I’ve listened to this more than 500 times purposefully and not. This track is a college course in how to create a captivating multi-layered track with rich, lush sounds and intricate sound designs. And I keep coming back to it.
" I misspelled everything... should i go back and change it?...Or just let it slide?... Make a lot of mistakes everyday, cant go back to change those... As much as i wish i could...Tomorrow is another chance to do good".
UA-cam recommended this for me 3 years ago when it first came out. I listened and loved the style immediately, and so i downloaded the song to my phone. The whole video that is. Not just the final result but the whole editing process too. I listened to this so much and everyone who heard me playing or listening to it at school was always like "wtf is this experimental music" and people thought I was wierd for liking the editing process more than the actual end product, but I digress. This song was my #1 go to in all of highschool. Its a 15min song that i enjoyed, so just listen to it 3-4 times and bam class is over. I love this video so much and i gotta thank you for making my highschool experience 100X better man. :D
hey man, I just want you to know that I'm not here because you play a niche synth I can't afford and make shitty jokes. maybe the shitty jokes. but seriously, I'm here because since the beginning you've made wildly varied sounds that all still sound good, banged out leads like nobody's business, shown me I don't need to overthink my own music, introduced me to new artists and genres, and entertained me along the way. if you want time for yourself take it, I can't say shit about leaving us for Samoyeds, those cute fluffy bastards. I'd do it too. so cheer up buttercup, we love you
I came here to say this, and then here it was. So, thank you Azithoth, and 100x thank you, Red Means Recording!! Don't get discouraged, man. I love your stuff, even the jokes you apparently hate. I hope you don't feel like you're in a prison, but even if you really do, please tell me where you go when you break out because I wanna be wherever that is.
You know, Jeremy, right after you shared all those thoughts in the video, the worries and the uncertainties , you broke out an amazing synth solo, and it was so intense, so utterly expressive. It made me think that all the disturbing thoughts and all the struggle can just go to hell when one is engaged in performing the magic. And I do feel that same way when I dance or play an instrument. I don't know man, thank you.
Dude you narrating over everything made it way better than just the plan process of making the vid. I laughed so hard at the cow and the vocals. Keep up the great work. Much love from Wisconsin, USA
Hey man , this track made me get into synths and sequencers, I have an op-1 and op-z and an right now sequencing this on Arturia keystep 37. This track alone changed my life … Jeremy you’re incredible.
The name "I need you" is not, as most would suspect, a statement to the significant other in his life, but rather a statement how his fanbase on youtube is not only the source of his income, but the source of his self satisfaction. While he does, in fact, need it, he is also stating that he cannot live without it and is imprisoned by the very thing that sustains him. This is clearly reproduced in the music itself, as the progression follows a pattern that does not resolve to the root of the key, but instead moves to a different chord, representing how he never can find the release of being truly finished with anything, always a slave to the system. This of course, has to be masked in positive melody tones that provide an almost comical presentation to his persona, which clearly shows his presentation of a comedic view of life to his listeners, allowing the cycle to perpetuate indefinitely. My condolences to you and your struggle. Please allow me to share this video to further your dependence upon us all.
I keep coming back to this video as I learn more about the OP-1 to try and decipher what you do and every time I learn something new. Such a masterpiece!
I'm coming back again to listen again. I've watched this a dozen times on top of buying and constantly listening to the EP. Jeremy you bring joy my man. Cheers
The semi-comical jokes you made this video about your doubts and questions are actually really really healthy and even nescessary thoughts. These are are periods of development every artist goes through every once in a while. It's this feeling of repetition and perhaps even boredom that drives your creativity. Don't think of this feeling as detrimental. It means you've really started to master your current style and sound, and you're ready to strive for something greater! Also, though your chord progression may be a bit repetitive throughout your videos (which is perfectly fine!) in my experience you have an immensely wide arsenal of sounds at your disposal that you know when and how to use. It's mind baffling to me as a jazz pianist how you just pull exactly the sound the song needs out of your magic hat! Also 'extremely white funk' QQ relatable. Anyway, the video, the track and you are T E R R I F I C. Don't let anyone (even you) tell you otherwise.

