrines or just 1 from their respective zones. Wouldn't playing Idyllic Tutor to search for Sanctum of All make sense? I mean, you probably could cut on some of the shrines such as historic blue Shrine that is dangerous to play and a few others in favour of increasing the odds to play Sanctum of All as early as possible. Or maybe it's just too slow.
That's how I built the deck originally but found it too slow. Adding more Blue Sanctums helped with drawing Sanctum of All while still adding an extra Shrine to the board.

I run a standard m21 shrine deck and I abuse TF out of the ultimatums. It does pretty good against anything midrange. Aggro is an issue sometimes

No, it says "you may search your library and/or graveyard for A Shrine card." You can search both, but only choose and put one onto the battlefield

using the various command, you get an overview by hovering over the search bar.
Wonder if Mox Amber could be good in this deck as acceleration, assuming you get a shrine down first.
Mox only works with creatures or Planeswalkers sadly.
