HINT: Before wrapping the meat in the lumpia wrappers, make a small patty and cook it in a small pan and check its flavor. That way you won't have regrets.
TIPS: 1. After mixing everything, cook a spoonful of lumpia mixture in a skillet. Taste and adjust accordingly then proceed to wrapping. 2. It’s important to keep the wrappers covered with a damp cloth to keep them pliable. 3. Always fry the lumpia seam-side down to keep the filling intact.
I had a friend from the Philippines that use to make Lumpia for me. I'd ask her to make me (her name was Mercidita, but we called her Mercy) 150 lumpia and I'd pay her for them lol. They were the best food I'd ever tasted. I love lumpia, and I'd like to try to make them myself.
Karen Lovett lumpia is the BEST!! Yeah when you make them be sure to make a LOT cause they go fast hahaha. Make sure to freeze them separately so they don’t stick together. They become one large brick of you stack them in a bag and freeze them all at once.
I was introduced to lumpia at a fairly young age because my dad was in the service. A lot of the filipino moms would make large batches of lumpia and sell them. I fell in love with lumpia on the first bite. I remember one time my father and I labored in the kitchen all day making lumpia ourselves. We both agreed it was easier to buy them rather than making it ourselves. 😂 My two other favorites are pancit and chicken adobo. Yummy! 🎉
Im full filipino and I used to live in California and Now that I've been out of California I can't find filipino food. So I make it myself and I've made filipino dishes for my filipino friends
Thanks so much for your content and sharing your mom's recipe. Where my husband and I work we have an extended Fil-Am family. We are so honored to know, love and experience such kindness.
I' really excited to find this recipe. I ate this all the time in 79-86 while Stationed in Subic Bay and then our mess cooks wife would make it for us. It was my favorite meal and have not had it in 37 years. But now I can make my own. THANK YOU
Omg! I have been looking for this for over 31 years. When I lived in Sinop Turkey I met a German lady and she made these for me and To this day I have never tasted anthing like it. So thank you so much. This was one of the greatest memories of my life in Turkey. Many blessings. Stay inspired! 😁😇💓 Thanks for sharing!
I'm thankful he mentioned the low sodium soy sauce, really important for a good cooking video because it's easy to get the types of soy confused and you'll ruin a dish with too much salt!
I was introduced to lumpia in my hometown in Alaska where we had a large Filipino community. We used to make lumpia for school fundraisers. But most of ours were veggie and the veggies were just chopped thin. Once in a while we’d add ground pork.
Joanna Mallory nice. Yeah I think the egg is more to bind everything together. Did you season the veggies at all? I mean add any sort of liquid? I’m interested in making some veggie lumpia next but mine always come out dry.
Philip Lemoine honestly there was some moisture in the carrots, but other than some garlic and pepper...no. We put all the ingredients in a bowl and mixed them... then put them into the VERY thin wrappers and fried them. Always sold a ton of them though!
A local Filipino restaurant on my commute home made two types of lumpia. They had the veggie type similar to spring rolls and this type, but with maybe a small pinch of well crushed red pepper flakes, which they called Shanghai lumpia. They served them with a ginger/teriyaki sauce.
A lot of common recipe they use in Guam is just strained cook ground beef not really pork in it... bean sprouts, cabbage, some rice noodles, and carrots those are the main ingredients...
I want to thank you for sharing your mother's recipe with us! I made this for my son's co-workers. I received so many compliments and, was asked to make it again! Thanks again, peace blessings and love 😘 BTW your fur baby's adorable 😍
I had a friend, Neri, who introduced me to Lumpia, She passed several years ago and I have been wanting to make them so I found your recipe and made them. They were delicious and my family loved them too.
I store my lumpia in the bags that the wraps come in! You can store a LOT in each bag and just put a rubber band around them. After they are fried, the bags get used to hold compost scraps or trash..
My mom worked as a nurse around a large Filipino community and they always gifted her with these .. I too work with a large group of Filipino community and I as well enjoy their food .. but I will try this .. no ginger?
Prior to combining vegetable components with meat, I place minced vegetables on to cheese cloth and squeeze/remove liquids. Removing liquids makes for a crisper lumpia especially if it's left sitting prior to service,
I spent 2 years in the Philippines many years ago and had a recipe from my maid. I made it for dinner guests after I returned to the states and all just read about it. I lost my recipe years ago and so happy I found your show. I think that I used to put cabbage in it. If I add cabbage to the food processor would this make the mixture too moist? So looking forward to making Lumpia soon. Thanks. Your ideas will make it so much easier to make.
Totally love your recipes. I knew you had to be a local when I saw the sugars in your cookie video. My kids loved it, and had no idea that I used almond flour. For lumpia I also sneak in spinach or celery, whatever I have on hand. Freeze them and kids can throw it in the air fryer. I also encourage and support zero/low waste! Keep up the awesome work!!!
I have made lumpia before when an Asian friend taught me how. We used ground chicken, jicama, and other veggies. So delicious. I love your recipe and will make it soon. Now I actually know how to wrap the lumpia correctly. So informative. I am looking forward to trying other interesting recipes you mentioned. My little grandsons LOVES mac and cheese so I know he would love that kind.
I have a sister in law that is pino and she knows my absolute favorite food is Lumpia with sweet chili sauce to dip it in. Unfortunately I moved 2000 miles away so I don't get them anymore but I am trying to find the wrap so I can make them myself. My other favorite food is Chicken or pork adobo, so good
I am a Filipino. My son loves lumpia and I always cook it for him, though I never tried combining ground pork and beef. Will try to do that next time. Thank you for the video.

