My first time seeing Delgado .. I know everyone is different but it seems as if he has a very unorthodox style of defending .. I am almost halfway through and I don't think I have seen him sprawl once. There has been many times where athletes have applied their own way of doing things in their particular sport that go against the fundamentals that have been seen as the best way of doing things and therefore are taught to all new people when they first start practicing and learning their craft.. Sometimes I have noticed that it is often the case that athletes have found better ways of doing things just by ignoring the status quo and instead doing things the way that feels natural to them. The way that he goes for the leg instead of what everyone is expecting him to do is probably why he is where he is. Maybe this could be a better way of doing things than the typical sprawl/counter motion.

The way that he transitions from the dive to the leg in response to the counter and then using this move where he pulls both legs up by the ankles, that I have never seen taught in any wrestling room and only comes naturally for someone who has experience, is just the right moves that you need to have to be a champion.. I am rooting for Delgado here.

Nahh he’s very orthodox. Very hyper trained traditional stance, just seems unorthodox because Garrett beat the head, hands, and hips so Delgado had to hit that worst case scenario defense. But he his worst case scenario move still pretty fye. Back then those leg passes were mind blowing. Nowadays a lot of wrestlers can counter the leg pass

Called a funk roll, Ben Askren did it often. You're right though, he does it instinctually. He's gotten so good at funk rolls that it's an automatic stalemate or 2 for him.

Diamond Back if your on one shoulder 90 degrees for 5 seconds the person who isn’t in danger that’s defending it, the defending wrestler gets the takedown.

Delgado loses if current danger situation rules applied. He lays on his back too often and long.
Still super impressive but we’ve seen people get the TD these last few years doing the Delgado dive for the leg
