Diabetes mellitus refers to a group of diseases that affect how the body uses blood sugar (glucose). Glucose is an important source of energy for the cells that make up the muscles and tissues. It's also the brain's main source of fuel. The main cause of diabetes varies by type.
DESCRIPTION OF VIDEO:
This lecture is the first one of the Diabetes Mellitus webinar series by Dr. Najeeb. It gives an overview of Diabetes mellitus along with its different types and different complications.
Diabetes Mellitus is a complex group of metabolic disorders with a common thread of chronic hyperglycaemia. There are many different types of Diabetes Mellitus including type I, type II, MODY, LADA, gestational Diabetes mellitus, and secondary Diabetes mellitus to name a few.
Diabetes Mellitus causes a number of complications in the body which may progress with time and ultimately lead to death. Some of these complications can be divided into microvascular and macrovascular complications. The most common macrovascular complications include coronary artery disease (CAD), cerebrovascular disease (CVD), and peripheral artery disease (PAD). The microvascular complications include diabetic nephropathy and diabetic retinopathy among others.

I was type II diabetic patient Since 2018, reversed my diabetes with dietary, Lifestyle change in 2021, since then I love to learn about the basics of diabetes, I came across many books and lectures across world but I fell in love to this intro lecture of diabetes. I was my self clinical guinea pig and did all test before and after reversal, The way how you start the lecture with Carbohydrate, Lipids and Proteins is really a class. I am not a doctor rather I am Msc. Engineer by qualification, even a lay man person like me can understand each and every word of your lecture and to me a best lecturer is one who can take even the dump student to the height of his lecture. You are an amazing person. Thank you for sharing these lectures openly so that a non doctor can also get benefit from it.

@@DoctorNajeeb beta blockers do receptor sensitivity so in the long run use degrade the beta receptors and do long term hyperglycemia by doing beta receptors blocking plus withdrawal symptoms of hypoglycemia too produce by abrupt withdrawal and beta blockers too mask the sympathetic stimulation like symptoms of hypoglycemia by decreasing heart rate as bradycardia sir how we can talk to u fr concepts?
