You can travel up North to Chiang Saen and visit the Golden Triangle. Till these days, people still living in the same old way.

nice bus. Great to see you on the road and going north. Actually another great area to rent a scooter and explore. Just get a slightly larger one this time. And also helmets dont make the best water containers LOL Just pick up a couple bottles at 7/11

You are so funny ! I thought IT is head and tail, okay head and but it is. Normally they mush the fish, eggwhite with flour. And if its fancy they mush the fish with prawn tot get the bouncy consistency. But I guess in your case fish and flour to give the appearance of a thick piece of fish and not able to flake apart as with in fresh fish.

I went to Chiang Rai and stayed in the same hotel as you. Small room but worth it.
Recommended attractions in Chiang Rai

- Singha Park
- Wat Huai Pla Kang
- Wat Rong Suea Ten

- Doi Tung
Many food stalls are located near the clock tower.
The clock tower will have a light and sound show at night. Every night, there are 3 rounds, approximately 10 minutes each, starting at 7pm, 8pm and 9pm.

The deep fried small fish you had called "capelin", delicious when grill and eat with lemon squeeze. They are so unique (nothing stuff 😅) Really enjoyed your vdo.😍🙌🏼

Crispy fried fish is small ones and typically not stuff any things inside. You just ate head of fish which is bitter and most Thais avoid it. Good review and your smile looks like thai smile so naturally and genuine.

The deep fried fish is called 'fried shishamo' or 'pla-khai-tod' in Thai. The Shishamo is a Japanese delicacy and is grilled or fried whole and served with its roe intact. Have fun in Chiang Rai. Cheers.

It was such a ridiculous mistake that we couldn't even be embarrassed about it 😂🤣 The public transportation is many of the places we've been has really opened our eyes to just how neglected America's is, sadly.

I think the crispy fish that you ask is nartually filled with its eggs! In japanese is Shishamo or Capelin in English. I, personally, don't like it much because it's too fatty for me.

(It`s so cold and dark here in Norway right now :/ ) I have been to Koh Tao several times, Koh Pangan and Bangkok! Have to go back very soon. I really would like to explore the north more. I've eaten at that same place in the square near the bus station in Chiang Rai several times. It is very good one day and not so good the next. If you are going to be in CR for any length of time I recommend staying south end of town near the old airport (sanambin gow) in a hotel called Pimann Inn. I am from Texas but lived in Thailand for about 20 yrs. Hope you had a great time!

If I’m not mistaken, Mae Sai is about an hour north of Chiang Rai city. Chiang Rai is also a province though isn’t it? Is that what you meant? 😅
Mae Sai is a small border crossing town about 1.5 hours north of CR at the border with Myanmar. It is in the Chiang Rai Provence, however, and is a nice place to visit. They have a great market and you can cross the border and shop in Myanmar too (barring any covid restrictions). It also has a large Tops Supermarket. You can always stop and get some fresh picked strawberries and strawberry wine on your way in or out of town.

While you’re in Chiengrai, I would suggest you rent a moped and go a bit outside the city to see some attraction, such as;
White temple
Singha Park
Doi Chang Hill coffee plantation (great coffee with great view but uphill ride)
Doi Tung palace
Blue Temple (downtown area)
There are a lot of chic coffee places in downtown by the river. I would recommend Manorom Coffee.
