Probably the big market teams will definitely have an advantage. I get the whole point about parody but look at what Europe is doing only one or two clubs compete at each league level for the title over there. And they’re becoming world-class teams I don’t see why NWSL shouldn’t do the same. But if I’m Gotham, Kansas City, Portland, Angel city I am happy as heck. I get to sign overseas elite players and get to develop young talent that’s how Barcelona Chelsea and all the other clubs become so good
- Eliminating the draft looks like a win for the players and the sports agent industry. It might also be a win in disguise for sports journalism by placing a premium on investigative reporting vs. watching a multi-day event unfold S-L-O-W-L-Y. IMO, draft telecasts, regardless of sport or gender, are the equivalent of watching paint dry. - Getting traded is a jolt; good to see more control returned to individual athletes.

This group wouldn't necessarily gone through a college draft although some may have attended a U.S. college. The draft process can be see as a way to systematically underpay athletes as a group by forcing each athlete to talk to one team and one team only.
I guess with all the teenagers coming into the league now, colleges aren’t going to have as many of the best players anymore, so a draft wouldn’t be as important.
If the salary cap is only 3 million dollars next year for 22 players somebody really good at a blue blood soccer school can probably make more money in college.
This might kill a league. How does a bad team get good without a draft? They just have to overbid for players? Free agency for everyone. I will have to research this will be done. The leagues broadcast deal is 60 million a year. That is nothing. Lebron is almost going to make that next year. By 2030 a 5 million dollar salary cap. A 3 million dollar salary cap this year. 22 players on a team. You going to have a lot of women playing for nothing and a small group of high paid stars. The league will not make it to the end of this CBA.

One benefit is they don't have to wait until after the draft to grab players. They can target whoever whenever.

I don't understand the need, not just in sports shows, to stand while you interview somebody. It always looks so awkward but it's become pervasive.

Wrong! MLS started with a similar salary cap and look how far it’s come and womens soccer is growing at a faster rate than mls did
