  • Rossini had been living in France for about four years when he wrote his Rendez-vous de Chasse in 1828. It is composed in a romantic and evocative way and can be regarded as a kind of style exercise for his mighty opera Guillaume Tell, which was to premiere a year later. Rossini's great fondness for the horn can be clearly heard in the work. He has often used it as a solo instrument in his music, but this piece was written especially for four horns and orchestra. It is a work that is relatively unknown, so the public will be pleasantly surprised with this beautiful miniature by Rossini.
