Combustion engines aren't 2/3 efficient. More like 1/3. Even then you need to run it on expensive fuel.

So does an engine, because thermodynamics. Power plants typically burn coals to generate steam which in turn drives what is known as a steam turbine, which in turn generate electricity. Some even run on combined cycle, using natural gas for the main turbine and residual heat to produce steam for a secondary steam turbine. Did you honestly think power plants run on gasoline and diesel?

As a engineer u caught my attention. I like this test performance..It's an ideal for more possibilities that can improve on your device . My thoughts are if u add another coil coming out of the discharge end and heat it up ,, u may as a results ,,a mini high pressure system ,,add a small turbine generator. Any way good luck and good job.

    Skookum choocher.
You should put a plate of top to force the heat to go through the gaps between the pipes. I work for a company that produces extremely efficient condensing boilers. A casing around the whole thing also wouldn't hurt

      Thanks for the input .
The device will be insulated inside a steal framed box when complete .
I have seen something about condensing boilers on a repair video . is the idea to only expose the heat exchange to tap water wile using a closed loop of clean water ? it was a repair video and they said nothing about how they work , he was just changing the heat exchange and i thought wow wonder whats up with that , hence my hunch .

    • @roehle9962
      @roehle9962 5 років тому +1

@@NOBOX7 yeah kinda. But the biggest advantage against regular boilers is that the exhaust is cooled down to room temperature, condensing the steam produced by the combustion process. Alot of energy is stored in this steam. They achieve this by winding the tubing extremely tight, there's only a .3mm gap between them. This forces the exhaust from the combustion/heating chamber to give off all it's heat

You need to insulate the coil with Ceramic Wool (it good up to 1400 Degrees) and put a metal liner around the tubing. The temperature will increase and You can cut down on your fuel. If you plan to use it as a Hot Water Boiler it will be Great. It would be best if it is a Closed Loop Boiler. Your Water Chemistry is Very important. The Water Chemistry will Stop contaminants and the rotting of your tubing and the Closed Loop means once the Chemistry is right you won't have to keep adding chemicals. The Ceramic Wool is best for insulating the tubing. You can add Heat Exchanger to the loop to heat different Rooms.

That ruptured tube can cut 10 to 15 steel tubes by that one ruptured tube. These are 2'' o.d. tubes with . 375 wall thickness. So Super Heated Steam is very Dangerous. It will cut you like a knife. Can you size that up to boil 200 + gph of water ?

Possibly known as a LaMont boiler.

How many psi is the water flow?
    And what is the gpm?
I'm curious if just a 50 foot coil will work with a boiler pump.

250 psi 1 to 2 lpm but never did a good flow test

@@NOBOX7 did you ever measure the water psi at the outlet? Because the video of water shooting out is not 250 psi, more like 40 or 50 psi. I hooked up my 1/4" stainless 50 foot coil to water hose at 50 psi and the flow was the same as your video. I'm about to coil it tightly for a steamer then check psi just from water hose again.
The pressure difference from inlet to outlet would be good to know. The percentage loss from the friction as a rule of thumb will be valuable no doubt.

@@NOBOX7 I tested my 50' coil with propane weed burner, less than 2 minutes to heat with wind blowing at times, normal water hose pressure does the same as your rig does with the alleged 250 psi water pressure. I still don't believe yours is anywhere near that at the outlet. Maybe if you had 200 feet of coil, then you might need that much at the inlet. Your water pressure is falling off way too fast. Research I've done recently said about 30% drop in pressure which turns out to be true for my setup.
My waterhose tested 45-50 psi at first then after coiling stainless steel tubing,it had reduced to 34 psi which is close to 30%. At 34 psi the temp should be close to 280°F.

@@NOBOX7 just did a flow test, 1 gpm from waterhose. Biggest diameter of coil is about 8".
This stainless steel tubing is 1/4" OD and .028 wall thickness, so .194 ID.
Now I'm really interested in you checking your setup to see what's so far off.

Very interested. How do you feed water into the monotube? Could it be gravity fed? If so, how do you keep the pressure from going into the water Reservoir?
