Holy shit man I just read that story! Very clever indeed of Tom he is a genius. Many people can interpret this in many ways. Weather it be a relationship, addiction, whatever it may be. If you are going thru a burdon in your life all you need to do is rid yourself from the gluttonous 'wolf'. That girl, your addiction, anything can 'bite like a wolf'. Once you rid yourself, 'are you, are you ready I'm waiting, to begin'. Then you are free and can live your life how you want to live! If anyone sees this and has anything to add please do. This is only what I think it means after looking up the story that xRadicalAurax posted about. Fucking Tom dude he boggles my mind sometimes :)

Sounds similar doesn't mean it's stolen lol. A lot of songs sound similar to each other. It's just the product of how many bands and songs exist in the world.
What you have witnessed here is the evolving of not only a musician, but a human being. Tom went from an average guitar player who joked about fucking dogs to a full blown one man army. Writing, production, clothing companies, animation, movies, etc. etc. This man has dipped his pen in so many different ink it's not even funny. And if you ask me, he's doing a great job. He has accomplished so much in his life, he should be very proud.
With that said, fucking love this new AvA. I knew after the first album that I would continue to love this band. I have not been disappointed.

Man, AVA is one of the only bands that touches me on an emotional level. Such a beautiful band and I personally think Tom's performance has been incredible since this band formed.
Like U2 they have a spiritual element to it...a true touch from heaven in my opinion.

If you're an actual musician you would know whats going on here. And if you've followed Ilan Rubin's career you would know he's been an amazing session and live drummer for NIN, Paramore, and other bands over the years. Ilan was the front man of his own band The New Regime for years but when was approached a permanent position from Tom back in 2013 he accepted... Wouldn't you????
On top of all of that Ilan is a singer, guitarist, songwriter, pianist, drummer, bassist, recording engineer, producer. That's what you call a "One man band".
A renaissance man... I bet you Ilan had a greater helping hand in shaping a tremendous amount of ingredients within this album.
I've been doing the same thing as Ilan for years... I've just released my first album on itunes as a one man band project, it took me 2 years to finish... my artist name is

I actually emailed Tom about joining AvA as a replacement guitarist but I doubt I will get a reply.
Ilan has my up most respects and will only make AvA better with this release and over time. Tom has written some of my most favorite and memorable music over the last decade.

I agree with you that he is an amazing musician, but he is not a "Renaissance man," that's comparing him to Da Vinci or Thomas Jefferson who were absolute geniuses in multiple fields during their time.
The word you were looking for was "utmost." Also, don't be so snooty. Nobody wants to listen to a one man band that opens a comment on a UA-cam video with "if you're an actual musician..."

Blink 182's "I Miss You" is underrated, because it was a single, everybody heard it but most people found it just ok or alright. Even though it's very well written, poetic and beautiful. THAT is what underrated means.

The best way I can describe Angels and Airwaves sound is that I want to be the music. It has such purpose and it makes you feel like you can do anything and get through everything life has to offer. Their music is something that lives inside me.

Tom has a type of magic about him, both his voice and his music- no matter how much it has changed or ever will change- will always have the power to make me feel 16 again. Love it.
This is the first time I heard this song and I`m like "who is this? Why is he so familiar? why do I like it so much?" and then I see Tom. Blink 182 was one of my favourite bands growing up and I aspecially liked the later things, what were more deep and emotional. The silly stuff were OK too but he is REALY good. This is a good song. I`m glad YouTUBE recommended it to me!

Holy Hell has this song grown on me!!! Initially I was listening to tunnels more but wolfpack has been on blast for 2 straight days now haha. I seriously love AVA and Blink although AVA will always have a special place in my heart.. Blink did - when I was younger - but not nearly on as a deep a level as AVA simply because what i was going through when I first heard them. With that said this Dream Walker is so FRESH and this song is SO DAMN CATCHY. It's basically what a mainstream band would do only Tom and Ilan do it far better. Ilan is a great producer as well so it's no surprise. makes me really happy because I was really questioning and hoping I would like the album. I friggin love it like all the rest!!! Everything inside AND outside of blink that Tom touches turns to gold.... unlike Mark and Travis - no disrespect - Tom is simply an amazing singer/songwriter using the platform of a full band. Few artists are as good and can do it with success for so long.

Atom was a fantastic drummer, there's no denying that. But Tom needed Ilan, an all round musician to be able to push Angels forward and away from the rehashed riffs and chord progressions. It's a no brainer, I think the new album will be one their best since We Don't Need To Whisper. It's pushing their boundaries.

