This night must have been magic! WHAT AN AUDIENCE!!! You can absolutely feel it in this video......it's one of those shows where the audience must have walked out thinking: oh my gawd, I can't believe how good that just was.
It is a great track and one for the ages. Incredible really as Clark's Lyrics don't make sense, just as they didn't on the songs he wrote with Depeche Mode. He made his music in the studio and shoe horned lyrics in. To think one of these songs endured like this has given this fact is quite amazing. My four year old daughter loved it on first listen too
When Alison sings i literally melt! I mean...that voice??!! OMG! Wow!! And coupled with Vince Clarke's tunes and talent...what a duo! I'm so glad i got to grow up as a teenager in the early '80s.
My absolute favorite song in the whole world. Freshman year in college, I had a tape (lol) of just this song repeating over and over. Sweet memories of youth...
I am genuinely amazed by this video. This is the kind of once-in-a-lifetime performances which only a few people get to experience - by being there when it happens. This video is the kind that lets hundreds of thousands of people experience a part of that magic - not all of it but enough to feel the emotions of the crowd and Vince+Alison. Thank you for uploading it!
I remember that feeling the first time I heard The Angelic Upstarts sing 'Police Oppression ', Digbeth Civic Hall...all those many moons ago. Just saying, like.
Then you must go see Bruce Springsteen. Here in Sweden the crowd sing every word of every song through the entire consert. 3,5-4,5 hours of 70.000 people singing along. Magical!
I have loved this song since the first time I heard it... I even made a strong push to have it as our high school senior prom theme but it lost out to This is the Time by Billy Joel. Blah. Anyway. Love this song and the crowd is so electric! Wish I had been there.
Absolutely Magical. Yazoo was a Phenomenon. Had they stayed together and learned to communicate with each other in the early 80's, I fully believe they would have been even bigger than Depeshe Mode. Vince Clark is a master musician and amazing song writer, and Alisons voice is one of a kind. Not only is her voice bluesy but it's also got depth, soul and tone. It was the right move for Vince Clark to leave Depeshe Mode, had he not we never would have heard the magic of Yazoo. If I recall correctly, Vince Clarke offered Depeshe Mode this song when he was leaving them and they rejected it.
Great performance and two legends here. But I don't think Depeche Mode miss Vince in the slightest considering what they achieved without him and remember Speak and Spell was the only album he wrote on for DM and that was 1981 . DM went onto far bigger things..... Alan wilder was a bigger loss in my opinion as Vince although a pop genius tends to write more Pop songs where as DM are a darker band with Martin writing. Unfortunately I missed the yazoo gig as I was away but was brilliant by all accounts.
+Rocky Ah yeah I know how big Depeshe Mode became. And I too doubt they miss Vince any as Vince has said himself, he knew DM would be okay without him because he knew Martin Gore was a very strong writer. DM did a lot I liked after Vince left, But I always kept up with Vince as well.
+DoubleVisionandco I'd love Vince to rejoin the band and infact he made a comment to Martin about that. It's not clear if it was a joke or for real but Martin laughed it off. He would bring a lot more to DM than Peter Gordeno does as a Live performer or session musician but at this stage it won't happen . I think Dave has too much going on with Soulsavers outside of DM to look back . Not s bad thing as that why DM has progressed over the years
Oh Pleeease pleeese come back come back....How About Vince...Alison and Andy Bell doing Only You..Da Da da Da Da Da da da All I needed was the love you gave all I needed for another day...And all I ever knew (come on guys! finish it)
She does. Says it in the Yazoo documentary which you can watch on You Tube. She says she was just unable to communicate with him back then. They were only 20 years old! Vince was a quiet chap 😅😅
This song was lightning in a bottle. It's the single best song of the 1980's in my opinion.
Yep. When I try to explain the '80s to someone younger, I tell them to listen to "Only You", "Secret" by OMD, and ""Guilty" by Classix Nuveaux.
By far
One of my favs, but I'd put it up against "Somebody" by DM.
💯
Top 10 possibly...but not the best..😉
You know you have an anthem when you accompany the audience. Nice to see Vince smile at the start - a rare occurrence.
Goosebumps 😊
I was 14 in 1982. To go through the 80s in your teens was fucking awesome. Best music.
Spot on! 👍👍 Imagine growing up today! 🙈🙈🙈🙈🙈
I was 16....58 now and nothing beats 81-88 ❤️

Indeed it was incredible.... saw them in NYC in 2008, it was a magical night, once in a lifetime.
Only in Ireland is an audience so in love with a song that they can't help but absorb the singer's voice into their chorale.
I had the honour of being at this concert in june 2008. brilliant night at the olympia.
I'm sitting here trying to figure out why I think this is the best song of all time.
I can't explain it.
It's right up there, for sure.
Neither can I, but it is.
One of the best, certainly. The best ? That is getting a little carried away ...

The best audience a musician could ever ask for.
If you could only ever write one song 😍😍
When Alison sings i literally melt! I mean...that voice??!! OMG! Wow!! And coupled with Vince Clarke's tunes and talent...what a duo! I'm so glad i got to grow up as a teenager in the early '80s.
Fantastično, pesma svih vremena❤
My absolute favorite song in the whole world. Freshman year in college, I had a tape (lol) of just this song repeating over and over. Sweet memories of youth...
How happy does she look singing that !! Class ;)
imagine having a crowd sing along to your song like they did.......yup that would make anyone smile.....I love this woman.....such talent.
Haven't been on UA-cam in over a year, and just spent several minutes hunting for this particular video. The positive energy here is thrilling.
Absolutely amazing performance, everyone singing... 🥰.
It was a smash hit in 1982/3, my school days...
This video should be promoted more.
20 years later and they still rock!
What an epic crowd!
Absoluteely! The Irish are the Best!

Love, love, love Alison Moyet... My favorite female vocalist!!!
Here in 2020, and i sang along with it just like the crowd did
This is the first live show I've seen where the audience gleefully sings along for the WHOLE song !
Then you must go see Bruce Springsteen. Here in Sweden the crowd sing every word of every song through the entire consert. 3,5-4,5 hours of 70.000 people singing along. Magical!
Even the instrumental bits, every note! 😳😍
I love the song. I love the crowd, I love you Alison Moyet!
She's aged incredibly well! Looks like Adele's slightly older sister, even though she's old enough to be her mother!
Adele’s more talented sister
QUEM É ADELE ???
She is better then Adele
That was tearjurking!
This is absolutely beautiful and makes me cry!!!!!Cheers ireland :)

Yet he left Yazoo to join Andy Bell to create Erasure AND that was truely mean to be! Vince and Andy are pure magic I have seen them 5 times live!
