Jay and Mike are here to chat about one of our favorite decks in Star Wars: Unlimited, Sabine Yellow! This serves as an update to our original deck guide before the game released, and we think this deck still SLAPS! This one is definitely worth checking out and getting to the table! Let us know what you think about the deck in the comments below & subscribe for more deck guides and tons of other SWU content!
I could be wrong b/c I'm new to the hobby and I don't watch every channel out there, but y'all breaking down a meta deck/idea, and explaining the reasons behind runs, cards to play etc. is very nice and helpful to learning that level of gameplay.
I took this to my locals last night and went 3-0. Spark of Rebellion was clutch in both of my games against Boba Green (30hp) and I ripped a 7 cost Han out of the Solo player's hand on the turn that Han flipped. I was also happy with the Jetha city base. I was able to use it in every game which included a free Falcon trade. The one game I lost it was because I had a horrible start and by round 5 I only had 1 damage on their base. I need to get more games in with it but it is definitely something I'm considering taking to showdown this month. I had a great time last night. Thanks for sharing this.
Round 1 vs Han Blue (30HP) won 2-1
Round 2: Bye
Round 3: vs Boba Green (30HP) won 2-0
11 player tournament. Shared 1st with a Iden ECL deck.
Love this level of detail and it’s interesting to not just hear a 17th explanation of the same popular deck but a unique approach. Given I have two falcons the deck also is financially approachable to build with only a few misc cards missing. Can’t wait to try.
Idk how these decks win against the mid range hero decks. But I love how you explained your decisions for newer players.
I've been running something similar but with Cassian leader. I just like the card draw and saboteur key text.
Is Rogue Operative too slow in this? What about the R2 shift in aggro now? I'm just not the hugest fan of Rebel Pathfinder (even-though I know its decent).
It was cool meeting Jay at the 5k, wish I would of gotten to play this list with my Sabine green
Great to meet you too!
I love this. Testing asap.
With the prominance of Boba Yellow, how does this match up to that?
Was testing this deck against Leia red and Sabine green. 20 games 12/8 w/l against Leia and 7/15 against green Sabine. What kills this deck against G Sabine is usually turn 4 and ECL with Steadfast Batalion especially effective when Sabine Leader is still alive. Multiple times I could feel im much slower then GS in damage.
Green Sabine is the toughest matchup for sure, there are lines that can get you there but it can be difficult. If they’re not ecl’ing until turn 4 that’s prob good news for us tho since it means our units get to deal more damage in the early turns. Then it’s all about closing it out with the reach.
I know Millennium Falcon is the most important card of the deck, but what could I use in its place? I have everything else. I’ve been playing Sabine ECL and it can’t hang with Blue Boba or Boba ECL. Nobody runs double yellow boba in my local area so no worries there.
I main a Chirrut deck, would love to test it against this sometime in TTS!
i was playing red han today and i closed out 2 games by overwriting falcons after they took initative
I like Rogue Operative more than Ezra in this deck. And there is a case to be made Cassian is better than Sabine as well. Even though he comes out 2 turns later his Saboteur and 6 toughness is big.
Been working on a Sabine/Cunning deck. I'll have to to make some adjustments.
@LiterallyUnplayable won a store showdown with this lists, thank you !
Let’s goooooo!
Was awesome meeting you Jay at the 5k! (Was the Vader Green deck that talked to you a bit and made top 8) How'd you feel about Jedha over the 30 hp base at the 5k?
Good to meet you too dude! I am still a Jehda truther :D
Especially with childsen being so prominent.
@@LiterallyUnplayable Fair enough, especially with your argument regarding the 25/30 hp base for aggro being irrelevant as if you haven't won by the time your hp matters you're losing anyways.
Looks super good! I’m definitely going to try this out before an upcoming 1K. Are you still ticking damage with Sabine’s ability each turn?
Only when you can't claim initiative
Yeah I’d second what Frank is saying, however since I’m running Jehda, against another aggro deck running a 30 hp base I don’t use the ping. I.e. red Leia 30. It’s better to just set up a claim and pump to win.
Great video thanks! 💪🏻
Just one thing: “one green Squadron awing is not the card you want to play on turn1 because seventh fleet Defender with ecl gets to swing in, it takes only one damage back so survives with one Health and then also gets to keep its Shield”
Can’t understand what you are saying. Fleet defender with ecl looses its shield anyway, vs awing or xwing… it survives full health in both cases so it’s really the same for cleaning with the falcon. Also if they ECL the starviper it doesn’t change anything because it survives against both wings. Having 1 or 2 health left doesn’t change at all since you still have to kill it with falcon. I am missing something?
