That’s an excellent video. After watching many other videos that did not make sense I did the way that made sense to me. Your video confirmed that my way was correct. It made me feel more confident in my approach and now I don’t have to wonder if I did it right. I am a DiYER and I am happy that I don’t have to wonder if my work is going to fall apart in the upcoming years. Thank you!

Thanks for the video! Really one of the few things i cant / or really havent done is drywall, so you videoa are really helpful thank you. ...One thing i do know from when we built our house is, the reason your bull nose didnt come all the way down on that corner you showed us, because that where the bottom trim butts together. We used bull nose in our house. Love it ! But it wouldnt hurt to sand or scuff it up a lil before you mud it. We have some chips hear and there. Thanks for the help!

Thanks donnell 688 the comment on the drywall being back 1/2" was magic, as it allows the bullnose to lay flat to the wall. I used a dermal to cut my back after having attached it to the wall flush with the walls. This is a great video very well done if you have not done arch corner bead on an arch before the Trim-Tex 847 Adhesive is a must, don't try to mud or staple it to the wall which is a lot of work, which I did with my first arch.

I couldn't find anyone who had done knockdown on double bullnose archway. So I went ahead. With a cheap texture spray gun. Sprayed, let dry about 15-20 minutes, and then did knockdown with knife and round wipe off knife. There was no ridge or seam. Looks great! Hopper fell apart during spraying. Suggestion, rent a sprayer with hopper separated by hoses and then have someone keep hopper full so a more even spray, none stop!! Then you don't have to rotate hopper and connecting pipe. I hear the new cheap sprayers has a rotating nosal for ceiling and walls.

I appreciate your detailed comments and demonstrations. My questions are: What do you recommend for mud in each stage? Do you mix your own? I like the Easy-Sand 90 best and use it for most stages from first layer on the bead to the final skim coats. Also, do you like sponge sanders for the curves? How do I sand this without removing too much from the little seams? Does sanding mess up the corner bead too much?

I'm finishing my basement and I'm in the stage of getting mud tape and texture bids. One contractor said he attaches the rounded corner bead with staples and a contractor that came out today said he uses mud and tape over the seam, no staples, to keep it from cracking down the road.
What of the two would you use or would you get another bid. I really like your work which is why I'm asking you. What is a reasonable price for a 1,000 sq ft basement, 90 sheets of drywall? I wish you were in Colorado and I could hire you because you do such nice work. Great video.

i Prefer metal with paper attached if they are straight corners . You need the plastic if you are doing an arch like this.
As for cost it is hard to say , as prices are different everywhere.

Now remember everyone the glue is for the plastic bullnose corners not the paper bullnose where you would apply the mud on the wall before applying the bullnose to the wall. Some may confuse that.

Great video Shannon, however when you applied the rigid bull nose you just started pushing in the bead right away instead of quickly checking on both sides up and down if you had a raised lip or not to mud against. Always an important thing to do and should never be overlooked, especially with the glue method since after a few minutes it's stuck.

Shannon, any tips on installing bullnose when you have two pieces that meet on a 90 degree angle? I have a closet in my basement that I'm in the process of finishing, I've decided to do sliding barn style doors on it so I want the sides/top of the opening finished like the rest of the room. The sides will meet the top of the opening at 90 degrees. Or maybe there is not much to it, just thinking about it in my head I feel like there will be a small area at the corner if you just push them together that will be void of any bead...

    • @HouseImprovements

pennyann smith No just apply mud to both sides of the drywall corner, cut the corner bead to length (actually 1/2" smaller) place the bead against the mudded corner and tight to the ceiling . Press it firmly in place all the way along its length. Wipe the excess mud off. apply more coats over the bead as they dry and then sand smooth.
