Hello, Alicia. You buy quality vegetables, fruits and herbs, then use these ingredients to cook healthy meals for the twins. You are a great mother and cook...👍❤😇💐
Cilantro like parsley can be placed in a glass of water and left on the counter it will fully come back. Broccoli stems can be cooked and eaten just like the broccoli they have even more nutrition. It can also be cooked down with other veggies to a sauce and added to any food (to sneak in veggies) but your beautiful girls eat very well. You have a gift for introducing them to new foods. You are a great mom and your girls are lucky to have you.
Wow Alicia. Your such a great chef. I can’t wait to see what you come up with. I’m so not good in the Kitchen🥹🥹I enjoyed this video. Keep up the good work. 💗
An old way of keeping berries fresh is keeping them in glass jars. I've found mason jars to be perfect. Works great for any berry. Don't put the lid on too tight , refrigerate and they keep for at least 2weeks. Wash before using.
Hi sweet Alicia. You can and I do this to keep on hand for soups stuffing. Clean and dry celery dice and freeze in a freezer bag. And when you need it just use what you need. It stays fresh. Just a suggestion. Love watching all you videos. Thank you for them. May God continue to bless you, your hubby and absolutely beautiful girls ❤️ and hugs to you all.
Imperfect Market and Misfits Market, you can select just the items you want. If you only want blueberries and bananas you can order just that. Happy Shopping 🍌🍌🍌🍌. 🍇🍇🍇
Alicia, You have probably used them by now, but I learned of a use for lemons that most people do not know. Cut the lemon in half lengthwise so as to get the most exposure, and then the next time you or Walt take a shower, rub the lemon over your shower walls and fixtures. Rinse off, and you will be amazed at how the lemon juice dissolves the accumulated soap scum and minerals from your water. You're welcome!! Hugs to the girls.
hello Alicia, every time I eat strawberries and blueberries I will think of your girls. They always bring back great eating memories. Thank you for posting.
When you're handed a bag of lemons, make lemonade. 😊 or slice up lemons , limes and oranges with rind on and put in freezer bags. Then I add them to my drinking water for flavor and vitamins. Plus they keep the water cold.
Wash the outside of the lemons, quarter or slice and freeze them in baggies for later use. Place frozen slices in your water or iced tea. My favorite part of broccoli is the stalk. I peel the outside fiber and slice the inside as a perfect snack. So yummy. Costco has perfect containers for fresh fruit and vegetables. A box of different sizes that have vented sides and slotted bottoms with trays. The lids tell you what vegetables need water in the tray or need to either have the vent open or closed. I had some bell peppers that lasted a whole month. Berries last so much longer as well as lettuces, green onions/radishes, grapes, etc. I cannot remember the names of the containers but you may want to check this option out. It is also so nice to have the option to stack them in my fridge. I do not wash the berries before storing as this makes them go bad faster. Hope this helps❤
Freeze the stocks of broccoli/celery and use later as part of a soup stock. I use lemon and/or lime slices in my glass of water; it’s my treat….. Love some fresh squeezed lemon on my green beans and of course, caesar salad. Keep a ripe avocado in a mason jar filled with water; keeps it good for another few (it never fails that they all ripen at the same time)😊 Try some lemon pasta too! There are many versions, most are simple, some are healthier than others but you can add parmigiana to it for the “ little cheese loving girls”!😉😋
If you make a vinegar & water wash…4 cups water to 1/2 cup vinegar. Let your strawberries, blueberries and raspberries float for a few minutes…rinse them & then let them air dry (I always cut the tops off the strawberries after they have air dried), store them in glass jars with tight lids they will last for 3 weeks & sometimes longer. Banana’s last longer if you break them apart & have them hanging.
You can make lemonade or lemon popsicles. Wash your brussel sprouts and cut them-in Half and put in a bowl, drizzle with olive oil and any seasonings you like. Mix well and put cut side down on a cookie sheet and roast at 375 approximately 10 minutes until bottom is turning brown. Turn them over and roast another8 minutes and they should be soft and ready to eat. We love them like that. I usually put a little dried thyme and Dried parsley at the onset in the bowl.
For the lemons you can cut them up then freeze them in freezer snack bags to use them as needed. For Brussel sprouts you slice then up smaller and roast. Serve with meat and potato. Nice meal. Enjoy
That is so nice of your husband to order that, even if the order was accidently. . Saves time and some gas money not having to take a trip to the grocery store. Asome, lots of healthy foods in the box. Steamed or boil brussel sprouts with a chedder cheese or mozzerella cheese sauce taste yummy. Also love to eat cream cheese with raw celery sticks. I know the girls can't have that yet, someday they might like the celery and cream cheese? If you love it then ... everything is so much better with cheddar. 😆 Last night i made a slow cook stew with fried hamburger meat and in it was celery, carrots, onion, peas and potaoes. Quick and easy to make meal. 😊
Brussel sprouts can be good if properly cooked. Try halving them from top to bottom and par boiling in salted water with 1/2 T sugar. Dry thoroughly Cook some bacon and chop it. Saute some onion. Place the sprouts (cut size down) in pan and brown. Toss with the bacon, and top with grated Parmesan cheese. Isn't bitter and is tasty!
