Thanks for the video. Sounds like you were transferring non-shengen to non-shengen, since your prior departure country and destination country are both non-EU? In this case (as it appears in your video) you did not have to pass through customs or passport control, yeah? I plan to transit AMS non-shengen to non-shengen also and from what I understand, you just stay in the international (non-shengen) transit area, so no hassle with Shengen visas, etc.

I arrived from Turkey and was flying to UK. I did have to pass through passport control

I would think you'd have to pass through passport control. As for rechecking your luggage, you'd have to ask your airline about that