Because shielded and ambush actually happen during the same timing window, you can order them however you want. So if you ecl your seventh fleet defender into an a-wing, you can choose to ambush first and shield after it survives the hit with 1hp
Damn, never heard that, thanks! Never saw it neither… thanks so much!
Why no sneak attack? You were joking about it at the end of the video, I guess you don’t like it ;)
@BotaFaCose sneak attack is cool, but didn’t feel great in this version of the deck to us
@@LiterallyUnplayable thanks for answering again. Keep on rocking
❤️
I played this version already two weeks ago with only one different card. I won most games other than control iden. I just couldn’t figure out what to do. Other than that I love this deck and it is really the best version of sabine
Big fan of just trying to go wide againt Iden and other control decks. There are a lot of cases where 2 2 costs instead of a 4 drop is better to split where damage is coming from!
Green Iden can sometimes be tough, honestly the win con is playing Spark on 5 so you can rip vigilance.
Don't have a single copy of either Falcon and SoR. Guess I'll stick with Sabine/Command
nothing wrong with that, it’s a great deck!
Strafing gunship is a "decent" replacement for Falcon. But I don't think there are any good replacements for SoR 🤔🤔
How does ECL seventh fleet keep shield after defeating A wing?
Ambush and shielded happen in the same timing window so you can choose the order they resolve in
Do you have a decent replacement for the Millenium in this deck or is it impossible to replace?
Falcon is a huge reason you play this deck, so if you don’t have Falcons then I’d not recommend playing this list.
@@LiterallyUnplayable Thanks for the fast reply, I'll stick with my Vader Blue for now. I'll come back to this deck when singles' prices lower.
Guess my tyranny as krennic green at my local premier is over 😭
You think this deck would do good against Vader blue? I mean anything that can beat Vader and boba is gonna get attention
There’s a section about that matchup in the video! This deck is favored for sure!
@@LiterallyUnplayableright right right i watched it. I guess what i meant is like do you have your score against those decks in tourneys and such? Cause I played a super similar deck but played it Cass. Loved it it just struggled to finish out against tempo. But that's where sabine prick comes into play right? I also used the sneak attack with Fleet/Star Wing/k2 combo to help me finsih. It can be great 5 insta base damage with a fleet or at least 3 with k2.
@scottnicholas4435 yeah sneak attack is a cool option and something worth considering. I think the Sabine yellow into Vader red matchup is probably like 60/40 in Sabine’s favor and then like 70/30 after you bring in bamboozle from the sideboard
@@LiterallyUnplayable ya sneaking in a fleet to attack with itself turn one. Chef kiss lol. I only ever did that against boba so I could get the damage and not have a unit for them to laser tech into
So i've been competing in casual local tournaments for about a month. I've gotten 2nd place three times! Argh! I've run Krennic Green and Boba yellow. Lost to Vader Blue, Sabine, and Vader Green. Should I switch to Sabine? Tips for winning those local tournaments?
Hey second place 3 times sounds like you’ve done pretty well! Join our discord and we can talk strategy tips in there! 🫡
Really want to try this deck! Curious to hear why no Rogue Operative? Seems like a great fit here
Generally, I’d rather play Ezra. I think he brings more value to the table than rogue operative. ECL is pretty big in the meta too, so not having 3 power feels real bad on the ground.
There are right about alot of this deck, but 3 rogue operators go in and zero Ezras
@@frankwmyers Rogue Op only deals 2 damage when it's being ECL'd, which is really bad.
@@lightgames7474 lol. PLEASE ecl my rogue operative
13:37 I don’t understand your mistake against Bobby Sapphire. You said you should have deployed Falcon first but wouldn’t he still ECL the viper to kill the x-wing and then you would have missed 2 damage and then need to hit the viper with Falcon anyways. Am I missing something?
If you’re going first, the better line would be to attack with X-wing, then they ecl into your X-wing, then you play falcon, jedha their starviper and kill it. In the example, fleet lieutenant + x-wing dealt 5, but the startviper was easily able to deal with the X-wing and threaten to start healing as well
Cunning Sabine is my aggro to-go 👌🏻
Go to?
