Young teacher , THANK YOU so much, you made my day... as an very old lady I just forgot how to crochet this beauty that i used wear many times... and what good times.... god bless you, because also I just only understand the step by step. Very nice job ! granny z
Thank you so much for this pattern, I've been looking for a cloche hat to make and never found one I liked until now. I've made 3 hats in 2 days! Great tutorial, easy to follow...thanks again!
Tracy, thank you for your fabulous videos! Your instructions are thorough and easy to understand, and your videotaping is nice and close so beginners like me can see what you're talking about. Troubleshooting question: I completed my hat, but once I had my initial circle, it didn't lay nice and flat like yours did. Any ideas why mine puckered a bit? The finished hat is almost squarish on top instead of rounded, sort of like a yarn top hat. It's still cute, but I wonder what I did wrong.
When you chain 5 in the beginning make sure you are counting the loop on your hook as the first chain ( you will only chain up 4 times.) Next: 7 dc in the first chain. When you are finished with this step, you will have a total of 8 stitches. The original chain 5 (holes at the top) counts as your first dc and then you have 7 dc for a total of 8 stitches that form the ring. I hope this helps... feel free to ask more questions if you are still getting stuck.
I did it 2 days ago, turned out really great. One thing: I realized that when I begin next raw with 3 chains I little hole appears, so I changed and started each new raw with chain 2. I also added 2 more raws at the section where I worked depth because I like hat to stand a bit loose on my head. (or I had big head:) thanks for the tutorial!
Question I'm trying to make a flapper hat but i'm confused with the beginning stich, the instructions say with the smalle hook chain 54 (60, 66) slip st in first chain to form ring. Place marker for beginning of round? Then it says Round 1 chain 2 (counts as hdc here and throughout) hdc in each chain around, slip in top of beginning chain to join? Where do I begin????
Tracey, I keep getting stuck in the beginning! If I DC into the 5 ch st, I end up with many holes at the top. Yours looks different. I also have more stiches than you. How can I fix this? I've started over several times, what am I missing? I love the hat!
Val NLN sorry these videos were made way back in the day almost 10 years ago. I am going to making videos again and will possibly redo this one! Stay tuned
@vivian gosselin @pauline doyle Sorry guys. I made this video 11+ years ago. BUT I remade the video in a light raffia yarn so you can see. I hope you check it out ua-cam.com/video/x14vidHJAy0/v-deo.html

@kealliew Maybe the yarn you used was thicker or heavier weight. causing it to curl.
Tracey Beebe hi
Where have you gone? I miss you so much 🙁🙁

Where is the rest of the tutorial?
Hi..Iam making hats and your video's good, just wanted to ask if you have more ideas with different patterns..thanks.
@gmaj123 sorry I don't have a written pattern :-(

Do you have a written patter of this cloche?? It's so pretty
How many rows do you end up having before you get to the white part???
This hat is beautiful. Could you please tell me where I can find the written pattern?

Very difficult to see with the dark yarn and low lighting. Wish you had used a lighter yarn to work this project.
Where is the tutorial for the flower? Thanks.
I love the hat, but I'm new to crocheting and can't see what you are doing with so dark a yarn.

Just ordered some raffia yarn to remake this video. I think this pattern is perfect for making a beachy summer cloche.
Remade the tutorial for this pattern in light color yarn. Hope you check it out

SORRY BUT THE BPQFK YARN IS VERY HARD TO SEE. I LOVE THIS HAT AND YOUR VIDEO BUT HAVE W VISUAL IMPAIRMENT. COULD YOU DO IT IN A LIGHTER COLOR PLEASE?
I'm sure you did a lovely job on hat. Sorry I could see only a black blob. Perhaps you could try again with a lighter color.
@Christy Hall
Impossible to see with the dark yarn
I agree Pauline. The dark yarn and low lighting didn’t work for me. I stopped watching bc of that.
