  • Here is a look at the FretGuru Dagger 2.0 in action. A really sweet fret crowning file. I highly recommend this tool.

    just did my first fret job with this! the sharpie trick made it a breeze, and the #0000 steel wool was a lot easier than trying to work out multiple grits; thanks for sharing!

    Nice video. Direct to the point delivery & informative.
    I just bought the dagger 2.0, might invest in the leveling beam too. Thanks.

      Thank you Dave! It is a really nice fret crowning file, and a great investment. I've used it on a bunch of guitars already. Cool man. Good luck on your future guitar projects/builds, Rock on

      Right on man. It is a very nice file. I've used mine many times. Just take your time with it. I practiced on my less expensive guitars first, until I got comfortable with it. Cheers

    Great design, but after owning one for a year now, I have to say that it's really best for medium fret sizes and up. Anything smaller, especially vintage style frets will not be crowned properly with it. Too much material is removed from the point where the crown begins on either side because the width of the file. But for larger frets, it's a really simple tool to use. I have been using it more on the edges of frets to round them over near the bevel and then using the stewmac Z file for actual crowning.

      Cool. Yeah I use mine on the edge of the frets as well. A great tool. I don't own any guitars with small frets, so I have never had any issues. Stewmac is nice too. I own some of their tools. Expensive but good stuff. Thanks

    Hoping it works good on the upper frets of neck throughs and set necks. Anyone know?

      A bit awkward, but Yes it works. You have to be careful so you don't scratch the body. I picked up a Stew Mac compact, diamond, Z-File as well. Its smaller and more maneuverable on the higher frets. With both files I can crown just about anything. Good luck bro. Don't forget to subscribe, Thanks. Rock on!

      @@BrunoFreitasMusic awesome, thanks for the reply. I did order the compact z files. They look like that's the answer for me. Thanks again.

    How do you clean the dagger 2.0 when done?

    • @BrunoFreitasMusic
      @BrunoFreitasMusic  Рік тому +1

      Hey Cappy, I wipe it down with alcohol if its dirty, and I use I use a small brush to clean the "teeth"(Cutting surface) of the file. A medium or hard bristled toothbrush works great! Thanks for the comment. Subscribe!

    Why are you going straight down I expected you to crown them at this point. Where co fused is why did you level them with the ba then basically do the same thing with the file

    • @BrunoFreitasMusic
      @BrunoFreitasMusic  2 роки тому

      This file is designed with a concave cutting edge. It crowns the frets easily with a simple stroke. This file does not level the frets. For leveling frets, you will need a different set of tools. (notched straight edge for your guitars scale length, a fret leveling beam, etc.)
      Level your frets first, then use the tool in the video to re-crown them.
