I just beat the game again yesterday and I killed Desaan in the best way. We just unlocked sabers and we swung at the same time and just before his saber hit me, my saber sliced his head off...epic kill
Jacob Snyder WOW!!!! Awesome job! I remember playing this game back in the day when it came out when I was 7 and again later when I was 10. I only managed to slice guys in half once in the game, I certainly never managed to slice anyone's head off.
@@Blinkster93 Desann is the toughest foe for me. I whoop Tavion easily. Allora with dual Lightsabers is my second toughest. But even those rebornmasters were no joke. But I did think that most of the reborn in Jedi Academy were way too weak. They only stood a chance against Jedi if they greatly outnumbered them. The shadow troopers were tough worthy foes and were often better than Tavion. I liked how even the standard reborn were fairly tough in Jedi Academy and although the cultists sucked they could be deadly in numbers.

Just a few days ago I attempted a playthrough of the entire game where I used no force powers or lightsaber in combat. From Bespin on, it took a lot of saves, and a fair bit of trial and error at times, but it was totally worth it. I was almost disappointed when I fought Desann, because I actually killed him on my first try. I spammed my two or three remaining training remotes to keep him distracted. They did their job, and with the high ground, I put down all of my remaining auto-turrets as a second line of defense while I unloaded on him with the flachette launcher from a safe distance. It was so satisfying though.
A worthy adversary and successor to villains like the Emperor. None of that resurrected Emperor BS or these other comic book villains. Desann is a good villain, solid and worthy of being a major threat. After this or Jedi Academy, the Star Wars Saga should've ended. Instead we have to put up with these stupid Vong after that... or even Darth Krayt, blergh.
I remember this guy killed me over and over again until happended something funny, just like the Ep III, Desann jumps and I cut him with one single blow. It was like: "it´s over, Desann, I have the high ground"
Star Wars Jedi Knight 2 Jedi Outcast was such an unique game on Pc :)! I had so much fun playing this game and i don’t know how many times i have played it :) . You really felt like a true Jedi with your lightsaber and Force powers 😁. This final boss with Desann was epic but tough if you could master your lightsaber skills :)
He was pretty hard on the hardest setting. Once he was standing behind one of these beams. He couldn't see me but I could see his toes. I fired a rocket onto those toes, which killed him instantly.

He was pretty hard on any setting. Also, stop lying. He autodeflects anything beyond lightsaber attacks and force powers. And one rocket is not enough to break the pillar and instant kill him.
Desann also sucks when at fighting more than one enemies at once. Even though hef is the toughest foe to fight 1 vs 1 in game he goes down even faster than Tavion or a shadow trooper when fighting 3 or Jedi at once. Even if they are just low ranking Jedi. Try fighting him with Luke or 2 standard Jedi for a change.
I think you can defeat Desann by collapsing those pillars on him. I think by slashing them when he is near and jumping away. It's been awhile tho, so I'm not sure.
For those who don't know, on the sides of this room, on the upper floor, there are two Force Pull Blocks you can use; activating these will activate that laser you see at the beginning of the fight, and if you touch it fast enough, it'll make you invulnerable for a few seconds. BE WARNED: Desann will try to use it too, and he'll also become invulnerable, and only one person can use it at a time. The laser reactivates after a certain amount of time though, so just survive long enough until then
there is an old comic called the dark empire (1990), it's about the resurrected emeror and yes it's official. Probably one of the best comics I know, the story is absolutely fantastic,I think a big part of the expanded universe (including this game) is pretty great.
Desann isnt that difficult to take down, but sometimes he just do some op stuff you cant defend against. Like pushing you over and do a saber throw, and dead.
See, the trick to this fight is that Dessan is using a style with the speed of Medium, but the reach and damage of Strong. So if you want to outmaneuver him you have to use fast style, but that doesn't do much damage. So you can use Strong, but that required impeccable timing and use of the force. He's a tough sunovabitch.
Simple: Keep a healthy distance between you and him, so he reacts with a saber throw. When he throws his lightsaber, activate Force Speed and rush him with Fast Style so you can get as many hits in before his lightsaber comes back to him. There you go. Dead Desann.
Lol saw your jump cuts there from dying :P. Desann can actually be killed with two well placed hits in about 5 seconds. Tavion can be killed even faster, just force push her and angle towards the ground right to do like 20 light saber throws down at her in a second.
Just killed him. On his first attack, he dropped his saber after a throw while I was speedy. Four seconds later approximatively, I killed a weaponless lizard. Gosh. I feel terrible.
One of my favorite games from the past. One complaint, in hindsight, way too much saber-throwing. I used to mod the game so that the lightsaber combat would feel more like a real duel from the films.
Alex sandoval I agree. If you play JK2 on steam, then 1.04 is the version you are playing. If you play it on the disc, then it is 1.02. There are quite a lot of differences in gameplay.

I'd sugest another way of killing. I passed the game on "jedi knight" difficulty. When you have enough forcepoints, - just turn the speed on, atack Desann 1-2 times and jump away. Repeat this as many times as possible. Cos Desann is attacking rapidly, he won't be able to heal himself. On this difficulty i made about 4 such attacks
I remember how I defeated Desann. He knocked my saber out of my hand and threw me across the room. I leaped over him, force grabbed my lightsaber and then ran towards him and did a saber slash/jump and cut his head off.
I remember about me Vs Desann. when I battle against and defeat him with my Graflex Lightsaber. so I did. I am Legendary Jedi Guardian member of the Jedi Council. my masters Luke Skywalker and Kyle Katarn trained me very well and successful. my age is 24. so I am Jedi Knight. I constructed my Graflex Lightsaber I put the ultimate crystals parts and stable blue kyber crystal extremely well. the energy damage will be 99-99. extremely powerful. it will damage the sith lords and dark jedis extremely effective. good to go.
i always wanted to beat Desann fair and square without force speed or the pillars.. took me like 100 tries but i did it in the end.. and it was SOoooooooo satishfying ^w^
The easiest way is to use the red lightsaber style and force pull him as much as you can and when hes down slash 'em up. One time I got perfect health and perfect shields by using this tactic.
I got lucky in this last battle. Desann knocked my lightsaber out of my hand and Force Pushed me across the room. I then ran towards him and he ran towards me. I lept over him and grabbed my lightsaber. Finally, I ran back towards him and did a slash/jump and defeated him!
setforceall 1138 to get the alternative fast(Tavion) and strong(Desann) styles it makes lightsaber combat so much better along with the g_saberrealisticcombat 20
favourite thing to do is put on God mode and break the pillars.... then watch as they fall on top of you and him... one time i was crushed by them and i had a small gap to watch him, and all you see is him standing there going "Now you will..." and then a giant rock falls on his head, like a movie!
Even if the story isn't as good as Kotor or Kotor 2 the gameplay is certainly superior. I mean really it's still fun to play capture the flag and jedi master. If they only made an RPG using the same engine.
I play this game on al dif and I must say shadow troopers are hardest on padawan dif. They fight much more dumb at jedi dif . Plus dessan fight is easiest on jedi knight dificulty.

Use force speed and the third lightsaber setting. I killed him in like 3 seconds.

Remember spawning Luke to fight this guy, and 9/10 times Luke would get killed. Very understimated villain, Desann.

I kicked ass in multiplayer mode. I loved fighting ADHD kids who have no patience. Always charging with no mind for defense.

We never had anything like this on Academy.
Use your sentries and little shooting orbs on him, he will focus on them first. Use push while behind him, then when he is on ground, cut his veins.

Fast saber style with Force Speed, defeated in 10 seconds. Maybe I was playing too low of a difficulty, but felt pretty anticlimactic.
