totally agree with you. had something similar to that happen in school. (I got accused of ditching). cuz I was talking to some friends, i was near their car, and the back door was open and I was near the door
Yeah I always preferred Stephanie, followed by DJ. Michelle was cute for funny one liners but whole storyline’s devoted to her were always babyish and she came across really bratty and annoying.
Just a little note you forgot: - Populi's death - Dad talks - fighting with siblings - moving out - Hospital visits (the last episode) - insulting Kimmy Gibbler or Gia - trying to Please your Mom
Shows like this and Boy meets world are just so amazing. They are funny and talk about serious issues without viewing them in a biased or overdramatic way and I wish they still made shows like this
The domestic violence episode with the girls and the bruise deeply affected me given my childhood. I'll never forget it. No one ever asked my mother if she was okay.
1. How about the guilt what Stephanie had when she cut Jesse's hair, than she broke his arms and she refused to help or go near him because she is scared about making in worse. She also hurt his arms when they were broken and she felt sad. 2. Stephanie being ignored by her family because she is the middle child. 3. Kimmy feeling hurt from getting bullied from the family and cried in a storage room with Jessie because he made fun of her outfit.
Well Stephanie didn't actually break Jesse's arms. He was upset, got on is Harley and crashed. It was his own fault. Yea Steph cut his hair (by mistake) but he was the one who caused his own accident.
Also when Steph was carrying so much guilt for accidentally driving Joey's car through the kitchen and told her dad that the family would be better off without her 😢😢
Stephanie’s classmate Charles being the victim of abuse is something that is all too real in life. Glad Full House addressed it delicately to the point on how can a kid comprehend such?
I appreciate how when DJ was upset about her body Danny did not lie to her about how she looked or even focused on her looks. he didn't say 'you look great' or anything, he focused on what matters, her character. too many girls are told they're 'beautiful as they are' but everyone ignores what's really important
I grew up as a middlechild and the only daughter and I always saw Stephanie as my favorite character on the show. I was only three years old when the show started, so I understood better as I grew older why that was. Her storyline appealed much to me. Growing up it was the getting picked on and peer pressure particularly, and something I didn't connect the dots on while witnessing it, was a friend of mine who was verbally abused by members of her family. I fortunately didn't loose a parent when I was a child, but I lost my Dad when I was 22 and I can definetely relate to the feelings of loss Stephanie went through. It's a pain that never goes away, particularly when there are family milestones he will never witness. Like when my brother got married and when my niece was born. I will likely be a total wreck when I get married and he won't be there to give me away. Hashtag love Stephanie Tanner.
there are SO many other serious issues tackled in Full House that you can make a whole part 2 to this video lol. they definitely didn't shy away from life lessons in the show. its one of the things I love about it.
Or when DJ helped a senior citizen with Alzheimer’s. Almost every full house sad moments are full of these clips. Not that they are not sad or say a message, their more rememberable
A lot of 80s and 90s sitcoms were usually a bit heavy-handed when taking on serious issues. Full House was an exception because they always handled serious topics in a respectful manner that was organic to the show and the characters. I was kind of hoping to see "The Volunteer" on this list. It was one of the earliest examples I know of dealing with the issue of a loved one having Alzheimer's.
@@lexkanyima2195 Tyler Perry's House Of Payne was an exception too but it first aired in 2007.And the episodes with Janine's drug addiction really was intense
Watching this after Bob passed is extremely hard. I grew up watching Full House, so rewatching the lessons that his character taught is heart warming. I've passed his lessons to my nieces and nephews, and hopefully someday to my own children.
Okay a little bit of a tangent but bear with me 😅 When they were talking about body issues and poor DJ almost fainted I noticed that all of the family was at the gym working out together and that is a really cool idea... family gym time is a great way to encourage and teach kids about being healthy so when they grow up taking care of their bodies is a habit that they've already established similar to breathing their teeth or doing chores around the house I'm in full support of family gym time!
Great list. I loved this show, and it did a great job of bringing these issues to light. One thing they should've added to the "loss" part (after the girls' mom) was Papouli's death (jesse's grandfather). I remember seeing that around age 10 or 11, and it really got to me. The rawness of the next morning after he died, and even the part where Jesse was trying to distract himself being busy/making arrangements etc, until the end of the episode when him & Michelle are out in the backyard and they finally cry together, letting it all out...talk about a good cry!