I don’t like Brussels sprouts either. And you’re great in that you’ll still try to find a good way to make them for the girls. I’m pretty sure I wouldn’t even try 🤷🏽♀️.
Alicia, you can chop the celery and freeze in ziplock bags and use as needed in soups and casseroles. I do this with a lot of fresh vegetables. The veggies do not change in my opinion. Till next time hugs Betty 🥰🥰🥰💗🙏💗💕😘hug the sweet girls for mr.
The broccoli stalks can be made into soup and frozen, same with the celery, the lemons can be used in a lemon and blueberry pound cake. I have hot lemon every morning in water, very good to cleanse the liver
Chop up the celery, along with some onions, and freeze them for a future additive to soups, stews, etc. Lemon and blueberry loaf bread or cake? Lime or lemon sorbet? I'm not a fan of cilantro so I don't have a suggestion for that. Parsley for pesto sauce. Broccoli stems cooked to add to soups or even just with the regular florets is yummy!
i used to hate brussels sprouts, one day my roomate showed me how she makes them (sauté them with salt balsamic vinegar and honey or maple syrup) after that i fell in love with
I have an excellent proven way to keep most herbs, I'm serious, for months in the fridge. Sadly it doesn't work with basil and a few other soft leafy ones, they turn black, still ok, but not very appetizing.. I mix those with olive oil and freeze. I find myself not always using a whole bunch of herbs that you get from the store. Summer I can just pick outside. Take your cilantro, parsley, oregano, etc... and get rid of any that is going bad then wash it. Lay it on paper towels to dry. You have to make sure none of it is going bad at all, it'll take the rest of it down. It has to be very very dry. When you think it's dry and before it gets limp, wrap in a paper towel and put it in a glass jar with a lid. You can really stuff it in there, too. You have to keep checking and change out a damp towel. The next day, check again to see if still damp, look for wilted leaves, new paper towel and back in a dry jar. I had cilantro last me for 2 months. I am going on 3 weeks with a giant bunch of parsley. Still tastes fine! I love fresh herbs so I don't mind the trouble. I hate paying for a whole bunch and composting the rest.
I did not have a successful experience with the Misfits Market. Delivery was a problem. It was always late and the ice packs were melty and there was a lot of water and since nothing is wrapped the greens like parsley and cilantro were a mess as well as the other produce. What I do with extra lemons and limes is that I juice them and freeze them in ice cube trays. Also I have frozen Brussels sprouts, then blanched them and then roasted them. I’ve frozen cut up celery and used it as needed for soup broth. Good luck ❤
You could juice the lemons & freeze them in ice trays then transfer to zip lock baggies. The Misfit order actually looks very nice, nothing bad about it. I don't care for Brussel Sprouts either, my family likes them so I cook them. I put olive oil & seasons & roast them.
Yes, lemon meringue pie, lemon pound cake, lemon curd, key lime pie, lime cilantro rice. You can freeze the juiced lemons and limes in ice cube trays, pop out and put in freezer bags to pop in sauces, for lemonade/limeade, salad dressings. Guess, you can even freeze the zest for cooking/baking. Agree with you about freezing fresh anything. Unless pureed in something, not the same. Still fun to see what that company has to offer. 😊❤
Well those green onions look pretty good. The broccoli looks good. I have not learned to cook Brussels. Also, I ate at a restaurant and had broccoli with light lemon on them. They were good. Wow I have not heard about Misfit box. I wonder if we can get it in Texas. Actually, those fruits and vegies look just as good as some of the produce in our stores.
I freeze lemons and thaw one at a time to make a hot lemon and honey drink to start the day. Very refreshing and detoxifying! I chop up celery and freeze to throw in soups. There's a hack on UA-cam thst I haven't tried. I think its to wrap it in tin foil and it will last longer too. You might want to google that. 😊 I got a recipe for blueberry lemon pudding that girls might like. Very quick and easy to make. I will send later. Also you can make homemade lemonade with fresh ir frozen lemons that is quite refreshing 😊
Did the $22 for the box, include shipping? Thanks for sharing this video. I hope you found some good uses for the foods in there and it all turned out to Be a good deal.
I prepare fresh juice from fresh celery ,carrot ,beet root, and apple with a juicer machine. Or other combinations. Adults can eat fresh celery stalk in salad or with cheese, humus ,tehina, or all kinds of sauce . It can be eaten with a little salt/ Himalaya pink salt .
Well at least the food looks pretty fresh. I’m with you, Alicia, I don’t care for avocados either. BUT, I do like them in a dip without the hot peppers. And, with the lemons and limes, you could juice them and freeze the juice in ice cube trays and after frozen put them into freezer bags and use them as needed. You could also make some lemon blueberry muffins and you can make the muffins with frozen blueberries. And yes, the celery is good for soups and stews, and it’s also good cut up small in chicken salad or egg salad for sandwiches. 💕
We live in a remote area and the food store is 30 minutes away which is why they don't deliver😅 if we were closer to a city they would have delivery I'm sure!🩷🩷
Not a bad haul from the misfits box. My mom would take celery and stuff it with peanut butter. But my mom would take the peanut butter and mix white sugar in it. Sweeten to taste. I’ll eat celery plain or with the peanut butter white sugar mix.

Hi Alicia, you can freeze lemons and limes, just note that when you defrost them they are a bit squidgy so only really good for their juice.
