"Oh this place looks cool"
*A few minutes later*
"SHIT FUCK GO BACK"
I love how this place is just.. there. Like, you do the quest to find the mirapo at the station, and Hazy Lane is just sitting there. You look on the mini map and you see something, you go over to it, and bam hazy lane. I love how this and infinite tunnel are right there during story progression, like how the tunnel is just near Mt. Middleton in Harrisville and how the lane is just in greenfield. They aren't in your way or path directly, but in a position to pique your curiosity to check them out. something about that bit of game design really represents both locations. from the sign we can guess that many kids went missing in these places, killed by their curiosity. all of this attention to detail in these games is why YKW is my favorite series of all time. One change I might make to Inf. Tunnel though is put it in San Fantastico, It would make it still in your story's path, but make it feel kind of out of the way compared to everything else, which Hazy Lane nails by being the only thing to do in a random inconspicuous train station with no significance in YKW 2, making it feel very isolated from everything else.
Things like this are one of the reasons I love yokai watch, and especially 3, you could go through the game thinking it’s just a normal game for kids, but if you go deeper, there’s some weird unsettling stuff. Nothing actually scary, but just creepy enough to a shock when you first encounter them, like the clowns or the man with the red box, etc. And this makes me want to play more, to uncover every mystery, which is exactly what yokai watch 3 is about lol
The games are definitely way more scary than people sometimes think, especially for kids.
What’s even scarier about it is-how many people have unknowingly entered Hazy Lane and then never come home? How many victims has Skulk claimed? I played Hazy Lane with a friend and she was like “the people in this field aren’t people.” And I LOVE that headcannon.
@@literalcreativity2639 I actually almost mentioned that in a comment I was writing under another upload of this song, but deleted the comment on accident before I posted it. I love that headcanon too, these people here, have been whittled down to one thing, everything else that made them unique and themselves, all gone. They've been reduced to whatever drove them to this unfortunate fate of being condemned to the lane. The girl who ran from home, and unknowingly ran into hazy lane. The scarecrow maker, perhaps going to inspect the scarecrows in the field. The writer, taking a walk for inspiration.
The wildest part is that, most likely, *not all of them wandered into this field.* Hazy lane and infinite tunnel are the same... entity/force. It just *moves.* Moody Mary is a manifestation of this force it seems, or perhaps this strange, endless, warping path is a manifestation of her? Who knows, but many of these trapped people may have been for hundreds of years even. There's reason infinite tunnel isn't past harrisville in yo kai watch 2, and that's because it's somewhere else at that time. Skulk and Mallice are just manifestations of Moody Mary's nightmares, and due to the nature of Moody Mary as some inhuman force, they might just be manifestations of general fears, and these are what allow a new location to form. Once they are defeated, it is inevitable that the endless path will soon move. Mallice might represent an abusive parent, and Skulk obviously represents the fear of being followed by something when you're all alone.
Obviously this is a lot of headcanons, but this concept is just so fascinating, I can't help but overthink it a bit.
@@failbuster6468 I love the idea that *it’s alive and it knows we are here…*
Well fuck. The Infinite Tunnel reincarnated into an outside path. I’m gonna hate going through this nightmare...
Yep but it has another story.
I found this place by complete accident and when shit started getting weird it scared the crap out of me. Definitely wasn’t expecting this outta this game lmao
Didn't you play the Infinite Tunnel in Yo-Kai Watch 2 before?
@@pokeboi2008 you’d be surprised at my ability to miss completely in-your-face things in videogames
@@r34dood Ah. You know I also discovered Hazy Lane by hasard lol
I just discovered infinite tunnel in yo kai watch 2 and oh boy I wasn't expecting it at all haha... I've never seen gameplay to that game before, so it was a huge shocker
I think it's really interesting how the voices were gone from the English localization, but they localized some of them for the Spanish one
I don't think all voices were gone... I entered Hazy Lane today and just as I did, someone said "thank for using our service"
Actually, the "International" version is the theme without voice, and the "JP" one is the same but with Japanese voice included.
*Infinite Tunnel :*
Scary - strange - dark
*Hazy Lane :*
Day became night in 3 minutes - welcome to the rize fields motherfu~ - siren head sound at 0:38 (this is also the voice we hear in the game when you enter the Hazy Lane)
0:38 THATS LITERALLY THE SIREN HEAD SOUND EFFECT, YOU CANT TELL ME ITS NOT
(I know this came out before Siren Head blew up, but the noise was still on the internet before that, Siren Head was the only recognizable example)
It sounded more like if the beat was being toned down.
