    Why are daphnia shown in the jars at 0:53? How misleading to my poor students! At least it gives me a chance to yell excitedly at the screen. Also, my students noted that they are NOT insects.

    My buddies and myself were trolling Milwaukee harbor last September and kept getting clumps of these on out lines. We thought it was some sort of weird algae. Great, more invasive species.

    First heard of those a couple days ago while along the Rainy River. Not sure why, seeing I’ve known about mussels, lampreys and Asian carp for years (even striped bass can be bad news if somehow introduced into fisheries not used to them).
