This is brilliant! I was making a pincushion for a friend from a one-of-a-kind vintage handkerchief. I used a hot iron and made a crispy dark brown scorch mark on it. I ran to my laptop and found your demo. Literally 15 seconds following your instructions, and I can't see anything but pure white again. Thank you! (Wish I could add before and after photos.)
Had to come & say this is one of my favorite videos EVER because of how you showed us how you burned it & fixed it! I just did it on a shirt I burned at work today & it WORKED BRILLIANTLY!!!
I just bought an expensive all cotton shirt and I scoured it in two minutes, looked up your channel and took your advice and it worked ! Thank you so much! I’m happy now that my money wasn’t wasted!
Thank you so much! I am a quilter and was working on my last border which is 70" X 10". It has special machine stitches to quilt it and I had appliqued down a vine and leaves. I was just starting to iron down my flowers and got a big scorch. I was sick! I didn't know there was any way to fix a scorch and I don't have enough fabric to remake it. Thank goodness for UA-cam and people like you. My scorch mark is completely gone. I will wash the entire quilt after it is finished
I tried this on my tan colored cashmere sweater (I scorched it while ironing on a repair patch) and it worked - I can’t even tell which arm it was anymore!! Saved my nice sweater! Thank you!
Came here bcause i scortched a tshirt i was ddesigning on...this is too good to be true it realy works...in less thn 2 mins allll marks were gone...thnk for sharing
I would say, as someone who works in men's wear (and sometimes has to get blood or sweat stains out of customer's clothing), the key elements are a) the strength of solution (your hydrogen peroxide can absolutely be too concentrated) and b) length of exposure. Another critical point is treating the scorched area as quickly as possible. So leaving it for more than a few hours is going to limit your success. In those cases, sometimes we'll soak the entire area in diluted white vinegar to break down the fibres. This will soften them enough for the actual lightening process to work more effectively.
@nolankuffner3573 -Since I am new to all of this DIY clothing repair and sewing, will you please give me specific measurements for white vinegar dilution? Is it half and half? If anyone can answer this question for me, I would really appreciate it! Thanks!!
You saved me! I had an event to go to and scorched my new pants! I was devastated and forgot to take a picture! I used the peroxide and a cloth and it removed the scorch! Amazing!
Thank you so much for sharing this amazing idea! It really works 😊 I have an all cotton blue blouse and I’ve just removed two scorch marks from it using this method! I was going to throw the blouse out until I found this post. Amazing!!
I got a hoodie today and I was ironing patches on to it and I got a burn mark and I was so sad but I looked up “how to get rid of iron burn on white fabric” and watched this, did it and the stain literally disappeared, thank you so much like how does that even work
@@mariaroldan4200 I'm so glad. I wish I'd known about this years back, I would have been able to bring several pieces of clothing back from the dead :D
You are amazing! I only iron if I have no other options. I tried steaming a linen table runner and it didn't work so I thought I would iron it. It was going great until the last swipe and a then a lovely scorch mark appeared. I wasn't sure your method would work on linen but did in seconds! You are a magician, my friend and you saved an expensive table runner. Thank you so much. Love from 🇨🇦
Wow! This was great that all burn marks are gone or disappeared. Even I was searching something like this as on my trouser there are three marks. Thanks 😊 for helpful video. 👍
Exceptionally well-made easily understood video. When I change the sheet on my bed; the new sheet is creased aplenty. I rub an iron over the sheet whilst it is on the bed. Oh, I have a slight burn mark on the sheet. Not for long after viewing you video. (UK)
Hi how are you I just want to ask I'm here in South Africa I want to ask how do I what is the name of that chemical that you put the initiate here in South Africa
Thank you so much for this method, I just burned my t-shirt. I'm gonna try it and I can't wait to see the results. Thank you again during this video I'm feeling like that stain gone away now...Hugs
What about removing a shiny mark from using too hot of an iron on 100% polyester? Neither hydrogen peroxide nor vinegar worked. I used an iron on patch to cover a logo on a track suit that I LOVE and now it looks like crap. I don’t think it melted, but it’s also not a stain. Any tips???
Did you ever get a reply to your question. I was just ironing a polyester tablecloth got half way through and wham. Now I have a shiny dark spot on my new tablecloth.
Been watching loads of these videos but you never see any coloured items that scorched having this treatment done does it work because I recently put my sofa bed seat cushion too near my heater it scored it abit has brown kinda stain I want to test this on it would it work tho and advice rely to my question would be great thanks
Just what I was looking for. I slightly scorched the collar of a long sleeve polo, that I really like. I happened to have some hydrogen peroxide at home, so stay tuned. I'll let you know. Thank you...Mark
Hi, my apologies for inquiring 4 years after your post. Would this work on a jacket collar that has been burnt slightly when it was overzealously ironed, in a bid to straighten the collar? Thank you in advance and more power to you
I took my shirt to dry cleaner and only when shirt taken out of plastic cover to use 5days after pickup I found like a burn mark which looks like a rust right along edging near buttons . I’ve tried washing soaking in Bleach then Napisan and damn stain still hasn’t gone totally. Do you think this would also work with this ??
My rayon shirt was burned when ironing, but it was only where water came out of the iron. so i have these weird stains that look like burns everywhere the water touched. Hve you come across this phenomenon before?
Do you have any videos on steamers? My steamer touched the fabric of a shirt and theres a mark. Is it permanently burnt or is there some thing I can do?
Oh my gosh. Sorry I missed your message! We have not tested steamers in depth, yet. We also haven't worked with damage from steamers. Please let me know how it went.
I just very very subtly burned a 100% polyester vest. It is dark gray. Do you think this would work on that type of fabric? I have seen hydrogen, peroxide, bleach, natural fibers. But I have many black, 100% polyester items that I wear to work that seem not to be affected by bleach. I’m a hairdresser. And accidentally get bleach on them all the time.
Hi Sin. First, test a small spot on the inside of the dress with the 3% hydrogen peroxide solution. If the color doesn't fade, then use it on the area of the burn. 3% Hydrogen peroxide has a mild bleaching effect and you don't want to risk fading the colored dress if it is not colorfast.
Was finish a piece of textile art and thought it was ruined when I scorched it.... you saved my life! Thanks!

How does hydrogen peroxide work on coloured fabrics or patterned ones? Concerned that it will bleach the non white areas.
It worked on my husband’s grey woolen sweater.
