How many 380s come to Delhi, Mumbai or Bangalore? What can be justified for a airlines to fly A380 to an airport. Only 2 380s come to India, one by Singapore airlines and one by Emirates.
More over Airbus does not build 380s any more. So it's a distant dream of seeing A380 at Kolkata

It is hideous to have any mosque or temple or church inside an airport. CCU is only of a kind in the world.
Need to remove it else the long taxiway will not have it's purpose
Mosque was built in 1890. Way before airport was built. Best way would be to relocate it to a safe location away from the nose of the runway. Otherwise, God forbid, if any plane skids off the runway it will be fatal.

Would be nice if the terminal was decorated richly with the arts and crafts of Bengal. The international as well as the domestic arrival areas are depressing. The departure areas are nothing to write home about either. One might want to compare with the tastefully done Terminal 2 in Bombay. Since the Terminal is a nice glass one, Rathin Mitra’s Calcutta sketches mounted on glass would be swell..

Very informative vlog Rohit. The two runways at Kolkata cannot be used for simultaneous landings like in San Fransisco. This is due to the inadequate distance separating them.
But they both can be used one after another.
As much as we would love to have both runways operational at the same time, I don't think it is going to happen. The gap between the two runways does not meet the minimum safety requirement.

The gap is of 210m, which qualifies for parallel operations of even bigger aircraft like 380
The gap is okayish. So I think no parallel take off or landing will happen in both runways but it can happen with in difference of 5-10 seconds

Bro this is a very comprehensive video. Lot of research and time went into this. Kudos to you... Will the secondary runway become useable for take-off and landing? That is the main issue.
the second runway is usually used for taxing. It is also used for landings and takeoffs when primary runway is under repair

the main runway is 3.6km while the secondary one is 3.2km

That masjid should be relocated to somewhere else. This is not from any religious or political point of view, but rather from the development and safety point of view. If the secondary runway isn't extended further, Kolkata airport is gonna hit the saturation point much sooner than expected.

In kolkata Airport the runway should be widened to allow flexibility for landing aircraft as in other air port ,,the old international terminal lying virtually unused should be developed to provide for second terminal,,,,,the masjid can be relocated outside airport ,,there is no reason for masjid inside airport ,,,but in kolkata traffic will increase only if kolkata emerge as industrial hub which it has lost and we do not see any immediate prospect ,,,,,
Already we have a wide runway.
Please inform no of landings and take off per day at present and estimated in future. Also passenger and cargo handling at present and in future.

Bengal is not able to provide land for most of the projects. Central Government is doing projects across India.

while this is excellent effort from your end, this video shows the ramshackle condition of Kolkata and WB.. they started constructing the new tower in 2018 and it's still not finished?! Noida started building the new airport much later (2021) and a whole new airport is targeted to be finished by 2024... this is what happens if you don't privatise... sure Noida might face delays but 4 years for a single tower is ridiculous..
also all the new hangers and taxi ways can't mask the fact that air travel from Kolkata is very low... Delhi has 3 runways with another under construction, and when Noida airport starts, it will have 6 runways, Bombay is building a whole new airport while Bangalore is building a new runway.. if the Kolkata airport was indeed near saturation, the govt would have been forced to look for land for a new one.. unless the economy of WB grows, we will have to remain satisfied with small news like these...

Airbus already stop it's production of A380. The concept of A380 don't fullfill the Aviation Market Trend right now. Right now due to rise in budget airline and redevelopment/ devlopment of fuel efficient long range twin engine, airline wer focusing on wide body Jets like A350s,B777,B777x,787, A321XLR and A330 neo. It's good to see CCU finally working on taxi.Great job👍

This is not the good news, because the 2nd International Airport of Kolkata in Bhangor should not be ignored by AAI & state government, They must start acquiring land to boom connectivity of Kolkata in South East Asia. Big Airlines must will come & employment opportunities will be created.
I agree but the state government seems to always delay it.......they site land acquisition as a problem. That could be solved through offers and providing better housing like the prefabricated ones. I dont think the state government realises it. But shifting people is definitely a difficult task.
Everything is good but it's important to privatise the airport. Condition of the airport has gone to the dogs. It's good to mention the development but you should also bring up the downside for people to be aware of scope of improvement.
If anyone has visited Bengaluru airport they would be ashamed of our netaji airport
