The name of the instrument is Ravanhatha- also argued to be the progenitor of violin. Ravanhatta's origin is in the India(Bharat)/Sri Lanka which dates back to atleast 5,000 years. It was played by the King Ravan hence the name. King Ravan was the king of Sri Lanka and it is this exact King that was killed by Lord Ram. The whole story of this is given in Ramayan, which has more than 300 versions(each independent of other), the widely known is the Valmiki's Ramayan. The story has been animated and is on youtube! Fun fact- heilung had mentioned in an interview that the bow of the instrument, has human hair as the string whereas traditionally horse hair is used.

I see your #mentalhealth so it feels relevant to share that I have lived and live through "it", and Heilungs music/ritual touches stuff in my soul, for the better :-) It can be both unpleasant and ecstatic at times - but I feel its a movement towards something. Mental health, in whatever its form easily can feel like the opposite, and the external push through the senses is .. freeing? in a way.. for the lack of a better expression :-) .. I greatly appreciate the insight you provide. I will watch that concert in its entirety on my own, although I do have some more Heilung reactions coming soon. I approached this channel from a mental health and recovery standpoint and tie into the lyrics from an emotional perceptive approach. I've struggled off and on most of my life with addiction, ideations, mental health in general, and never feeling adequate enough. It's only been over the last 6 months that I've truly come to appreciate myself as a person, and you'll see more in-depth reviews and reactions as I go. Yes. You are on target with most of the observations. Maria does personify the Goddess in their rituals. The Goddess is often associated with the Moon, hence the crescent moon antlers she wears, embodying the Heavens and the Earth as Mother Nature as well. The white color is also a moon association. The two black crescents she wears on her face paint, may represent the crescent phases of the moon as well. At least that's how I see it as a Wiccan High Priest.

The chief shaman is shouting a welcome to the "Guest Army" - Harigastu Taiva! then there are some Galdr (Male magic) followed by everyone chanting the names of the runes (Which all had magical properties) - nine times for the nine days and nights the Allfather hung from the Worldtree over the Universal void, to spy out the secrets of the same runes. Then the Völva (seeress/shamaness) performs female magic - Seidr - which is ABSOLUTELY forbidden for men to practice. The indian instrument i see as a nod to the fact that ALL Indoeuropean religions from Ireland to India have a common origin.