@@antharper11 The one aggro deck I wanna play ;)
@@antharper11 go-to you're right haha!
I need a honest opinion, so I’m currently a Lorcana player and I am very interested in SWU but I can only afford to play one. I do enjoy Lorcana but it’s been 3 sets and the meta has stayed the same because red/purple and yellow/grey have literally been the meta since set one. I know SWU is new but does it have similar problems or is it better than Lorcana?
We still enjoy Lorcana, but In our opinion, SWU is a much better competitive experience than Lorcana
I@@LiterallyUnplayableI second this lorcana is stale and gameplay is boring to me
I started with Lorcana as my first TCG, I stopped at the release of set 2. I love SWU and don't personally miss Lorcana at all.
@@BluesFan1618 I agree with you. Same decks winning with mirror match yawn 🥱 games dead
@@TruongMtgArenaHearthstone03 that what my original dislike was too! Lorcana has been out for a while and literally the meta has been the same since set one because of how broken ruby is 😭
What about Sabine’s ability? Are you always using it on all turns?
Usually only on rounds where you won’t have initiative going into the next round. Initiative is usually more important
Very nuanced question to be honest. Against most decks you will ping in situations it makes sense like Mike suggested. Don’t ping if it means you lose out on taking initiative. However, against other aggro decks it’s a much harder decision, and if you’re playing against an aggro deck with a 30 hp base, don’t ping at all. Set up a situation where you can claim and use a pump for the win.
If you want to make a rush deck then make a rush deck. If you want to make a control deck then make a control deck. Trying to do both just ensures that it will fail against other better constructed decks that don't have an identity crisis. Jedha City in a Sabine deck? You're handicapping yourself with that.
We'd strongly suggest trying it, as mentioned in the video, you can often use it to push extra damage in a game that you wouldn't otherwise be able to
@@LiterallyUnplayable You can push extra damage against units, something that shouldn't concern a rush deck that much. Certainly not enough to spot your opponent 5 health. I'm guessing it's inclusion assumes your opponent is using something it can counter, but try this deck against another rush deck using a 30 health base. You'll rethink using it pretty fast then. A deck that gives you an edge against some decks while being at a massive disadvantage against others is poorly constructed.
Been playing a yellow sabine aggro for a good while now. Jehda city is literally the worst rare base out right now. The -4-0 takes an action which you should be using to attack. In the mirror it's -5 hp which is needed. Spark in the main I just disagree with as you only want it against control and it's only being played on turns 3+ if you have extra resources or the turn before a SLB or Avenger could come out
@doomfunk have you ever tried it? I’ve used the epic action on Boba and Vader for immense results. blowing up vader or boba in one turn AND keeping your board status is enormous. think about how much value boba gets from completing an attack, but as a response to him coming out and before he attacks he gets -4, meaning the only attack he can complete for value is on base, which he doesn’t want to do. its -4 anyway, so in all honesty its 29 health, but it also FARTS on overwhelming barrage. use your brain and it becomes a decent base with far more value than the 1 health
@uncanny-v can't target leaders with jedha, unless you mean boba unit but it doesn't read like that
I hope everyone that plays this game watches this video and plays this deck. I will never lose another game in a tournament. Why would anyone give up 5 health in an aggro deck. You literally say "this is your standard burn deck, you want to get them as low as possible as fast as possible". Yet you have a base that takes away 5 health and is ONLY there to swing at units.
If you don’t have to swing at any units in a given game, you’re probably winning that game anyway and didn’t need the extra 5hp. Sometimes you can’t get around sentinel or can put your opponent in an awkward spot by killing one of their units for “free”
@@LiterallyUnplayable But it's not free is it? You have to use an action for it's use. So if there were a card that allowed you to give a unit -4/-0 and trade 5 health for that at 0 cost you would main board this?
@@jkajakp comparing a bases epic action that is available at any time to slotting a card in your deck doesn’t make sense.
@@LiterallyUnplayable If we're talking about things that don't make sense, Spark of Rebellion in a rush deck, Frosted tips on an adult not in the 90's or isn't named Guy Fieri and JEDHA CITY in a Sabine deck.
@@jkajakp You came to watch their video, and you're out here insulting and talking about whats right? Go make a channel you seem to be a handsome tournament end boss.
Jedha is such a waste of an action