I love your video, I cook & shred my chicken first . And sauté my carrots ,bean sprouts, onion. Then add my chicken to my veggies and add my all my spices & soy sauce , then I roll and fry 8 at a time . We don’t like soggy lumpia’s 😋
You can taste it before it's cooked. Just put 1/2 tsp. drop of it in a frying pan and cook it. That way you can taste the seasoning. Also, I cook the all of the filling a little until the meat is done, let it cool and then put it in the wrapper and deep fry for 5 min. That way you don't have to worry about uncooked meat.

Many thanks, never heard of Lumpier but could I suggest for safety reasons you use a 3 L deep fat fryer very very cost-effective and this doesn’t allow overheating of the oil and keeps it regulated many thanks
I can so relate to taking that first crunchy, hot bite and burning my tongue and mouth. But so delicious. My personal favorite dipping sauce is garlic and vinegar Masarup. Salamat
I make mine shanghai with vietnamese cha gio and use a pastry bag to pipe the filling onto the wrapper. They don't reach the frezzer when I make them with friends around-)
Oh wow my mom taught me completely different, we make the meat mixture with no egg in a pan and then put that filling in the wrapper, then we fry it immediately just to cook the outside only

Just wondering what type of oil do you use ?
I nearly died laughing at the end. If you have never bitten into a hot lumpia you don't know what you are missing. My step mom would laugh at me everytime I would do that. And the cat in the video made me smile.
LOL, tonight I made spring rolls which came out amazing, but I wanted to watch you roll up your wraps. I made a big boo boo though, I see you cannot leave the wraps out too long once thawed, because they'll become hard. Most of them were still soft, but I had to roll them up fast! Not as neat and perfect as yours, but I was rushing so the wraps wouldn't turn completely hard. 😂 They came out tasting amazing though. I also made Garlic chicken with stir fry veggies, and egg fried rice. Family loved it!
Lumpia wrapping is bonding time with my mother. We roll, we chat, with TFC in the background. Take your sweet time: use a moist dish towel over the wrappers to prevent dryness that will lead to hardness.
Old poke container? Das how! Grew up using butter containers and such and I still do!! btw, Mahalo for the recipe, I making this recipe for thanksgiving side dish! Mahalo!

did you add garlic bec lots of garlic makes it even tastier? i do not use carrots in my lumpia i use chestnut and my family always tell me that my lumpia is the best which is really the best lumpia here in toronto no one can beat it
I used to save them too...until I found a local restaurant supply store near me😆😆😆 Now I have two boxes full with different sizes, etc.... When family or friends come over for dinner, I pack left over food in the containers for them to take home.
Mine recipe is similar , I use prepared garlic from a jar , I shred my carrots with a hand shredder but yours came out nice , I hand chop my onion and dry on a paper towel to get rid of the extra juice and then add onion powder too , oh and white pepper like 2 tablespoons . I also let my mixture rest in the refrigerator for at least 24 hours before rolling. I like mine a little fatty so I use 2 pounds ground pork and 1 pound 80/20 .
Wow Fantastic! I have been really enjoying all of your videos! I’ll definitely have to give this a try. I love the presentation of your video. You make it look easy! I also make cooking videos for UA-cam. I love to learn from talented creators like you!

Yes i notice that too Helen God bless keep it comin'
It’s unsanitary
I always fry a little of the meat mixture before I roll them so I know what the meat will taste like and season it correctly

I wouldn't know. When we try corn tortillas wrapped around chicken it's open on both ends so your sure it cooks but seasoning is always by look.

Adding crushed garlic to that dip might be more delicious if you like garlic 😋

When family or friends come over for dinner, I pack left over food in the containers for them to take home.
Learned a lot from you, love your cat and most of all,all your cooking techniques and saving old containers and plastics.
I love how you said don’t double the garlic! If you know, you know. ❤
I usually cooked a tea spoon of filling in the microwave, just to tasted the salt leve before rolled up the lumpia.
Looks like you have a helper up there. Ya know, cats love lumpia too. So cute!
Yummy 😋 making lumpia’s for Christmas dinner 🍽️
Mine recipe is similar , I use prepared garlic from a jar , I shred my carrots with a hand shredder but yours came out nice , I hand chop my onion and dry on a paper towel to get rid of the extra juice and then add onion powder too , oh and white pepper like 2 tablespoons . I also let my mixture rest in the refrigerator for at least 24 hours before rolling. I like mine a little fatty so I use 2 pounds ground pork and 1 pound 80/20 .
This is what I'm trying to make right now. It's not gonna be exactly like yours but i hope it turns out well.
Wow Fantastic! I have been really enjoying all of your videos! I’ll definitely have to give this a try. I love the presentation of your video. You make it look easy! I also make cooking videos for UA-cam. I love to learn from talented creators like you!
