God he puts so much into a song and as many thousands of times he has sung them every time is like the first time.I simply adore Tony Bennett.I am so fortunate to have seen him live. This is the exact combo he had when I saw him.He is a true master.
His two albums with the great Bill Evans on piano. They were just reissued, and are of the greatest things I've ever listened to. Also, as a great starter, track down his box set that was released in the early 90's. it changed the way I listen to music. I'm also really captivated by his work in the last 30 years. His album of kids songs, The Playground, is great. There's just so many....
When I heard this song as a child, I imagined the lyrics were referring to someone who had abandoned their lover. Now that I'm much older, the phrase "since you went away" sounds more like a euphemism for "since you died." After all, falling leaves aren't voluntarily departing; they've died.
@jazzweston1 still singing, still painting. I heard from this guy in Long Island, he had tickets to a show for his friends, and nobody wanted to go. i was ashamed for them haha
BuckNekkid3000 Yes.Have you ever Tried listening to Miles Davis sketches Of Spain? And Come out of it Whole.. Hell you'll Come out of that Funk..Alive ..the great Smokey mountains are nice right now..as well as Mich..Hot Cider or a someing Hard but nice..i love this time of the year.. Leafers!.....im ready for the slopes..Winter is coming soon.....
I'm wondering why this has never been re-released on dvd.. Ralph Sharon was--what I would call--one of the driving forces behind the magnificence that was the Tony Bennett phenomenon. (His new band and especially that new piano player he has absolutely sucks. I can say that because I've seen Tony live well over a dozen times over the last 20 years. So I know.
@ninjaguy1995 better at what? This man is a singer! he sings the harder songs and makes them all look easy. Bennett is #1 followed very closely by Jerry Vale and Jimmy Roselli.
Awesome performance. No kidding. That is to say... I'm not kidding. With kidding, I am not involved. I stay away from it. I've heard things. I've heard things about kidding. That's why I'm not involved. If I were involved, things might happen. Things that won't happen if I abstain from kidding. Do you understand? I understand. We all understand.
@cspanman Tony is amazing! But hey don't down Kanye just because you can't relate to his music. I'm black, and from nashville, tn. I listen to Kanye West because alot of what he speaks about in his earlier albums I can relate to growing up in the area i did. Being from Nashville I also listen to alot of Country music. I play the violin/piano and am a big classical music fan. #YoYoMa! You have to understand. Music is personal, cultural, and emotional. Dont hate if you can't relate!
@KentuckyJet I was saying that his rendition of autumn leaves was better. and I said that because I think it is. If you dont think so then thats your opinion, and its not my business to criticize. Much as it is not your opinion to criticize my opinion. anyway I wouldnt criticise your opinion because Tony Bennett is an amazing singer.
@SergioVellatti It sounds like you agree but you're too much a gentleman to come right out and say so. Lucky for me I'm an uncouth lout and therefore have no problem coming right out and saying what I think. btw "clunkhead" wasn't my first choice of words to use to describe that guy. He's an obviously arrogant and egocentric person which is funny because everyone knows that people who behave that way are just compensating for an inferiority complex and low self-esteem.
He was great with the Ralph Sharon trio, but that new piano guy he has is a clunkhead. He overplays his parts and his playing really takes away from the music instead of adding to it.
Not even close to Frank's version. It's obvious he has trouble with low notes. The ending was good but that's about it. I sing Frank's version every day. It's better than Tony Bennett
A beautiful song so well done. Thank you Mr. Bennett. And rest well. You will be missed.
Superlative! Love you Tony. And Ralph Sharon on piano - no words to express how good that was.
God he puts so much into a song and as many thousands of times he has sung them every time is like the first time.I simply adore Tony Bennett.I am so fortunate to have seen him live. This is the exact combo he had when I saw him.He is a true master.
That was a bunch of b*******

Pure genius. This song is a masterpiece of composition and Tony really does it justice.

@Tony Amico... you hit the nail on the head: for phrasing, and instrument of voice you can't beat Tony Bennett.

Marvelous.

Ralph n Tony, unbeatable duo.
That smile is priceless.

still singing, still painting. I heard from this guy in Long Island, he had tickets to a show for his friends, and nobody wanted to go. i was ashamed for them haha
Un velouté de ténor sax! Un swing dément!Inusable!
Ralph Sharon is the truth !!!
Igual este Sr. es GENIAL
Very touching motion of tony
I Love Chet Baker's Version..i allways tear up when I hear Tony sing this..
If you feel that way, I suggest you check out Miles Davis and Cannonball Adderly's version of this timeless classic.
BuckNekkid3000 Yes.Have you ever Tried listening to Miles Davis sketches Of Spain? And Come out of it Whole.. I like the way you hold up your side of a conversation, John.
@@BuckNekkid3000 Listen to Yenne Lee's classical guitar rendition of this song. It's beautiful.
Original version is French "Les feuilles mortes", but the American version is very beautiful, too!
Maybe you could start with "I Left My Heart in San Francisco," from 1962. A nice way to listen to a young Tony in his prime. :)
ES UN TEMA EMOCIONANTE, solo lo supera la Sra. Eva Cassidy...uffff
정말로 감미로운 음악 이네요.
Ralph Sharon is the ne plus ultra, baby.
piano player is straight 🔥
I'm wondering why this has never been re-released on dvd.. Ralph Sharon was--what I would call--one of the driving forces behind the magnificence that was the Tony Bennett phenomenon. @cspanman how can you even compare? one is music in his purest form, the other is entertainment mixed with talent.
Mr Cool. I subbed.
Very,v😮ery😢 nice
WOW
Les feuilles mortes.... 🇫🇷😢
just getting into TB. Any suggestions from TB fans on first CD to buy? replies appreciated.
you rock
I loved Tony Bennett, but this style is interesting,
Civilizated music. Diferent of a lot of things that we can see actually.
😎✨✨✨yeah
@ninjaguy1995 better at what? This man is a singer! he sings the harder songs and makes them all look easy. Bennett is #1 followed very closely by Jerry Vale and Jimmy Roselli.
I really really miss U babe .,.,.,

No. Tonight, I think I'm just going to have the salad.

@BuckNekkid3000 Yeah, you're speaking of Lee Musiker. Interesting personality, indeed.
Rudy Guiliani on piano.

Best singer according to Frank...
@cspanman Ain't that the truth!
Effortless singer, a good judge of character.
Fantastic, really good, i still however waould say that eva cassedy's version of it is better
@SergioVellatti It sounds like you agree but you're too much a gentleman to come right out and say so. amazing, but im gonna say sinatra was better

... no such thing as " better ".
