a real shame there's not the John Reid interview here when he won this Derby, can't believe this race is over a quarter of a century ago already, I was only 15 now 43 WTF!!!
Remember him winning the Dewhurst(think it was), in red colours with yellow star, Italian owner I think. Racing Post said he'd looked hard trained to win his previous race and may be over the top. Nearly put me off him, but stuck with him and he toughed it out under a never say die ride for Carson.
First ever anti post bet was on Dr.Dev J.Reid......just started my 1st vacay job...and won!.......was that a good or bad thing...lol....I love English horses..
Not saying I disagree with it, but if they scratched a horse just for not loading after 60 seconds here in America in the KY Derby you would never hear the end of here.
it was pathetic, considering he'll never get another chance again to run in a Derby because stupidity still it's only just for 3 year olds, I don't know why there can't be another version for 4 year olds and upwards, don't seem to have a problem having a 1000 and 2000 guineas races but going back to American racing, why is it I hardly ever see a problem with the horses going in the stalls unlike many times in English racing?
st. jovite was being ridden the whole way, really had no business finishing second.went on to prove what a good horse he was.
and Silver Wisp what a wonderful horse too

Peter Chapple Hyam, trainer of the 1992 Derby winner also trained Authorized to win this Epsom classic fifteen years later

Hard to say Rodrigo didn't stay, he was closer at the line than he was 3f out.