I was sold by “RED MEANS KNOBBING”. Hands down the best OP-1 video on UA-cam (yes, I’ve seen them all). This track hasn’t left my head nor stopped to make me happy every day for the last week since I discovered it. Top of the head off to you sir, hats don’t do it justice.
For anyone who wants to make the voltage synth in FL Studio: use the 3osc synth and the synth settings are in order: 1. Sine waveform with the two up/down arrows highlighted in the bottom right 2. Square waveform with the two up/down arrows highlighted in the bottom right 3. Triangle waveform with the two up/down arrows highlighted in the bottom right AM OSC 3 must be turned on Phase RAND up all the way Volume Envelope: numbers based on how location around the dial 0 attack 0 delay 1/4 hold 1/2 decay 2/5 sustain 1/4 release with -1/4 tension (instead of clicking and dragging up for the tension, drag down) Pitch Envelope: 0 delay 3/4 attack with -1/4th tension 0 hold 0 decay 4/4 sustain (all the way up) 0 release amount: like 1/8th of the dial. LFO: Sine 0 delay like between 2/4 and 3/4 attack 1/2 amt (drag up, not down) like between 1/4 and 2/4 speed
coming back to this video after your "things change video", you can really see what you meant when you said it was pretty clear even then that you weren't super satisfied with the niche you made. good for you for not sticking to a formula just because it worked. thank u for i need u, and i can't wait to see what's next :)
Agreed. Been a while but I've rediscovered the channel after a long time of not being able to visit for a while, and while I miss the OP-1 content, I don't want to see Jeremy lose is creative spark to give us the easiest possible content to digest. It's lightning in a bottle, but that's the thing about lightning, it doesn't last forever.
It's interesting & rare when someone can actually takes a device... no matter how big or small... and literally take that device to it's ULTIMATE LEVEL OF CAPABILITY!!! I don't think anyone can do more with this than Red just did - he is obviously "THE MASTER on OP-1" - PERIOD!!! I'm sure that anything else someone could do on this would simply be a VARIATION of what he just did - not MORE or BETTER!! Even the tune was actually funky - and sounded better than half the bullshit on the radio today!!
Not gonna lie, 99% of UA-cam recommended is weird shit. But every once in awhile they throw in a gem that you'll keep coming back to. Good shit bro keep up the music
I discovered your channel after I lost my job, I thought my life was just gonna keep going south but your memes and beautiful synths were so uplifting. Please keep doing what you do :).
I almost never use UA-cam and this might actually even be my first comment but I found this on Reddit and had to come to say: I normally don’t listen to this genre, and I definitely have never been willing to listen to the full 19:04 minutes of a song, but this whole video pulled me in. Between great commentary, a lesson in synthesiz(ing?), and sick beats I was pretty much entranced and even felt like a part of the creative process. 10/10 the best video I’ve seen.
Devin du Plessis kind of ironic because it was the opposite for me I found this because i knew the op-1 from Andrew hung and found this then the me I know who I am thing
@@aru-YT Fun fact: The OP-1 is the result of such a large-scale, team, interdepartmental, effort that not even the folks at TeenageEngineering know exactly all it does or how it works, LOL. Thats why the documentation for it is so spotty.
My wife is out on the deck waking up. We've lived here for 15 years. She just saw her first fox in the wild. It was red. Does that mean it's recording? If so, where can I hear the music? Do foxen have band camp pages? Thanks for your help and the music /videos.
Well unfortunately their play button is around in the back of their body and its kinda jammed. You'll have to hit hard on the back of their body to hear the music.

For anyone who wants to make the voltage synth in FL Studio:
use the 3osc synth and the synth settings are in order:
1. Sine waveform with the two up/down arrows highlighted in the bottom right
2. Square waveform with the two up/down arrows highlighted in the bottom right
3. Triangle waveform with the two up/down arrows highlighted in the bottom right
AM OSC 3 must be turned on
Phase RAND up all the way
Volume Envelope: numbers based on how location around the dial
0 attack
0 delay
1/4 hold
1/2 decay
2/5 sustain
1/4 release with -1/4 tension (instead of clicking and dragging up for the tension, drag down)
Pitch Envelope:
0 delay
3/4 attack with -1/4th tension
0 hold
0 decay
4/4 sustain (all the way up)
0 release
amount: like 1/8th of the dial.
LFO: Sine
0 delay
like between 2/4 and 3/4 attack
1/2 amt (drag up, not down)
like between 1/4 and 2/4 speed
Michael Baxter how would we do it in Abelton?
Red means stale memes?
Man that was amazing. My OP-1 came in last week. Thanks for all the inspiration!
congrats on the op1 friend! hope you two get along.
Red Means Recording I hope teenage engineering sees this and starts paying you, if they don't already.
Jacob Cd I know right?!
Bought mine as well after seeing the very first videos of jeremy, or should I say Red :p still love it loads!
Dude, this is fire. Love the shitty jokes. Love the niche synth. And repeating yourself? Naw, that's called style.
coming back to this video after your "things change video", you can really see what you meant when you said it was pretty clear even then that you weren't super satisfied with the niche you made. good for you for not sticking to a formula just because it worked. thank u for i need u, and i can't wait to see what's next :)
This video is art. It deserves to live in a museum.
Jeez the captions progressively get more real... I love it
It's interesting & rare when someone can actually takes a device... no matter how big or small... and literally take that device to it's ULTIMATE LEVEL OF CAPABILITY!!!
This is possibly one of the best tracks I've ever heard.......
¿ W H A T D O E S R E D M E A N ?
I've watched every video on this channel & I still don't know tbh.
Ness T I think it means "deleting track"
Ness T Rrrrr Rrrrr Red means Reverse.
Ness T Legends say he's dropping small hints in his videos , but no-one has found them yet.
Red mean heart (heart is red), heart mean love, love mean this channel, RED MEANS RECORDING is Love, ah forget that
12:53 tomorrow is another chance to do good

