That's how its always been i asked an old mechanic when i was a kid how fast will it go and he asked me how much money do you want to spend i soon caught on.
TheGiant Gaming you all are wrong🤣 it’s just 2 cylinders worth of the Noonan 4.900 bore center outlaw hemi. It’s a dyno mule to try different combinations at a lower cost.
Wow man, I don't even know where to start...I have ALWAYS been into Sonny's engines, but that flat four as well as the V-twin are both really cool. These engines are just mind blowing. Thanks for taking the time to post them all for us!
Fantastic bad azz content, great video Thank you for sharing. Please keep em coming, everyone keep yourselves and love ones safe and healthy and remember to SMILE.
around 20 years ago someone had built what we today would call a crude version of that v-twin. it started with a keith black top fuel block, cut into pieces and welded back together as a 2 cylinder. brad anderson heads got the same treatment. iirc it ran a 6-71 blower, and it did run on nitro, and made around 1200hp. it was built for a land speed car. i figured this v-twin was either a display piece, or something for another land speed car. interesting to see its actually a dyno mule.
There are some incredibly smart people out there with some serious cnc machining skills. I showed my brother who is a killer cnc machinist and he was pretty impressed. We have always wanted to build our own cars since we used to build plastic models together. All I need is around 30 million in hundreds and a fire proof credit card because I would be cookin' that thing buying parts....... I want to create my own suspension done with computer controlled hydraulic pumps at crazy pressure levels to react fast enough to control the transfer of weight front to back and side to side..... could be done..... just need some cash.
Hold up. That Sonny's Racing engine makes about 153 HP/liter naturally aspirated. That's incredibly impressive. Also, If the Jesel engine lives up to it's hype, the current estimate is that it will produce 1325 HP with a 12000 RPM redline. That's 189 HP/liter, which is insane! Can't wait to hear what that sounds like.
I’m very confused, that isn’t that much? Mercedes builds a stock mass produced engine with 2.0 liters and 4 cylinders. It makes over 400hp, of course it’s turbocharged. But much more efficient and more power than the engines you praise. And it runs 150000 miles without an rebuild.
@@rolux4853 what's impressive about these engines is that they make that much power per liter WITHOUT a turbo or supercharger. I think the highest naturally aspirated output per liter in a production car is the Pagani Huayra R with 139 hp/liter. I believe the Honda S2000 still holds the record for more normal production cars at 124 hp/liter. Also please check the age of the comment before you reply to it.
The two cylinder test engine is pretty interesting . Here in Australia I knew a guy who built an engine of similar size by cutting the front two cylinders off a Rolls Royce merlin V12 . then ran it in a motor bike.
That's the architectural limits of a 1920s engine design. 99% of other manufacturers had realised 4v heads and OHC with spark in the centre of the chamber and true crossflow designs were superior almost 60 years ago. America will catch up. Eventually.
Two stroke diesels are awesome and very clean. A radial four (X) has near zero torque vibration and no mechanical vibration. A twin row is even smoother. All four rods are carried on one crank pin so simple to make. Intake are is blown through reed valves. Exhaust has a variable port height to keep the torque high across the range.
I think that when Rolls Royce were developing the Merlin and "R" engines they ran single cylinder prototypes to see the potential horsepower figures. So to see the "twin" is unusual but not a first. Of course aeroengine manufacturers were pioneers in supercharging and turbocharging .
Royce's made "star" engines to test concepts for their 24 cyl X engines and many single cylinder test engines, one of which led to the infamous 'ramp head' in the very first Merlins, which failed badly when scaled to the full size V12.
Oh it's really special never heard on v2 1000hp engine...love to hear this massively supercharged beast ...well it's easy to overhaul with just two massive clynders

Back in the day at the time of Daytona qualifying. They said the cranks were timed 180° past TDC. With different firing order. I thought they were using a flat plane crank some how. They were timed like the Rodeck engines. Giving them a completely different sound. You could here the difference with pull trucks using them. Just something I remember about those engines.
I’ll take 1 twin blown V16’s please. Then I’ll put it in the bed of my 1970 long bed Chevy pick up so it’s mid engine-ish. The motors probably worth 6 times with my truck is. I think that’s a good investment😂! Smiles are priceless. Also have a Merry Christmas or whatever you celebrate people.

That V16 is pretty cool for a race boat and I'm sure some people will try to put them in cars. I'd like to see what they could do if they tried to push the numbers higher though. Right now they're only practical for race boats because in something like a drag car they'd be too heavy for how much power they make.
