I didn't watch the original version of this but the extended director's cut last night and it was worth 3hrs of my time. It's beautiful, mesmerising, heartbreaking and unforgettable. I'm still tearing up over it now. Definitely now one of my favourite films.
The music by Gabriel Yared was evocative & wonderful complement to the film ...
fav movie of all time
Wonderful film .. can't recommend it highly enough
My favorite film. I watched it a few times and it always inspires my soul and mind. Photography, script, acting, music, dialogues, unexpected turns, humor, love story…just everything is balanced in an artistic and beautiful way.
Those posters were still up on student house walls in the early 90s
I think this was one of those Red Triangle movies when shown on Channel 4
haha mate i miss them 'red triangle' flicks. I was saying to a mate recently remember the 1980s when Channel 4 Friday night (late) was a bastion of foreign brilliance and sauce/filth.
All time classic by an all time classic director Jean Jacques Beineix. Yet for some reason Criterion collection felt they needed titles by Assayas, Dumont, and Denis first? Doesn't make sense.
Branded To Troll just here it doesn’t make sense? Criterion‘s entire metric doesn’t make sense; they put out AWFUL D-list Godzilla monster movies and great classic masterworks are ignored. And this gets repeated with every single release announcement they make. But the basement Criterion fanboys blindly follow, so they’ll keep churning out Godawful drivel and ignore the greats. Paramount has an entire back catalogue collecting dust that they have access to and choose to ignore. This has always been the Criterion MO, not sure why you’re even surprised. But aside from my surprise at your surprise, I agree with you.
I do not need some plonker telling what happens then snippets
Such a problematic film. Red flag if a man uncritically likes it.
This film is one of the worst pieces of crap I have ever had the misfortune of watching.
An immature (and dim-witted) 'writer' and his obsession with an immature psycho teen.
Neither character invokes any sympathy. Her for being a loon and a danger to herself and everyone around her, and him for being so infatuated by someone so unattractive (I am adressing her personality here).
Luckily for Beineix there are films like The Tourist and Ridley Scott's Alien sequels to draw attention away from what a terrible movie this is.
I can't believe it is so praised. Nudity does not impress me.
You sir have never loved
@@CHAZFILM Oh, I have and I do. But generally I try to steer clear of the total loons.
@@henrikschmidt3964 not if a total loon gave you value
@@henrikschmidt3964 would you tell someone who’s in a wheelchair to get up and walk
I may not agree with what you say but I will defend to the death your right to say it.........no actually I wont you are talking pish absolute pish, you have simply made public your immature naive view of a masterpiece. The world needs shallow opinions too and yours sir certainly has the depth of an empty bath, thank you for showing me that there are poor souls devoid of empathy, compassion and intellect. Good Day my poor shallow little man.