Not gonna lie, 99% of UA-cam recommended is weird shit. But every once in awhile they throw in a gem that you'll keep coming back to.
Good shit bro keep up the music
This was quite the adventure you took me on. Loved every moment of it. Thanks for the experience.
Just went on the full adventure a second time. I keep getting this tune stuck in my head while doing day to day things.
This beat hits harder than my dad's belt

Arrived late, but I have to say I had never had this many goosebumps with one song
❤️❤️👏👏
This is what i call a creator. Great job in every aspect. This video is amazing.
My favorite jam video on the internet currently! Awesome!
I almost never use UA-cam and this might actually even be my first comment but I found this on Reddit and had to come to say:
I normally don’t listen to this genre, and I definitely have never been willing to listen to the full 19:04 minutes of a song, but this whole video pulled me in. Between great commentary, a lesson in synthesiz(ing?), and sick beats I was pretty much entranced and even felt like a part of the creative process. 10/10 the best video I’ve seen.
Dub step
Is it the best video you’ve ever seen, because it’s the *only* video you’ve ever seen?
@@CrimsonKnightmare1 dubstep is absolute trash lmao
@@fakename287 lmao ok LMAO lmao

LOVE THIS. Gives me liiife
A year and a half later, this is still one of my favorite videos on this channel. =]
I found this 4 years ago. Still come back every now and then when I need to de-stress. Good vibes
These videos always have really high quality editing
Is anyone else here because of:
Me
I know who I am
I’m a dude
Playin’ a dude
Disguised as another dude
????
Just a dude looking at a dude with the original style of another dude
Yeees
Yeah, I unsubscribe from that guy and just subbed to RMR instead
Devin du Plessis kind of ironic because it was the opposite for me I found this because i knew the op-1 from Andrew hung and found this then the me I know who I am thing
Yes
Always come back for this masterpiece, have a long and beautiful life everyone
Man: Almost nothing can make me cry
The exception: this song
"Tomorrow is another chance to do good"

After watching shitton of your vids, Recently i had a chance to play a OP-1.... All I'll say is, you make that thing look easy.
this is so true
Yep i got one and it's actually very confusing.
@@aru-YT Fun fact: The OP-1 is the result of such a large-scale, team, interdepartmental, effort that not even the folks at TeenageEngineering know exactly all it does or how it works, LOL.
Thats why the documentation for it is so spotty.
@@aru-YT have u figured it out yet
My wife is out on the deck waking up. We've lived here for 15 years. She just saw her first fox in the wild. It was red. Does that mean it's recording? If so, where can I hear the music? Do foxen have band camp pages? Thanks for your help and the music /videos.
yes, foxes make all kinds of music. they are very talented.
@@RedMeansRecording example, "what does the fox say" from awhile back.
Well unfortunately their play button is around in the back of their body and its kinda jammed. You'll have to hit hard on the back of their body to hear the music.
@@odetomykitten odd design choice
7 years later and this video still tempts me to buy one
You had my sub as soon as I laughed at every "Boi" and ghost.
you need to add the finger wiggle on the key during the funky lead for extra styles
The first music related video i watched all The way in a long Time, really, utterly full of something rough an raw, still so beautifull, thank you.
I honestly love this video so much. I come back to it all the time. I like the creation of the song more then the end product. The little bits the got cut out are like little gold nuggets.
I'm not going to lie, this was one of the most entertaining videos I've ever watched.
