Hunting has to be good for their entertainment and keeping their instincts leveling up. What doesnt grow die. Good to keep your pets on their toes and growing. Love this tank.
Thank you for this great video! Your tank looks awesome and gives me some ideas on how I would like to set up my tank! How often do you manually clean your tank? Is it pretty hard with all those plants in it? Would love to see a video of how you clean your tank if you don't have one out yet.
I am so happy I found your video you have answered so many questions I have had for years about safe plants for my axolotls, I have very large tanks for my 11 axolotls, boy tanks girl tanks "I'm not a breeder" Oh I am going today to get a sweet potato for each one of my tanks you are very informative and you take your time to show and teach about each plant. Keep up these great videos they are awesome. Thank you from all my sweet axolotls too.
swords are rosette plants, different than stem plants significantly. some good stem plants to try would be rotala, pogostemon stellatus, or bacopa carolinia. they would be good with the axolotol and stand up to a pretty significant amount of abuse.
From what I’ve seen and read, maybe you should try a layered mix of plant soil, gravel and sand. Soil on the bottom, gravel for a filter and sand so they’re (axo’s) are safe if they accidentally consume it during feeding. It’s something I’m trying this weekend
Lovely video! I had a few questions, however: - Have you owned any axolotls before these two? If so, did you use a similar tank setup for them? How did they fair? - Did you raise your axolotls with the plants from juvenile stages, or introduce the plants after they matured? - Any issues with getting certain plants uprooted by your axolotls? Thanks!
Great video! Thank you for sharing! I'm about to get my own little guy here shortly so this has been helpful! What was the type of dirt you had at the bottom of the tank again??
Cherry shrimp can survive relatively comfortably at lower temperatures, although they'll have low metabolism and it isn't ideal They are quite the adaptable crustacean
What shrimp can I get for my axolotl? I want one that is fast breeding and doesn’t harm the axie and also safe when eaten. I accidentally got whisker shrimp but people say it is aggresive
I have had success with Ghost shrimp but I find in a 20 gal with 2 younger axlotols they can clean up 8 of the shrimp in an evening. I now keep the shrimp in a seperate tank for breeding and move them over as needed. My tank is planted and has lots of hiding spots for the shrimp but maybe a 40 gal would give them more space to grow in. There is also special filters that act as a house for shrimp that may be worth looking into Edit: I have also bought peoples "cull" cherry shrimp to feed and they have been great. Any of the cherry shrimp varieties would do well with the axolotols but again they would be eaten up pretty quick
I'm getting a 55 gallon tank for my two axies!! So exited I hope I won't be having too much problems with the amonia I've had a different 15 gallon tank with fish so that was pretty good! Also are dubia roaches OK for axolotls?
What do you do about gravel vac? typically a substrate that breaks down like that one theres a lot of trouble with actually vaccing the substrate without taking a bunch out or clouding up the tank. are you forgoing the gravel vac and just doing a water change with some occasional spot cleaning feces with a turkey baster?
Ive mine in a 20g and all it wants to do is chill in its hiding area. 3 days ita not come out for food. Now is that bc the lights are being ran 24/7? And with live plants is it okay to turn off the lights during the dark hours or vis versa?
I love your videos keep up the great work I’m setting up my 10 gallon budget saltwater tank right now I have everything but the filter and the light I’m just saving up for the light I have a filter already for it I just need to upgrade it. But I can’t afford the light 😂
Please put more detailed info about the Axolotl, they are interesting and I'm really veering towards getting one but just don't know enough about them, the the way your videos are really cool.
Love your videos man. But bloody hate these things when I worked in my shop we use to sell them, horrid things and there aquarium would always have this pungent smell to it🤮
One thing to say don't grow reall plants it makes it harder and make more hiding places and feed them blood worms and turn the light down #not yelling it's just makes things easyer
Yay, super helpful to learn from your experiences! I definitely want to keep a planted axolotl tank like yours one day. :)
Hi Girl Talks Fish! 👋
@@JackAttack64 👋👋
@@GirlTalksFish hi i watched your videos before I bought my axolotl
I looovee your tank set up 😍😍 I wish more people in the axolotl community did planted tanks !!!

4:00 my jaw dropped I've never thought of a fishing line I've never heard it. This is a gem!!!!

It was nice meeting you today truly a big fan of your work and the info you provide to all of us. now were both 150g buddies lol

this is the best video ive found about live plants thank you so much

Love the tank. I also planted my tank with a tank length tunnel. My little monster loves it

Think about where are axolotl from? Who were they with?? They were supposed to be muddy lakes so I don’t see why a dirt tank would be bad
Love the axolotls! That sweet potato man.... growing like crazy!

