My late mother had the best response to this phenomenon I’ve ever heard. “Quit ‘loving’ people straight to hell.” When they find themselves in hell for eternity they will wish more than anything, that someone would have told them the truth. How arrogant and selfish, to put your desire to be comfortable in the world and be liked by the world, over the souls of the lost. That is an abomination.

My old pastor used to say the same things “the church is loving people straight into hell” sadly it’s so true..

So true I'm fighting for this with my Church and Pastor because he is too " loving" and these people he is preaching to just hear that Jesus loves them and basically they can stay the same in sin...no! Not self righteous I just want people to really know Jesus and you can't do that continually loving the world and your selfish desires. God bless you all!

Of all the Christian artists out there who would have thought Skillet and Cooper would be front and center on calling out the garbage of the modern church.
And to think so many Christians were blasting skillet for going “secular” and touring with non Christian bands. Stay strong John! Keep up the Lords work!

Setting Lil Nas X's behavior aside, his message that Christianity is just one of many identities to try on is problematic all by itself.

So true, and that takes the priority from:
"You can love people any way they want to be loved, but only as long as God is OK with it."
      to:
"You can love God any way He wants to be loved, but only as long as people are OK with it."

It’s unfortunate Lecrae gets more views on his video than this one gets. Lecrae is totally correct in not treating sinners badly, and Christian’s have done quite well in DETERRING people from the faith rather than attracting them. HOWEVER, to not point out that Nas is playing a dangerous game is UNLOVING. It is ALL about your TACTIC, and the way you speak to people. You can point it out politely. It’s not an either/or situation- either you say it badly or not at all. No. You can point out that Nas is mocking God and playing a dangerous game, lovingly. If you don’t then you do not actually care about him at all. You’re basically feeding someone poison with sugar.

Yes!!! Spoken with conviction, but also with love. Would really love to hear an honest response from the Christians who "just want to be light and love". I totally get where they're coming from. I want to be that too. I worry about pushing people away from the truth. But yes, Jesus spoke truth that would hurt people's feelings. We have to be willing to do that too.

I truly appreciate you and your ministry through your podcast. I agree with most of your opinions. There is one thing that I struggle to agree with. When you were saying that we are all brothers and sisters in Christ I do struggle with those who call themselves Christians, but they use their platform to go against what scripture teaches us. On judgment day Jesus will say "Depart from me I never knew you".

I 100% agree with you. As a returning person to faith, I believe that a true coming to Christ/messiah comes through conviction. And as servants of Christ, we need to guide people in both love and conviction. That is what Christ did. He pointed out the sin, then lovingly said sin no more.

I mean, obviously he wasn’t a very observant one, but was he not king of the Jews in the way that the awful Kings in the Old Testament, Saul, books of Kings, Judges, etc would have been? Ready to be corrected if I’m wrong. Keep up the good work!

Agree with your observations, my husband & I are seeing this too creeping in the church. When you mention abortion or lgtbq issues/ protection of children, or unions that are now blessed, it is labeled as political or too divisive to discuss or share. We should be praying for these things and not remain silent. The gospel must be proclaimed. Yet, if we choose to be quiet & try to be establish neutrality, the gospel would not make sense, no conviction of sin, why we need a Savior, etc. We have increased our time in Word & prayer to prepare. Thank you for faithfulness to Christ.

  • @AllYourBaseAreBelongToU5

I posted this on Facebook in January 2023.
“Our present society frames being kind as accepting sinful lifestyles and ensuring everyone ‘belongs’. But we are called to speak the truth in love.
‘Faithful are the wounds of a friend; profuse are the kisses of an enemy.’
    ‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭27‬:‭6‬ ‭ESV‬‬
Love doesn’t mean accepting wickedness in a loved one’s life. It’s graciously warning them of the danger they’re in. It’s entirely unloving to let someone drown if you can help. You wouldn’t let someone drown for fear of offending or embarrassing them. Eternal life or death is even more important. Don’t let hell be the final place they belong.”

I don't want to have to say it, but it's critical. This is my first time listening to your podcast. I have been a long time listener to Skillet and have used your music in ALMOST all my street ministry endeavors. I was born and raised in a Christian home, accepted Jesus as Lord of my life at the age of six. I am a non-white woman. I say ALL that to say, that I with fear and trembling unto the Lord ask you to PLEASE slow down rebuke on Lecrae and mentioning Tyrese UNTIL you go out of your way to know something of substance regarding them.
The black community and church have lived an extremely different life in Christ than a white Christian in America. I believe you are sincere and well meaning but it's critical that you approach issues that have any hue of race involved with caution. Learn your brethren. Ask the Lord about the matter. I want to believe that you and the brothers I mentioned would get along wonderfully. But from what I'm hearing in this episode, I'm not sure it would be safe maybe even hurtful. I mean, non-whites have to know their white brothers but whites seem to not feel the need to get to know us. Point blank the Holy Spirit is sick of that. Ease up and get to know before you start dropping names.

Lacrae would be right if Lil Nas X was repenting and like the lost son wanted to come home. Then if people were criticizing him and judging his motives that would be like the older brother of the prodigal and it would be wrong. But thats not what is going on here. He's mocking God. He's not trying to figure things out or interested in changing. He needs truth in love. I feel bad that Lacrae has this so backwards.

No stealing your relative's wife and not killing your unborn child aren't just exclusively Christian ethics. You know who told me that? Atheists on the internet who say they don't need no Ten Commandments to know that murder and adultery are wrong.

  • @johnlambert8178
    @johnlambert8178 9 місяців тому

Telling a person we don’t dig mocking God is not judging. If you steal, your a thief, if you lie, your a liar. That is not judging. Taking authority away from God’s supreme judgement and tell a person they are going to hell is judging. To come to a conclusion against someone because of what they do is being judgmental. I’m done, I’m washing my hands of you forever, that’s judgment. Calling a person out is not judging a person.