Tom didn't really "leave" Blink. Mark and Travis were ready to start back up as a full time band together again. Tom wanted it to be more like a legacy band, doing concerts once in a blue moon and releasing small albums randomly. He didn't want to go fully back into Blink. Also as Travis said, Tom doesn't want to do Punk anymore. I think at Toms age and his current vocal range. It was a wise and best choice he could have made. Blink will do fine with their new singer. Angels and Airwaves isn't sub par to blink at all. I always preferred to have Tom singing most of the time anyways Mark has a very monotone voice.
Wasn't really into this song at first but it's grown on me a ton... Ilan's groove is SICK with the synth playing behind it.
I remember really not liking this song when it came out since I was a hardcore early album enjoyer of AVA. Now as an older person, I love this song even more

As a blink182 fan, the best that Tom could do was resign to blink182. I love what he has become because his teenage fans have grown up. Blink82 is a good memory from childhood, but as an adult, AVA is a pleasure to listen to.

Tom has a habit of reusing rhythms and chord progressions. Dry Your Eyes, Everything's Magic, and When I Was Young are examples of having both.

I don't understand this argument over which is better between blink and AVA. Both are great!! I grew up with Blink, however, AVA has taken me to places no other group has. Blink seems to be more of a collaboration between three great musicians, whereas AVA is like an entrance into the mind of DeLonge, the inner workings of his mind and spirit go into AVA songs versus Blink seeming to try and target an adolescent audience. I personally favor AVA a little more as they are my favorite group ever, it's more of an acquired taste, which is what I think people mean when they say it's a more mature or sophisticated sound. Blink seems to attract a larger audience because the songs are about a broad spectrum of fundamental experiences of life (i.e. first love's, breakups, accepting change in one's life) whereas AVA seems to go a little more in depth with songs about once in a lifetime spiritual experiences, answers to philosophical questions, and what personally inspires him.

Iv been a blink fan for new 15+ years. When they broke, it was sad, when they got back together it was happy time. Then the new album came out, it did not appeal to me at first, but it grew on me. When the ava we dont need to whisper came out, it was like nothing iv heard before. It was a fucking huge album. I fell off AVA after I-Empire and after that they didnt keep me interested atall. Band members started leaving. With Critter passing away, AVA looked to be going south. I was aware that Ilan Rubin joined up with AVA but never got back into listening to them. But then i heard this song, and it brought me back into being interested in AVA. Im not sure if im just maturing musically and my taste has changed but this side of Tom, is what i like. Tom and Ilan are strangely good together and since knowing of Ilan from lostprophets and seeing him live with Nine inch nails, i thought it was a strange pairing, but it works. Im not sure about anybody else, but i can hear Ilans input and influence on this sound and not just with the drums.
The fact of the matter is, I will always be a blink fan, and so will many other people. People grow old (not grow up lol) things change. Im open to change and progression, if people did the same thing it would be boring and become ill relevant, this is a perfect example of a new direction. Im hoping the new blink stuff will be different, but i hope toms keeps his space, alien shit for AVA, because thats what separates him from blink. This is his side project, I for one, would not like it if ava sounded like blink, it would be boring. I know for a fact that i would be a fan of AVA if they had nothing to do with blink.
My only criticism to AVA is to appeal to everyone and cut down on that poet anderson thing. Its absolute everywhere & It is not for everyone. A good music video is as important as the track now a days. Tom is not young anymore, he is a man in his mid 30's. The whole image of adolescence and teen angst can only be used for so long. This does not suite AVA at this stage of their career and is part of the reason why i dont tend to watch their videos.
I admire Tom and what AVA have done. The ideas are great. L.O.V.E was good , ( i can understand why some people may not get it, but thats part of life). Im going to give this new album a play when its drops for sure.

I actually really love the fact that David is working on more of the Angels & Airwaves franchise related stuff rather than the music this time round.. I think Llan and Tom's writing styles really work well together (from what ive heard so far) and I think the idea of the band being a double act is pretty cool too. I can't imagine it'll stay this way though as Tom's always trying new stuff with this project. Angels are seriously incapable of producing anything I dislike though.. I LOVE that Tom's really trying to push the envelope with it all!

