"Who the fuck are you?"
Someone you gonna love
I like how you can see in Thorfinn's dialogue, that he can't even fathom the concept of Askeladd dying. He has seen him slaughter people, survive hundreds of battles and has even failed who knows how many duels to kill him, yet Askeladd never even showed signs of death. But now ''Die? You? Don't Be Ridiclous!'' shows, that the very idea of Askeladd dying was never a concept. Almost like he wanted to kill him, but the idea that he would be no more was completely separate. How important it is to the narrative, I'm not sure, but its just those character details that I find fascinating in a well written story like Vinland Saga.
My exact thoughts he cant even imagine askeladd, a true survivor, dying
And to think askeladd actually cares about thorfinn to tell him to move on and follow thors' path in his final moment..Absolute GOAT of a villain, the king🔥🔥🔥
Askeladd death scene never fails to make me cry
That makes one of us.
Askeladd was a real one. One of the best characters ever written.
the fact that he knew askeladd longer than he knew his own father is crazy. six-ish years on earth with thors, eleven with askeladd.
I'd have to check in the notes, but Vinland is indeed Canada. Specifically either Newfound Land or New Brunswick if I recall correctly. Welcome to the End of the Prologue (I was stunned when I first read that chapter title)
Askeladd 🐐
The journey begins now 🛶
Askeladd realize from a long time that he's nothing but a viking, regardless of why he does what he did he understood fully well imo. He's a tragic character that was stuck in the cycle of violence he's looked down on. That's why regardless of his wisdom he'll never sees himself as a king to bring peace to the world the way he sees Thors and Canute might be able to. He's willing to make his name as the 'king slayer' and a traitor in history in order for someone he sees capable becoming a leader in the violent world for a better place, just like his mother wanted Artorius to be
Thorfinn lost his second dad here. Askeladd raised him the only way that thorfinn would survive in the world around them.
“I’m King Arthur. Fuck you I choose both.” RIP to the realest.
Not gonna lie, this show had a profound effect on me. Can't wait to see your reaction to season 2!
RIP Askeladd, the GOAT
Can’t wait for season 2, your reactions to season 1 were great 😌
Canute's brother is in Denmark right now, he wasn't part of the invasion of England.
21:52 He literally said he's the legendary King Arthur A.K.A Lucius Artorius Castus!...Since Askeladd lineage can be traced back to him!...Bone Chilling!.
Askeladd was apart of one of the most brutal parts of human history. You couldn't afford to be soft hearted and expect to live a long life by being passive. I think the average life in that Era in time was maybe 30 years old, the cruel one were the pthat lived longer than that, survival of the fittest. No different when a lion takes down a baby water buffalo, it's doing what has to do to survive. Prior to the 1900s we only had about 1billion people on earth, now we have 8 billion in a little over a 100 years. Think about that.
He's a product of his time
The actual lifespan of people wasn't much lower than today, there was just a way way higher infant and child mortality rate due to the lack of modern medicine, so if you made it past childhood you actually had a fairly decent chance of living to be middle aged or elderly. The average lifespan isn't a good metric for judging how long people lived because it gets massively skewed downward if there is a high rate of death in childhood or in infancy. Additionally I wouldn't consider this time to be one of the most brutal parts of human history, it wasn't really any more or less brutal than most other periods in human history, pop culture just tends to skew it that way because it's more entertaining. Later periods like the Age of Enlightenment and Industrial Revolutions, were, in fact, many orders of magnitude more brutal, with the advent of more modern professional armies, new weapons, the Atlantic Slave Trade, and colonialism, etc..
And now you're done with the PROLOGUE WEEEEEE
Askeladd The Crownless King
For a lot of people askeladd is the best character of vinland saga and i am agreed with that
You're gunna love season two
Btw the manga allows for at least 4 seasons. Possibly 5.
Askeladd my GOAT fr 🐐
Sorry it just made me laugh when Leif called himself a seaman in this sub, mine said sailor
I feel that the unofficial sub was better.
Cant wait for you to start S2! Even better than S1 IMO
U can also check Dororo , Demon Slayer
faroh reacts i can't see your reply from my previous comment
It was a bot
@farohreacts oh ok gotcha
This is my biggest issue with the ending. If you´ve read the manga you´re hyped for the new characters, if you didnt read it (Which i handnt at the time) you´re like "Who tf is this, whats going on???"
Meh
I suggest you watch hunter x hunter It's a great show
Your continuous hate/mixed feelings for Askeladd made you underestimate his character, which is a testament of the shows great writing, cuz even when it seemed that he was out of character (i.e. the throne room scene) it was all a ruse cuz he was very much in character (a tactful and calculating man) and as a lover of the show and fan of Askeladd it was annoying to watch you constantly berate him but I can appreciate that you at least aknowledged him in the end cuz he is an amazing character
He’s a complex character that isn’t meant to be liked. He’s supposed to be morally gray but mostly morally evil, so it makes sense to dislike him, which tbh I still do. He’s a great character that I can like admire the character of, but as a person I dislike him
@@farohreacts No, it doesn't and your personality and videos are honestly nothing special 🤷♂️
