Hey Kevin I don’t know much about rc car wheels but on the speed foam wheels why not put a strap around the wheel like they do on rubber one to keep them from blowing out
I agree. I think some properly sized rings could be used to keep traction but contain the expanding foam. Plus, you don't have to wait until you hit the track to test it - you can spin wheels up to speed in the shop. Until you have a tire that holds together at max RPM there is no sense even going back to the track in my opinion!

I havent watched one of your videos in a while, but i need to tell you that you are an inspiration! The way you slowly but surely set your life up to start a motorsports team gives guys like me hope. over the last year ive slowly been gearing my life towards car racing after a lifetime of dreaming about it and im still a long way away from putting a purpose built car on a track. But the fact that you managed to do it in a montser truck that will cost 5x what im aiming to build, is really inspiring.
also many years ago say 10ish, when i was really into rc cars, i could never get one to last more than one jump lol! something else that fascinates me about your videos is how much damage you can seem to put cars through.
*if anyone has an axial exo terra buggy from way back sittin around, id love to buy it from you! so hit me up! i broke a number of parts on mine 10 years ago and cant find one to part out!

Just got my Traxxas 2WD Stampede fixed at the local shop after not playing with it for months! Broke the steering servo and tried replacing it myself... didn't know about the little adapter on it, so it was a simple fix for them. While I was there, they noticed my controller wasn't working right so they gave me a new one free under warranty 😊 Thanks Kevin. Watching your videos is what made buy it last year and coming back to your channel is what made me get it fixed 👍
Awesome vid as always. That is a cracking truck, tough too. It must be the mechanical/fitter in me that was wincing at the sounds it was making though.
You weren't alone...the engineer in me was wincing too lol I do like Kevin's idea of keeping going...eventually it'll stop moving lol.

M2C tough, what a beast on an XRT now. Putting your outcups on your diff and looking down to see your bearing still on the table is always a lovely feeling isn't it.
if it doesnt already exist, maybe an in-air self-right mechanism that automatically adjusts throttle and steering mid-air to descend level (all four wheels) to the ground from a jump.

It seems like every time I see someone get out their XRT that something breaks on it almost immediately. I mean for what it costs that would drive me nuts.
Most people don’t drive and bash theirs this hard though. I’ve had mine for a few months and I drive it more conservatively and haven’t broken a thing. Kevin’s content is purposefully rough because it’s more fun to watch, and it creates content of working on the truck in the shop.
If you leave it stock they hold up great. Any motor bigger than stock shreds the monkey metal driveline. Same with xmaxx
@@based_willI went through 3 rear ring gears in my xrt until I shimmed the hell out of it. Now I can do whatever I want and it's Gucci. I run a fat tp motor which is definitely more powerful than kevs hobbywing motor

That’s a common problem with the m2c extension hubs. My buddy had one that got stuck and I did as well. You need to get a m5(I believe) bolt and thread it into where the set screw goes into the hub. Put the hex in a Vice and now you can beat the bolt with a hammer and it will pop off. After I did this I polished the heck out of the m2c parts to make them fit better

It would be cool to see the XRT with the Raminator tires on it. They may be tall enough for it to run upside down kind of like an old Tyco Rebound.
I know nothing about RC car stuff, but are you controlling them in the air to some extent?
Spinning the wheels and using gyroscopic forces to angle them and twist them for landing?
You can control how they roll forward or backward by braking or accelerating.
Not sure what kind of physics does this, but yeah, if you have relatively heavy tires and a backup of power, you can spin the entire car midair, even multiple times.
If you hunt down some videos about 1/8 buggy racing you can find some really good explanations about air control.
I ran that exact 5687SL motor on 8S on my Kraton 6S EXB for about half a year.. Not violent enough to my taste (yeah right LOL, it broke a steel pinion in half twice!), so I rang TP Power up and they built me a 10kW behemoth upgrade (TP5660) instead.. Is it necessary? Absolutely not. Is it face-meltingly awesome? Heck yeah!

EPIC XRT run Kev 😱. Hoping the Vitavon hardened spiral gears are the solution. Traxxas monkey metal just can't take the heat 😂. It's possible thread lock on the axel grub set screw leaked and bonded the hex to the axel. I've had to heat and pry off the hex from the hub before using a hammer and large flathead screwdriver as a tap. A thin coat of grease on the axel can prevent it from locking up. 🍻

Yep. Even hard aluminum is a soft metal and will weld under stress and heavy loads.

Love all your videos man!! Been a long time fan! I have one question though, I have put the bigger castle motors in my xrt, losi dbxle 2.0 and my kraton 8s all have either 800 kv or 1100kv castle motors in them. I feel like i am not getting all the power with the current gearing i am running in them, and wanted to know what you would run in yours to get the most out of them. Thanks man and hope to hear from you soon!

This idea came from this video but I'm referring to your speed car. Can you try to put most of the weight as much to the center line of your car as possible? I know the motors are. Is there a way to put a second "story" on top of the motors to keep the weight centered? You'd be able to make/use a skinnier body too? I thought I would give you my thoughts on that, was wondering if that was possible? Looking forward to more of your speed runs. Just thinking that if you have more weight over the center line of your car, that you'd put more direct weight onto the front of the car. I'm hoping your found the "cure" for the loss of tread going that fast...lol. I'm not into RC just yet, and you have been a great motivation to start. Thank you for your videos and keep them up. I am hopfully getting my first RC Traxxus Rustler 4x4 today. I'm excited because it's my bday present to me.
Can't believe you stripped the rear diff because the mesh was incorrect, then you just assembled it again without shimming the gears or at least just checking the mesh before you covered it in grease and expected it to just be fine!?