Also, I'm pretty sure that sound came from a video about siren noises echoing during a tornado in Chicago or something?? I dunno lol. It's basically the affect of the sirens noises echoing and bouncing back to the person's balcony because they were in the sweet spot. It's strange. Though I wouldn't be surprised if yo kai watch used that noise lol, Nintendo did something like that with ocarina of time

“Thanks for traveling with us today folks”
Fun Fact: This track samples a shopping cart rolling over what seems to be asphalt. You can faintly hear it at 0:43!
I think thats supposed to be a train, considering that hazy lane is right next to train station and that the same sound effect plays in the (you guessed it) train.
Also, considering they say something like "the train will be departing soon" or something, maybe "Welcome to Greenfield station" (I can't remember it, but they greet you over a PA like on the trains) it's probably a sound affect used for a train. The sample itself could be a shopping cart on asphalt, but it may just be a stock sound for a train.
@@colonelnoodles871 "thanks for travelling with us today folks" - i dont really use trains but it always made me think of airlines more. but there is also an actual infinite railroad in both the tunnel and hazy lane so yknow
Hazy lane:exists
Me: could this be the work of a enemy stand
is hazy lane a jojo's reference ?
@@siro3904 it's not, it's likely that the infinite desert thing in JJBA and the infinite tunnel both took inspiration from common folklore
@@wolfgangchen7287 it was a joke bro...
Stand name: *《HAZY LANE》*
Stand User: *《MOODY MARY》*
@@spidey5558 I think Moody Mary's stand would be Malice, the boss of the infinite tunnel, since he says he is a manifestation of her fear. Hazy Lane would most likely be Skulk's stand. Or Mary has 2 stands.
I’ll never forget that time I got jumpscared by some Japanese performers, and turned into one of them.
yoo the nod to the infinite tunnel theme near the end
3:32 is just…MWAH
Hazy Lane is weird and scary and a little wacky but when you hear the infinite tunnel motif OH MY-THATS SO GOOD.
It’s the songs way of saying “something familiar lurked here. Good luck”
*Beats Skulk, expects reward*
*Sees that there’s a reward for doing this thing 8 times after fighting Skulk*
“I’m not really feeling it…”
Fr?Whats the reward
I remember on my Japanese copy of the game pushing the hazy lane to over 400k meters. That one trip took 13 days of real time and I had intentions of seeing just how far one could go before the game would not let you go any further. I never did get my answer as not long after that trip to the hazy lane, I grew out of the franchise. At least I tried.
Edit: I have since found my Japanese copy to verify the number and long story short, this comment is a lie. According to my records page, the furthest I actually traversed hazy lane was 284,724m.
That place was the the embodiment of restlessness.
is it just me or does this sound like something david wise would compose
Who?
@@jmsochannel The guy who composed the Donkey Kong country music I'm Pretty sure.
It does kinda give me Donkey Kong country vibes
Where's the "thank for using our service" voice? I entered Hazy Lane today and heard someone say that
It counts as a "sound effect", not as "music". So it isn't heard in this video.
@@MiyuKawasaki The weirdest thing is that the JP version of the song is exactly the same but with the Japanese voice.
1:57 These trumpets are very similar to the ones used in Vs. Inu Tokumentai from Y School Heroes
1:18 😬 scary
Scary is at 2:49 too
genuinely the best part
one word:
*SKULK*
I still don’t get all the stuff with Moody Marry, why does Mallice want to get her? Why does she appear in long and eerie places like Hazy Lane and the Infinite Tunnel?
In Yokai watch 3 the tunnel is closed off because of a “monster coming out of it to attack harrisville” so what I think happened is that, after the tunnel was closed down, it reappeared in greenfields station as another anomaly in the land. I dont get what could connect mallice and skulk though, maybe they are related to Moody Mary, and how she became the weird Yokai/spirit she is
@Breaktime Timber shulk 😭
@@cedriccox9480The monster is actually Umbral Enma suggesting the tunnel could lead to other dimensions
Mallice was made by Moody Mary because of her loneliness, and it was also made by her nightmares