Angels & Airwaves has changed really radically as of late, and I'm a bit bummed out that I discovered them after the whole "Love" thing had leveled out. I fell in love with their music and connected to it in a way that I've not connected to any other band or group before. It's difficult to see things become so different, but I totally support AvA in their new project. I'm thinking that it will be a new adventure with greater things to come than what has already happened. I AM READY for The Dream Walker!
Guys actually comparing Blink to Ava are mad. Blink is truly the main band coming out from the mainstream and making punk go back to life. So you have to understand. Ava is another part/family of Blink. No band such as plus 44,bcr and ava are better than Blink. They never will be.

For anyone curious about the main protagonist in this music video, he is supposed to be a portrayal of Poet Anderson, the main hero in AVA's "Poet Anderson: The Dream Walker," a short animated movie. Every non die hard AVA fan I show this song to loves it and digs the new direction. My friend plays this song on the radio at work and frequently gets people at the counter inquiring about the song.
Something tells me the complaints are mostly just from fans stiff to change and overly reminiscent of the classic AVA days. If things don't evolve they die. Learn to progress into unfamiliar territory. It's how growth and maturation occurs, even if it isn't completely successful at first try.

it's weird for me to think that Ed Breckenridge is in AVA now. I'm happy for him, and I'm glad he's making music with AVA bc they're awesome, but it makes me a bit nervous thinking that the reunion of Thrice might be a bit farther away now. ;/ i know this is a side project, but I'm dying for Thrice to come back. :'(

Ed said on twitter that he had no involvement with the writing or tracking of the new AvA album. Tom said in a BBC interview that AvA won't be touring anytime soon so I don't think it will affect thrice at all :-)

I don't know why people complain that much. I love both, blink and AVA, but if I had to choose, I preffer blink, But that doen´t mean I don´t like that Tom focus on AVA. He is making another type of music that he likes, music that he can´t do at blink, and it's awesome. Tom can focus on blink or AVA when he fucking wants, and if you are a true fan of him, you should support him always. LONG LIVE TOM DELONGE.

To the people saying the chorus sounds like I Miss You - they have different melodies and a similar rhythm. But the reason you notice... is because the rhythm is somewhat unique to begin with. Most song lyrics in popular music reuse the same basic rhythms. One is just desensitized to hearing them again and again.
This has gotta be on of AVA's best songs. Top 5 for sure.

I appreciate this song so much. I love the rhythm, the lyrics, the intensity and the love in this song. Absolutely a gem of AVA.
Didn't care much for Love Pt2 and I thought the Surrender video was not very well put together. I, however, love this song and this video was phenomenal.
Regarding the drama with Blink:
Blink isn't his priority anymore. It stopped being his priority in 2005. When Blink got back together, Mark and Travis KNEW that AVA wasn't going anywhere. They accepted that. So the fact that they are slamming him for that now makes no sense, ESPECIALLY because Travis has released an album with the Transplants AND a solo record since the last Blink album, so he has not right to slam Tom for being in AVA. If anything, Travis has put off the new Blink album more than anyone else. When you're 40, you don't need to be writing songs about fucking a dog in the ass, getting grounded, or passing out drunk at your friends house. Tom has grown up, and so should some of you.
Keep up the good work, Tom. Can't wait to see what the future holds for you and AVA.
For me "The War" is never going to be beaten, but this and "Anomaly" are just superb songs. Tom, keep making magical music. there's always gonna be fans that can relate their lives to you music, and will be forever grateful!!
I know this is gonna be blasphemy for some of the fans here but i can truely say that i love AVA more then Blink182, both new and old. I think that Tom has finally found what he's been searching for in AVA and now that he is branching more and more into the film making industry as well as music and art in general i think we are bound to see many more amazing things from Tom.

Nobody's 100% sure whether David is still there or not. So, AVA=Two and a Half Man at the moment.

this song has been stuck in my head for weeks.
Regardless of all the (possibly deviating) career development of any of the Blink guys, Blink 182 is always going to be my go to band. I can discover and appreciate new acts, AVA included, but on an especially bad or great day, on a day when something really touching or heart wrenching happens, Blink 182'll still sing my anthems for me.
Regardless of how similar some people may think it sounds to other songs that Tom has produced, I think he has made something pretty amazing here.

Tom DeLonge you have talent and I'm glad to day your my inspiration I will support you no matter what because Evey time I find stuff hard because being a rock star is not easy as you know I just listen to your music including blink 182 because the songs you made in blink is still amazing and you Mark and Travis all pushed blink 182 forward and your albums are amazing as well as your angles and airwaves albums but you always inspire me to carry on no matter how hard the situations get I just keep going just like you did when you never gave up