That episode should have also shown Jesse’s parents. Papouli may be Jesses grandfather but he had kids too and losing a parent is never easy. That one should have touched base with his parents and how they were coping too.
i watched this show as a kid, has a massive crush on jesse back then. rewatched it as a teenager, still had a massive crush on jesse. i rewatched it as an adult well into my 20s again, thinking i'm not gonna feel the same anymore only to realize NOPE, still have a massive crush on uncle jesse. he's far too handsome and too wholesome not to love haha
I would watch this show everyday after I got home from school! It never gets old! Fuller house can't hold a candle to it The smoking episode is one I would always watch in middle school I was at the age where I first encountered peer pressure
People tend to rag on this show but it was really great for those of us who grew up with it when we were kids and were going through similar things. It was funny and heart-wrenching and helped a lot.
I'm surprised Stephanie was so careless in the reckless driving episode considering her mother was killed in a car accident. Just like the one when DJ gets angry with Kimmy after she tries to drive home drunk cuz her mother was killed by a drunk driver
@@PrinceTrexus She was a teenager... you can keep living in your own past, or move forward. Stephanie didn't move too forward correctly, but, again, she was a teenager, lol.
That’s the thing about Full House. A sitcom like this tackling topical issues is something that balances between the humor and the drama. It shouldn’t just be about the laughs and this is good!
I've honestly never seen the Thanksgiving episode. It carries the same message as Charlie Brown's Thanksgiving. "Thanksgiving is more than eating. You heard what Linus was saying out there. Those early Pilgrims were thankful for what had happened to them, and we should be thankful too. We should just be thankful for being together."
I can relate to some of these issues. Loosing my pop when I was in elementary school and my first time experiencing death at a young age, my granny passing away when I was a senior in high school, and my grandfather passing away this year in January. I miss them so much. Plus, I had to overcome an abusive relationship in which the girl I was with physically hit me got away scoff free. These things and many others I had to deal with growing up, are just so hard for me.
This last Fall, I took a Screenwriting class in college (I am a senior). In this class, I learned that comedy, like Full House, and Fuller House for example, can be an effective tool to bring awareness to serious issues like those you mentioned above. I was also taught many other comedy shows such as South Park, Family Guy, and SNL do a good job at doing the same if done correctly.
@@m56214 Lizzie McGuire actually had an episode that touched on body image. Lizzie’s friend Miranda thought she was getting too big and started starving herself. It was treated with serious gravity, even the little cartoony moments.
I always loved the storyline about life's lessons and how child rearing in this day and age can be challenging at best. It's nice to know how much these children are ideal examples of golden children who know how to appreciate what they have at the end of the day - not make their parents feel that parenting is a thankless job.
The abuse episode always bugged me as a kid. After DHS was called on us, my life got SO MUCH worse. They didn't do anything, and the fact that they'd been called just pissed off my abuser. All I could think about was how the kids dad would have just told them it was all his kid misbehaving and making stuff up and they would have just walked out.
Thats the dystopian truth of it all isn't it? The show had good intentions but it's too bad our country doesn't have the resources to back up situations like this
I can relate to "systems" in place failing me on a personal level. It wasn't domestic abuse, although something that should never have happened that was supposed to be a protective thing. I don't want to turn my comment into attention towards me. I'll just say it was physical and emotional abuse while forcibly committed in a juvenille asylum that literally almost killed me; occurred twenty two years ago, I still have a death wish. But yeah, so sorry nothing was done in your case. Hope you're possibly doing better now.
Absolutely thrilled you made this video! This show was truly a special gem, with incredible humour and genuine heart. My family started to watch it in the early 2000s and we still quote it from time to time.
