Yeah, and it’s not all about the Velocore hype. There’s been plenty of shafts made over the years that are perfect for different players swings, its just a case of getting out there and testing them to see which one is for you. Tour pros play velocore because they are also equipment salemen.
I find that ALL brands and equivalent models perform for me about the same distance, but as soon as I get a high end Callaway in my hands, I gain ~5-10 yards. I'm not sure what they use in their special sauce, but it's been that way for 35 years, Callaway is just longer. BTW - I'm a TaylorMade man....
Hey one of my drivers cost me $35.00 about 15 years ago and I loved it. Walter Hagen Driver. Some Drivers are way over priced for the difference they proved if any.
Tommy Armour does make excellent equipment. It has never failed. I hope you bought it. I would like to see a test be a Ping 430max. Results may be similar! Must see

Golf is a marketing and brand focused game. We want what the marketing dictates for many reasons, in particular is ego and confidence. I invested my money in lessons and practice vs high end newer clubs, and sure I get looks when I step up to the first tee with my old driver but that quickly changes when I smash the ball and rack up pars and birdies. I also enjoy taking my partners money after each hole 😊. Nothing improves your ego and confidence than the ability to score low. Great video and would love to see more!
I'd play that TA1 every time over the Mizuno. I could never justify $250 more for a yard or two, but I know many people do. Interesting video, thanks y'all.!!
I worked in the Dick's golf section when the new release of the TA clubs came out. Tested in our simulator against the Rogue and the M3 or M4. Pretty much identical results. Ultimately it's the swing that's doing the work. You guys are unlocking some serious secrets that I assume the golf industry probably doesn't enjoy. You can get the same results from a 6 year old driver as you can from a brand new one.

Was that a Kuro Kage black in that Maltby? It’s odd they would have it used for $110, the club new with KK black shaft is $99.99. I build and sell their clubs and they make some damn good ones especially their TS1 IM irons
I bought off the rack full set Tommy's 845CB's awhile back, The iron's were decent the 3wood solid, 3 hybrid easy, the Driver.... You ever heard a rear end car crash from inside the trunk of the car in the front? Horrible and felt the same. But the newer TA for that price. Snobbery aside, very impressive. In saying that, for sale, Tommy Armour 845CB driver, like new with original grip and headcover.
I've never seen a Tommy Aurmor ta driver , but if I find one at that price might just have to pick it up. Wrong shaft flex but looks like you could change that out.
That GD shaft is really tip stiff making it harder to get the face closed unless you can swing pretty fast. I’m sure that Kuro is a much soft active tip. Meaning easier to close the face for 105mph. If you were in the 110+ club head, you may like the GD.

The light shaft is allowing you to not only turn but the flex allows more speed and "whip" exactly why wld guys use LADIES flex shafts...but all flex does is change speed (ball and club) and dispersion (left right on the club face... every one will hit longer drives if they use senior or ladies flex and slow down their swing tbh but it's just counterintuitive to what golf is for most people
I think the 29 dollar driver performed so well due to the name. Tommy Armour was a great ball striker so you would expect a club named after him to be a great ball striker.

Just looking at it, the TA looked to be a half inch or more longer which would explain the greater head speed and distance. Several more custom drivers shorten the higher end shaft to get similar distance with a more controlable length.

You forgot to put your crocks into sports mode by putting the straps back. Adds at least 2 horse power. Would of hit 300 yards.

My golf league partner uses the Tommy Armour driver. He regularly hits 290 yards. Several last year were over 310 yards. He loves that club.

I hit a few more drivers after and the G430 Max was more forgiving but a few yards less than TA
My first driver was a TA 1. Solid driver. They designed it with BMW engineers if I'm not mistaken.
That's correct, I had the 5 wood but that carbon fiber crown popped off unfortunately.

The shaft alone on that Mizuno is $250. I would guess the club with the shaft was around $400