I was told by many breeders that this substrate is bad. I wish i saw this before, its such a good substrate.
Can't get enough of these updates. I love the 10 gallon saltwater build your on. Do you plan on stalking it with more fish?
Thanks ive wanted to add plants axoloti tank u have given me alot of great ideas how do u cool your water
How often do you clean the tank with this set up?
Hay dood great video iv really been enjoying your channel later
Great video! Thank you for sharing! I'm about to get my own little guy here shortly so this has been helpful! What was the type of dirt you had at the bottom of the tank again??
Hi!! Love your tank!! What kind of filter system are you using?
How long will you leave your light on for your plants and does your water temp remain constant on its own or do you have a chiller
Is the wire sticking out from the moss risky?
I use H.E.L.P. japanese soil :)
Also your aquarium is really nice! 🖤
Great video buddy 👍 good to see you at RAP
I'm confused? What temperature is the tank? How can u have cheery shrimp in with axolotls as their temperature requirements are completely different.
Cherry shrimp can survive relatively comfortably at lower temperatures, although they'll have low metabolism and it isn't ideal
They are quite the adaptable crustacean

I saw you at Reef-A-Palooza NYC !!
Where did u find the holder for the sweet potato?
Great Video!
Since your plant lights aren't really strong, the monte carlo may need c02 to really start growing
Co2 will kill the axolotls
How much light do you use daily? I’m having issues with algae growth for my axolotl tank
Personally I don’t use a light just the light from the outside or you’re room light it’s been working well for me
@@derekgodfrey6562 can you write name of the soil/substrate and where do you shop that? Thank you in advance!
@@rokcudow I use fine sand I got it from petco if you have discord I can send you picks
Wow awesome setup!
Thanks good video. Will try substrate myself dude 👊 will put it in second tank

I know with most axolotls you have to constantly remove waste, is that still the case with your setup?
Have you tried microsword? I feel like they will tolerate being disturbed more
Does having a planted tank eliminate the need for a filter? I'm new to the hobby, researching planted tanks with axolotls. Thanks!
no, not at all, you absolutely need a filter no matter what
yes^^ especially with axolotls. They are sooo messy and sensitive to parameters!!
3 ft long tank for 1 axie, add 10 gallons for each axie
How do you keep your water cold for the axlotles
What do you do about gravel vac? typically a substrate that breaks down like that one theres a lot of trouble with actually vaccing the substrate without taking a bunch out or clouding up the tank. are you forgoing the gravel vac and just doing a water change with some occasional spot cleaning feces with a turkey baster?
any updates on this tank? has the axolotl wrecked every "planted" plant?
What name was the substrate?
You could always fertilize, So you could keep more of the plants.
Leonard Jordan you can’t fertilize with Axolotls
@@jacobgilpin2223 oh.. I did not know 😬😬 never kept them before, I just assumed.
Could you review the ONF for planted tank. Starting first planted tank and trying to decide on onf or other leds.
What type of material do you put in your filter?
I get scared to put wood in with my axolotls
when do you change the water
Whats your substrate called
I also have a planted axolotl tank, never doing plastic plants again. Natural id so much prettier ^_^
I love your videos
I wish they were marine now that I'm into saltwater
Are there any plants that do shitty between 60/65%
What is the subatrate? Contra soil???

You should never run light for more than 12 hours a day! It'll fill your tank with algae. I leave mine on a 9 hour timers
Update on this tank, how are your Axolotl doing?
What’s ur light?
I love your videos keep up the great work I’m setting up my 10 gallon budget saltwater tank right now I have everything but the filter and the light I’m just saving up for the light I have a filter already for it I just need to upgrade it. But I can’t afford the light 😂
What temperatures does your tank stay around?
66° in *freedom* degrees is best for axolotls
How do u clean the fish tank tho-
I recommend you feed 5 days out of 7
I wanna make mine like this.
How many water changes do you do in a week?
Can't the axolotl jump out 😟
Please put more detailed info about the Axolotl, they are interesting and I'm really veering towards getting one but just don't know enough about them, the the way your videos are really cool.
This is my dream.
Is this from Minecraft
U need sum hides :)
6:54 what you talking bout am human
Just to let you know they can jump out of the water
Yeah they can if you cnt have a lid either make a mesh or don't fill it all the way to the top. Which Is what I done and been recommended
First
U shouldn’t use lights Axies have sensitive eyes!
Just got my inappropriate reef #reefsquad. Shirt today
Axolotls are evolved fish
I AM SAD
Love your videos man. But bloody hate these things when I worked in my shop we use to sell them, horrid things and there aquarium would always have this pungent smell to it🤮
Sounds like the tank wasn't cycled for their high bio load. Most pet stores don't care for them properly so you get the gross smell from the imbalance
One thing to say don't grow reall plants it makes it harder and make more hiding places and feed them blood worms and turn the light down #not yelling it's just makes things easyer
Blood worms depending on age should only be used as a treat, once they’re a juvenile and older there’s not a whole lot of nutritional value to them.
Earthworms are best
Bruh hiding spots are good