Losing a parent is not easy, and I wish I had been able to remember the episodes that touched on it when I lost my mum to cancer. I was 11 at the time. The first Mother’s Day without her was tough for several reasons, but mostly because of school. A week of activities where we would write about and prepare cards for our mums. I was the only one writing in past tense and colouring a puzzle sheet because I didn’t feel right making a card for anyone else when it was supposed to be for Mum…and it wasn’t like I could just leave one at her grave because it could get blown away or ruined by the rain. Then came the day of the Mother’s Day stall. The first one I wasn’t buying her a present. Again, it felt wrong to get something for someone who wasn’t her. And on top of that, I had to deal with bullies teasing me about her being gone. “I got my mum this, what did you get for yours? Oh right, you can’t get anything for her because she’s dead.” I had already dealt with bullies hassling me for years but that was the first time I actively wanted to slap them and get them to shut up. Then came the Sex Education night where we had to attend with a parent or guardian of the same gender for when we split into groups. If it hadn’t been for my great-aunt (Dad’s aunt who has since passed away) stepping up where all else let me down, I would have had to miss out. Even though the school knew (my teachers had attended Mum’s funeral and a notice about her passing away during the Christmas holidays was in the school newsletter), they said I wasn’t even allowed to attend with Dad. I’m just glad they didn’t have any Mummy-Daughter activity days outside of Sex Education Night. Then there was always that feeling of grief that hit whenever I saw my friends with their mums. It never got easier. It’s been 25 years since Mum died, and it never gets easier. I still miss her and want her to come back, especially in my most vulnerable moments. Nobody is ever prepared for such…
The "Aftershocks" episode took place roughly a month after the infamous "Earthquake" World Series (which took place in October 1989 and that Series, as well as "Full House" , happened to air on ABC).
Jodie sweeten nailed the role throughout all seasons.... She was exceptionally good & extraordinary.... I'm really glad they made this show's reboot.... ❤️❤️
Facts being the middle child, being stood up by a guy she had a crush on,dealing with her great grandfather's death, DJ's eating disorder situation, the situation with accidentally cutting Jesse's hair,The trip the entire family took to Disney World and Michelle was getting so much attention and then Michelle losing her memory in the last two episodes
Another episode that dealt with the issue of being picked on was DJ's first day of high school when she wore the same outfit as the teacher and had to eat lunch in a phone booth and the next day Kimmy convinced her to dress like a hooker. That episode had a great moment between DJ and Becky when Becky showed her how to properly apply makeup
There was also the last episodes where Michelle lost her memory. And the episode where DJ went out with a guy that had a van and was known with all the girls. There's also the episode where Danny starts to date someone and one of the girls gets upset
This show had a huge impact on my childhood! I remember I used to just stick around for the intro, and then watch Adult Swim until I passed out on the couch. Then one night I decided to watch an episode, and I was hooked!
Full house was a wonderful coming of age show for the whole family. It was funny at times it also had real life situations every kid and family has to deal with. It was iconic. My favorite characters were Danny and DJ.
Danny Tanner was without question badass and loving. Bob Sagat nailed that role like a master. Danny was my fav. He always had the right answer and when he didn't, he searched for it until he made it right. RIP Bobby, One of the greatest father figures to have lived. If he isn't in heaven then I don't want to go to heaven either.
I lost my two grandmothers, my maternal grandpa, and, he died before I was born, but my paternal grandpa(if that makes sense) I can definitely relate to the loss of papouli
Finally thank you so much for making this video I love Full House so much I’m hoping number one was handling death because that episode is really good but sad at the same time. Also the episode where Kimmy eloped should be on the list at least as a I honorable mention.
Although the way it happened is beyond preposterous, but Michelle falling and getting amnesia was pretty serious…not much else is scarier than to see a loved one have no clue who you are and forget ALL you have been through together! Granted that is usually seen in older adults with dementia, but still a serious topic of mental health nonetheless…
I can definitely relate to losing a parent. I lost my mom 4 years ago from lung cancer and not a day goes by that I don't think of her or miss her like crazy.
this is why full house is one of the very best tv shows ever because it can be funny and real and sad at the same time one of my absolute favorite list ever ❤
@@odinfromcentr2 I know, but it still sucks. They could have at least mentioned him again or had him come back later on. Heck, I would have loved to see him in Fuller House.
@@KaijuganI get that. Although I haven't watched the show in decades, there was an instance from an early season where a young relative named Howie stays with Michelle for one episode and she becomes devastated after he leaves. Much later in the series, he comes back and she dismisses him for "being a boy" if memory serves. So that comes back into play over any other more serious plot. Not sure if it was even the same actor or not. Seeing Charles on Fuller House would be a stretch, though; since that storyline only existed in that one episode. But yeah, still would've been a touching surprise.
I grew up with this show and it my favorite to watch. My mom would even watch it with me sometimes lol that was our quality time together when I was a kid. I miss this show sm. Fuller House is nothing compared to this. I feel like the shows from back then were so much better than now :( Even though I don't watch television as much as before, but I still guarantee it that there's nothing from the present that can compare to shows like Degrassi(2001), Boy Meets World, and Full House, ofc.

@@kyliesmith9199 it was in the episode when Stephanie and Gia got in trouble and Danny was talking to Gia’s mom. I think he had laryngitis (however you spell it)…lost his voice…and Gia’s mom gave him some of her special cough medicine that was a family secret recipe.
That was one of my favorite lines from Danny in the later seasons of the original series (full house)!!

Cold chills bro
I actually liked Kimmy's outfit for the Smash Club
@@anthonyhenderson2804 I did too
Well Stephanie didn't actually break Jesse's arms.
I thought Jesse’s dad or grandfather passes away would be on there. That would’ve struck me so much
Or when DJ helped a senior citizen with Alzheimer’s.

Watching this after Bob passed is extremely hard. I grew up watching Full House, so rewatching the lessons that his character taught is heart warming. I've passed his lessons to my nieces and nephews, and hopefully someday to my own children.
Okay a little bit of a tangent but bear with me 😅
When they were talking about body issues and poor DJ almost fainted I noticed that all of the family was at the gym working out together and that is a really cool idea... family gym time is a great way to encourage and teach kids about being healthy so when they grow up taking care of their bodies is a habit that they've already established similar to breathing their teeth or doing chores around the house
I'm in full support of family gym time!
Love this idea!
The episode with the aftermath of the San Francisco earthquake was one of the best, because it incorporated a real life event into the series.
The episode makes me sob.
That episode should have also shown Jesse’s parents. Papouli may be Jesses grandfather but he had kids too and losing a parent is never easy. That one should have touched base with his parents and how they were coping too.
I had the biggest crush on uncle Jesse as a kid. Lol and I watched this show in the early 2000s, several years after the episodes aired first.
Same. He was pretty handsome 😌
He's still a hottie!
i watched this show as a kid, has a massive crush on jesse back then. rewatched it as a teenager, still had a massive crush on jesse. i rewatched it as an adult well into my 20s again, thinking i'm not gonna feel the same anymore only to realize NOPE, still have a massive crush on uncle jesse. he's far too handsome and too wholesome not to love haha
i grew up with fuller house (i love both but full house is better) AND HES STILL HAWT 🥵🥵🥵
Another good one is where Michelle really learns about death with the passing of Papouli. And she and Jesse both learn it's okay to grieve.
I would watch this show everyday after I got home from school! It never gets old! Fuller house can't hold a candle to it
The smoking episode is one I would always watch in middle school
I was at the age where I first encountered peer pressure
Some nights I would watch it and other times I would watch it before going off to school
People tend to rag on this show but it was really great for those of us who grew up with it when we were kids and were going through similar things. It was funny and heart-wrenching and helped a lot.
I think people rag on this show was bc when they got to the later seasons and focused on Michelle instead of Stephanie
This was my favorite show when I was a kid and I loved that they always managed to cover topics that hit home for me
Even this recap brought me to tears. Every single one of them. This was such a great show.
I'm surprised Stephanie was so careless in the reckless driving episode considering her mother was killed in a car accident.

That’s the thing about Full House. A sitcom like this tackling topical issues is something that balances between the humor and the drama. It shouldn’t just be about the laughs and this is good!
But it was not believable enough
As someone who lost their mom at the same age as Stephanie and almost lost my dad on multiple occasions this series has always spoken to me
This last Fall, I took a Screenwriting class in college (I am a senior). In this class, I learned that comedy, like Full House, and Fuller House for example, can be an effective tool to bring awareness to serious issues like those you mentioned above. I was also taught many other comedy shows such as South Park, Family Guy, and SNL do a good job at doing the same if done correctly.

The show had good intentions but it's too bad our country doesn't have the resources to back up situations like this
I’m so sorry the system failed you like that!

Nobody is ever prepared for such…
I'd love to see a list for FULLER HOUSE.
